Dumpster Fire Revolution sounds like a band that would be in the lower lines of the Hangout lineup. I imagine they'd play shitty white-bro faux reggae, and would tour with acts like 311, Slightly Stoopid, Rebelution, etc.

Yeah, because decent artists never collaborate with shitty ones. This thing called "money" doesn't exist, so every venture undertaken is done purely for the purpose of validating someone's credibility or out of artistic respect. And in this magical fairy land, decent artists don't ever have questionably shitty taste of their own, no sir. So when a legend like Carlos Santana decides to make an album with people like Matchbox 20, Everlast and Michelle Branch, he didn't do so out of a desperate need to appeal to a newer audience for the purpose of increasing his own cash flow, he did it because those artists are Awesome and Excellent and worthy of our Respect. And despite the fact that every instinct tells us that these artists are complete shit, the fact that someone who once had some sort of artistic integrity and credibility chose to collaborate them completely validates them. How wonderful!

Your example is of an industry creation whereas I believe that, yes, sometimes artists play together out of respect, appreciation and enjoyment. Who gets some kind of career enhancement from playing with Slightly Stoopid? ...Oh man, I totally forgot about Bob Weir until he jammed with Slightly Stoopid? ...Marely's, Neville's... they have much bigger names than SS. So any crappy band can get any 'legend' or respected artist to play with them?

Slightly Stoopid. Not shit I want to listen to. I don't really like reggae. I watched them from my balcony that one year they played a while back and I thought it was pretty bad. Not to say I wouldn't give them another chance.

In my city, people do it for all reasons because that's the way it is. Funk bands, rappers, DJ's, brass, rock all play together. Sometimes it's for money (like probably Soul Rebels on stage with Manson in Japan doing Beautiful People). Other times it's out of respect. To the later point, the entirety of Bear Creek Music Fest was built around musicians that liked to jam with each other and sit in on each others' sets. It's pretty obvious that isn't just for the money even though the artists at large are getting paid as such.

Yeah, Bob Weir has no incentive at all to play some songs with a band that is far more popular with the present 18-24 year old demographic than he is. There's no reason for any artist to try and keep their audience fresh by playing with younger acts simply because it's an easy way to broaden your audience.

Saw J. Cole, Rebelution & Pepper perform this week. I wouldn't mind a mid day performance by Pepper or Rebelution on one of the beach stages, they were pretty solid shows. I'm honestly not a huge hip hop fan but J. Cole put on one hell of a show! If Hangout wanted to book him as a Surf closer that would be just fine with me. All I ask is Hangout please, please, please.... Stay away from Sublime W/Rome. My group couldn't take it anymore and we left 5 songs in. They should call it Rome W/Sublime because the lights were only spotlighted on him where as the rest of the band hid in the back the entire time.

If I could get to ACL or they were booked for Hangout 2016; Asleep at the Wheel...dang..."Miles and Miles of Texas", Sturgill Simpson, Father John Misty ( sorry I missed them this year), The Decemberists, Florence and the Machine, of Monsters and Men, Tame Impala, Modest Mouse, Gary Clark Jr, TV on the Radio ( great show at Hangout this year), Dwight Yoakum, Royal Blood, Houndmouth (another miss at Hangout), Strand of Oaks, Moon Taxi, Halsey, Drew Holcomb, and others I just haven't given a listen to yet.
You didn't find TV on the Radio under appreciated at Hangout? To me, it was the most under appreciated set I have seen since Lotus at Buku 2014. They played their asses off facing the sun to some rounds of applause and golf claps. I was like wtf are the thousands of people watching them thinking? That set was fn great.

I knew they were good from YouTube and iTunes, but the energy, the fun, and power of that performance put them at the top ten of Hangout 2015 for me. And doing all that while staring the sun down...props.
Anybody besides me like to see Candy Dulfer play Saxophone at Hangout 2016. Realize this is Jazzfest stuff, but one or two Jazzy performances after dark on the beach would be grooooovy.
