The giving continues for another year!
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Send an email to santadavemaynar@gmail.com with the following information: FULL NAME: ADDRESS: SCREENNAME:
I will randomly assign a secret santa to everyone. (I PROMISE it will be random). If for some reason there is a reason why you would not want to be assigned as someones secret santa, please list those people in the email you send me.
2. Answer the questions below in a reply to this thread. Your Secret Santa once assigned will review those answers to determine what to give you.
3. Secret Santas will be given out on Friday, November 21st. Once you've been assigned a person, check this thread, but PLEASE, DO NOT reveal who you have.
4. Let's try to ship all gifts by December 15th. Gifts DO NOT have to be purchased. Feel free to be creative and create or craft a gift. If you do intend on purchasing a gift, lets try to keep it in the $20 range.
5. Don't be "that guy". If you participate and are assigned as someone's Secret Santa, don't leave them without a gift. Please be prepared to participate if you e-mail me. That being said, bad things do happen, so if you have to drop out for some reason, let me know so arrangements can be made.

1. What is your favorite genre of music? I don't understand the question, and I won't respond to it.
2. What is your favorite musical artist? David Byrne.

5. What is your favorite non-music related hobby? I have two of those, so I guess this makes up for question 4. Sewing and baking.
6. What is your favorite color? Purple in pretty much any shade.
7. What is your favorite animal? Well, I'm a dog person, but if we are talking non-domesticated animals, that's a tough one because I quite like a lot of animals. Snow monkeys are pretty cool.
8. What is your favorite TV Shows/Movies? There are so many. Breaking Bad, Arrested Development, Twin Peaks, and Party Down are pretty high ranking on the tv show side. A Serious Man, I Heart Huckabees, and Idiocracy maybe on the movies. Lately, I've been watching a lot of nature documentaries.
9. What is your favorite restaurant/fast food joint? Moe's, but we don't have that here. I probably eat at Panera more than most places.
10. What is your favorite "Munchies"? A handful of dark chocolate chips and a glass of milk.
11. What else do you want "Santa" to know about you? I've been staring at this question for three minutes and don't have any idea how to answer it.
Edit: Okay, I thought of some things. I'm kind of in the middle of an existential thing. Not a crisis so much as just that I spend a lot of time thinking about who I am and what I want to do with myself. I'm interested in yoga and meditation, but I'm too cheap to pay for yoga classes. I enjoy cooking. I've been trying (with some success) to cut out processed foods and fast food as much as possible. Eventually, I'd like to move to a big plot of land with a small house and live simply. Maybe in Colorado somewhere. I realize most of this isn't really that helpful for a secret Santa, but also, I'm an oversharer.
12. What is your favorite Christmas candy/treat? I used to like peppermint bark, but I've kind of lost my taste for anything even a little bit synthetic tasting, so I'm not sure I could eat it anymore. I guess sugar cookies is my answer then.

I'm a really simple person. Besides law, fantasy sports, bonnaroo, concerts/shows, and the occasional hike, there really isn't much else to me on the surface. I guess on some level - or at least compared to most people - I have a pretty strong connection to Judaism. My family calls me "Rabbi" sometimes as a joke which I find comical. I enjoy trying new beers. My favorites are probably Russian River Blind Pig, Troegs Nugget Nectar, Fire Rock Pale Ale, and McSorley's Irish Black Lager (on tap).

Because I'm Jewish I don't even really know what constitutes "Christmas" food. Typically on Christmas I'll eat Chinese food then head over to the mall where I can get hammered at the Cheesecake factory and later on pass out in the movie theater. This year I'm thinking of going to AC so I can play poker with all the degenerates that just got their Christmas bonus money. I guess the one commonality there is alcohol. So...alcohol is my favorite Christmas "candy/treat".

1. What is your favorite genre of music. Threatening and Weird! Modern Psychedelic (interpret as you will), 20th Century Classical a la Phillip Glass, Steve Reich. Pretty much anything but modern radio friendly country (Think Allan Jackson, Toby Keith, Billy Ray Cyrus kinda stuff). This question is very difficult, I regularly listen to just about every genre. I'm drawn to things that are unique.

Updated again. Rebelbrad is under 500 posts and under two years, but I feel like he deserves to be included. I double checked with another poster just to be sure, and my sentiment was echoed. bacon is the only person so far that has not completed the survery and email, so I filled in what you should get him until he gets his stuff done.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
Also, I'm not very imaginative when it comes to gifts, so the gift/s I give may not be super crafty or clever.... Sorry ahead of time!!
