So me and friends are considering VIP for the first time this year. We have been combing through these threads trying to find this information but keep coming up just more confused/ seeing old info.
We are trying to find EXACTLY what special sections at the What/Which stage you are allowed into as a VIP member. I see that there is a pit at Which, but at What do you just get access to the Hill or is there a special pit area or both?
For those VIP veterans: if you are really short (as two of the people in my group are) do the VIP areas help out significantly to improve the experience??
You're paying for A/C bathrooms and showers. Most of the grounds in vip camping are nice and lush grass, but, you may also end up in a swamp..... If you can efford vip, by all means, it does have it's perks.
I went VIP in 2013 and there seemed to be some confusion as to if there was a vip section at the tents. We consistently used the front right side area all weekend at the other tent, but the rest didn't let us through. Even the security at other tent told us it was the VIP area

Went VIP last year and we can say for sure if your a fan of Roo, VIP is the way to go! Both viewing areas at What and Which are amazing, being pit for Phoenix at Which wasn't even a struggle last year and the Hill is... well you won't be disappointed! The viewing areas and close camping alone are worth the money, the showers and bathrooms are just the cherry on top. Don't get me wrong they are still public restrooms and therefore disgusting but compared to Porto's its the Hilton.
Oh and bring a robe! The showers are just a million times easier with them trust us.
If this is your first Roo we would say go General Admission, just to get a feel for the vibe and a lay of the land. Roo can be a little overwhelming for some, so spending that much on VIP tickets with no experience is a little risky.

Oh and for short people the Hill has no bad view, as for Which you can hug the rail and have a clear view and they have these little platforms on the rail you can stand on we both fit on one comfortably.

I am not a fan of the What Stage VIP viewing area. It's far away, they don't serve beers except Coors and Coors Lite, the crowd is too sedate. If I need a chair and some downtime, I'll go there.
The Which Stage VIP viewing area, however, is wonderful.
Also, the bees were much worse before the giant bats started swarming the What Stage pit areas. Those suckers are terrifying.

I concur with your take on the limited beer options at the What stage hill. I honestly walk outside every time I want a beer and grab a craft'y draft from the beer vendor underneath the hill, out in GA. It's annoying to walk out and then back in, but I don't drink light beers. You're also correct about the crowd on the hillside. I've seen people on the hill get up and dance, but it's far more common to see people remain in their seats for shows.

The free ice cream thing always bums me out because I'm lactose intolerant. If you see someone in the big VIP tent looking longingly at his friends and others eating ice cream, it's likely me.
I've asked this in another thread but no one's answered yet. This will be mine and the bf's 5th Bonnaroo and 1st time I'm seriously trying to convince him to fork over the $$$ for VIP. These perks are convincing enough for me, but he was wanting details on food/alcohol (beer & liquor)/etc. Any help from VIP veterans?

They have a meal plan, but you have to buy it. They have a big tent in the VIP camping area that serve the meals. They do hand out free ice cream and free fruits. They also serve draft beer and other beverages in the main VIP tent in the campground. They don't have draft beer on the hill or, if my recollections serve me well, in Centeroo. You also have to buy it. My favorite perk is they have a free outdoor buffet on Thursday, a big party followed by live music. They also hand out free draft beer throughout. It's a great way to meet other people.

Ive gone to bonnaroo three times. Two GA and One VIP.. and can honestly say its a rip off. Th VIP seating at the What and Which Stage is ridiculous I thought I'd go see Artic Monkeys in Vip and I was too far away to experience anything so I left and went into the pit last minute and got in. Better that The VIP hill with seats. The thursday night buffet was okay and the unlimited beer was cool but thats only one night and the brunch is just little bites totally not worth the extra money. Oh and My tent for VIP camping was useless we were further than when we do GA (tent city)plus the tall grass retained water and BUGS so many BUGS.Bathrooms were nicer but not worth $800 a person. The Inside VIP areas have charging stations that lets you drop off your phone and pick it up later which is great if youre one of those ppl who can live without their phone or doesnt own an external battery. and theres usually chairs, a/c, and ice cream at certain times but again not worth the money. Plus sercurity and the ppl giving tickets at comedy cinema dont give two shizs about VIP, and no one was sure where VIP was. I waited to see everything with the VIP band in the GA areas. I saw Janell Monae, Vampire Weekend, and Kanye West all in the pit while all the other VIPers where on the hill. I'll def be doing GA Tents ONly and viewing from the pits.
VIP for life here. The proximity is my favorite part by far. The AC in the bathrooms is great. Not waiting at the gates and much more relaxed searches is nice too. I feel less exhausted throughout the entire show, which makes for a much happier time. If VIP is with in your means, I say it's worth every penny.

1. 10 minutes between the time I get in line at the festival entrance and when I'm parked in my campsite.
2. A campsite that doesn't require me to listen to my neighbors snoring. And my neighbors neighbors. And my neighbors neighbors neighbors. Plus, Tent City looks like a worse living condition than the favelas in Brazil.
3. GA: You hate when your favorite bands play the Which Stage. VIP: You hope your favorite bands play the Which Stage
4. "Hey, I think I'll go to the campsite and have a couple beers at the campsite inbetween Vampire Weekend and Kanye" isn't a dream, it's a reality.
5. Bathrooms that don't require a tetanus shot afterwards.
6. Showers.
7. Ice Cream.
8. Did I mention bathrooms that don't require a tetanus shot?
9. My fiance doesn't hate me by the end of the weekend.
So, yeah...you're allowed to have your opinion. But to me, it's a bargain.

Not sure what seating youre talking about at the Which stage. The seating is Access, the VIP area is to the right of the stage and right by the pit.
Also, I saw probably 4 shows from the pit, but it was nice to sit on the hill when I wanted to. They arent mutually exclusive.

There is no liquor or wine sold anywhere Only beer and cider. I think they only have cider in the Brooers tent.

I'd echo this list and add I find VIP camping to be much more leg/feet friendly. By that, I mean it's situated next to Centeroo, so you don't have to walk potentially long distances to your GA campsite. By Sunday, I still feel like I have a lot of energy because I've done less walking. One drawback I've found is the sound of the What stage in the morning. If you stay up really late, like me, when they flip the switch on the music, soundchecks, whatever, on the other side of the fence, even at 9 a.m., it can be hard to sleep through. I bring ear plug for that reason now.

True that. That What Stage sound check sure is one loud alarm clock.

Has there ever been any clarification on if there is or isn't a VIP viewing area at the tents? I went VIP in 2013 and I consistently got into a "VIP area" that is stage right of That Tent. I would even show the security person my VIP wristband every time and they would let me in with no problems. Was in there when it was empty and packed full of people.

I experienced the exact opposite last year. My friend and I did actually manage to convince one of the security people to let us in the area, but by the time we got to the entrance of it, a different security person told us he lied and that we were not allowed into the viewing area.
I personally think that (especially for Thursday night) the area designated for RLARS/Press in the tents should be open to VIPers as well, because like you said, it was COMPLETELY empty.
Maybe the security people just don't know what they're doing?

Last year my experience was that Thursday was the only night this worked for me. I got in stage right at the Other for Break Science/Polica. Didn't work at any tent for the rest of the weekend.
