My big question is are they just gonna play the cheesy, big hits stuff or are they gonna do some of the music that came out of the 80's that was actually amazing? Like, will it be a bunch of Madonna and nonsense like that? Which, don't get me wrong, would be fun and all but doesn't begin to show how great this could really be. I hope they include at least half of these artists: The Cure, Depeche Mode, INXS, Devo, The Clash, Run DMC, NWA, Duran Duran, Fugazi, Hüsker Du, Public Enemy, The Smiths, Sonic Youth, Minutemen, Slick Rick, Tone L?c. I know there are many others but I'm just going off the top of my head.

When I hear 80's throwback, I picture more of the cheesy, big hits stuff. Madonna makes sense. You could might get Devo, Run DMC, Duran Duran or Tone Loc but you probably won't get The Clash, NWA, Fugazi, etc. I wouldn't expect much serious, political stuff. My two cents...

Yeah, I'm sure you're right and we are completely on the same page. My biggest hopes that I'm not so sure will happen are The Cure, Depeche Mode, and INXS because they all have huge songs that everyone knows but they are still exceptional artists. Just one song from each of them, perhaps it could be Lovesong or Friday I'm in Love, Personal Jesus, and Never Tear Us Apart. The only thing I disagree on is NWA. It was hugely political but their stuff is so iconic that I could still see it happening (I've already excepted no Fugazi, Clash, The Smiths, etc. Though... How Soon Is Now would be amazing)
The leaked lineup is a bit of a sausagefest. Hopefully they get some ladies to join in because some great 80's tunes were female-fronted. Not that they couldn't be sung by males but they shouldn't have to be.

I would love to hear some INXS. Got to see them on Valentine's Day in 91. Good times.

I can't explain to you how jealous I am. I wasn't born til '94 so I clearly missed the boat on my chance to see them (and many other 80's/90's artists)

I lucked out on that one. I don't think that I ever had an opportunity to see them again.

Only Tone Loc out of that list. Mainly because you are way to hopeful.

I loved this movie growing up, in the 80s. I think I watched it a few years ago...disappointing. All the sudden I feel old.

That movie is still awesome. So is the soundtrack. Fun fact, that spinning room he's dancing in is the same studio set from the original Nightmare on Elm Street, both filmed in 1984. It's the scene were Tina is pulled up on the ceiling and slashed up.

The breakdancing is awesome, the acting... Not so much. i might need to rewatch it again. Just to check out the set.

so how likely is it that we get a surprise solo Pretty Lights set? enlighten me inforoo gods
Personally, I don't think he will do this at the end of the super jam (though there a minute possibility it happens.) But, if he does DJ somewhere on the grounds at some point over the weekend, my money is on him doing an unannounced show at Kalliope. I think the odds of a Kalliope show are decent, but it's still doubtful.

I am taking the stance that there is no way he is there just to do the Superjam. He will play The Other after the superjam, and I wouldnt take Kalliope off the table either.
