This will be my first year, I read some of the posts about what time to get there, but a little confused since last year seemed to run from Fri-Sun Since this year is Thurs-Sun, should we get there Wed or would we be alright if we got there early Thurs?

early thrusday is the day 85% of rooers will get there. if you get there wendsday you'll end up with liek a 30 min walk; but if your planning on tent onyl that wouldn't matter

so if you show up on Thursday morning, do you get a shorter walk or longer walk? Or is the 30 minute walk the closest you can get when camping by the car? TIA

My reading of this board and personal experience lead me to conclude that arriving Thursday morning and entering the farm off Westbound I-24 will almost guarantee you a spot very close to Centeroo.

if you get there wendsday i thnky ou're garunteed an awful spot. early thursday is the time where people got the most "good" spots. although its really random and patternless

i've gone twice - in 2002 and 2004- both times arrived around 9am FRIDAY morning. in 2002 got a prime spot. in 2004 got one of the worst spots in the place. completely random
this year we're looking to get in around 6pm thursday night.. interested to find out what will happen

So how are the spots assigned? Seems to me the early bird would get the best spot.... but some of these posts lead me to believe that Roo security directs people on where to go or something. Please elaborate... thx
the roo security tells u where to park,if you arrive wed night they will put you if bfe about a 30 min walk but one advantage to bfe is the cleaner crapper compared to out on the big lot.no real long lines for ice or food either...
edited to add: Boz and I share this log in - ^^^^obviously this was him posting because I just cannot envision me posting "cleaner crapper" in response to anything on here - LMAO

What's your hurry, everyone will have his day to die? If you choose to pull the trigger, should your drama prove sincere, Do it somewhere far away from here!
roo officially opens early thursday morning. at 7am. but when people start lining up on wednesday they are almost forced to let people in to avoid shutting down part of the community and to keep the roads safe. but they punish the early arrivers by sticking them way out.
its not an exact science but its not completely random either. if you use the bushy branch entrance you are going to be further away. we had a 40 minute walk when using that entrance. and we got their at around 8 am on thursday. that entrance sux. even the best spots from that entrance ar a hefty walk. the past 2 years we have arrived at the 24 west temporary roo exit (112 i believe. but not positive) between 7 and 8 on thursday morning. we have had the best spots you could possibly get. we could see the main stage and i seriously could have thrown a baseball from our car to camp inforoo last year. we were about 30 feet from tent only. but they dont open that gate until thursday morning between 7 and 8. if you get there too early they will send you to the back entrance. and as the line grows on 24 west the cops will come by and make you leave that line and go to the back entrance to make the highway safer. tell them you and those with you are camping in the handicapped area and the bonnaroo people instructed you to use this entrance for that. it worked for us.
im convinced the 24 west temporary exit between 7 and 9 in the morning on thursday is the way to go. even the less desirable spots from that entrance arent very far from centeroo.

Be sure to use I 24 exit Probably wanna arrive 10 am or later, you may be sitting in line for a while if you get there right when the entrance for I 24 opens. It should thin out after a couple hours,Dont know when the I 24 exit opens. Last year got there at 4:30-5:00PM drove right in no line 7 minute walk to centeroo, gonna try to get there at noon this year.

No. They don't like people getting there before they are supposed to.
1.Come Wednesday...you get BFE 2.Come before 7am Thursday...you get BFE 3.Anytime after that it is totally random but you most likely won't be in BFE

Not always the case. Arrived 2PM last year and was in BFE. We went thru the back entrance with about 1 min waiting period.
get IN by 5PM Thursday (edit - Thursday(2nd edit - err..on somthin)) if you wanna see it all. Anything later is your choice with regards to the schedule and the music.
Ok, I want to be as close to the action as possible so I have been thinking about Tent-only. However will it be possible to check out where they would put me with car camping to see if I luck into a good spot or will I be locked into tent camping at the gate?
I don't know how true this is, but I went to the Wanee Music Festival and ran into a photographer that had been to Bonnaroo every year and he told me that the most ideal time was to leave like early Thursday morning. Is that the ideal time to leave? And if so when exactly should I leave? I am about 2 and a half hours away from Manchester.
i am driving solo (MAYBE with a couple of other cars but we will see) leaving from marietta ga at something like 9 -10 am. i figure that would put me there or at least in line no later than 1. i based this time upon reading many threads of the sort. im thinking that mid afternoon is the best bet. we will see
It sounds like the consensus here is that on Thursday morning, exit 112 off I-24 West is the way to go. I will be coming down I-24 East (south from Nashville)... so am I better off passing exit 111, then exiting later to get on I-24 West so I can get to exit 112? Or will traffic be too tied up around noon for me to make this maneuver? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
That's best but may not be possible. Not to confuse things but THP shuts down some exits at their discretion. There is an exit at 114 where you may be allowed off and back on or they may take you all the way to Exit 127 and bring you in the back way (and delay you hours).
There's no way of knowing if and when they'll close exits (They may even close exit 111) so go with your gut. But turn around at Exit 114 sounds best if possible.
We prefer BFE - we get in late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning. It is far more pleasant to set up camp when it's not 95 degrees out (mind you, I travel with an Eagle scout and and engineer, we're all great campers). We do walk longer but there is no 'which first street is this' nonsense and the music doesn't keep you up if there's a gap in your schedule.
Believe it or not - our favorite spot was behind a line of crappers in '05. Way more room and little foot traffic through camp. They did a good job keeping them clean.

I think I would much rather be closer than cleaner...30 minute walk last year (even though we did have a lot of room). 5 minute walk in '05 and we could see and hear the stage from our camp. Oh yeah - we definitely got to Bonnaroo a little earlier than the year before as well....

If anyone wants and they get a good spot on a busy street, I will pay $100 for that spot if they save it for me. I'm trying to get the Van raffel exposure, so $100 to whoever....I need a spot 14 feet wide X 17 feet wide right at a busy shakedown up front. I will be camped temporarily at one of the front gates, so my effort to get a good spot may not work out. maybe we can hook up thru the cel phone to do it.
I remember in 2004, I think, we were vendors, so we were camped right behind the main wall just a bit left of center stage. I had an RV at the time, so it was way sweet to lounge on top of the RV watching Trey and the firworks right at the wall....
thanx for this thread, ...give us an idea of what to possibly do.....also, if you have some friedns driving arriving ealrier than you, you may try calling them on the cell phone and asking about timing and where they are parking people at a particular time, since they are in already and can watch for a good entry for you. Then they can hang at your camp for the favor if they get a really bad far away spot. Hopefully, there's a spot they can pull over into till the timing is right to get back into line to get the good camp spot.

As your attorney I advise you to drive at top speed and it'll be a Goddamn miracle if we get there before you turn into some kind of wild animal. Are you ready for that? Checking into a Las Vegas hotel under a phony name with the intent to commit capital fraud with a head full of acid? I certainly hope so...
