Pretty stellar reporting by Mr. Young on this LCD reunion. He's owned this story from day one and have no doubts that his reports are true. The AEG offer was the impetus to the reunion but I imagine now they'll just take all the cash they can get.
Yeah I'm impressed with how he stuck by Launchpad's info without wavering, while taking 100% of the credit. Very inspiring.
Fwiw, the info didnt even originate from Launchpad. And I can also confirm that the stories are based on numerous sources that have nothing to do with Inforoo.
Basically, the LCD reunion info was presented to a few inforoo'ers by another infooroo'er who doesnt really post here anymore. That info was then presented to Launchpad who was able to cross-confirm it with HIS sources.
The talk on this forum was presented to CoS, who then used their own sources to again cross-confirm and thus the numerous articles.

Yeah I kinda figured Launchpad leaking it just made COS more comfortable with posting the info since it was already out there at that point. I just wanted to join in on shitting on Alex Young
I don't really understand all the Alex Young hate. Did he run over your dog or something?
He's broken a lot of false stories in the past in regards to Bonnaroo(h used to post here). And now CoS just takes stories and rumors from other sites and message boards and runs with it as their own story.
Basically when they claim sources it's just taken from here or another website.

This is false. You are giving inforoo way too much credit. He has had his own sources for the LCD reunion.

CoS completely stole credit for the Pearl Jam confirmation when it was actually uncovered by an Inforoo member. It's pretty shameless. There is no integrity in journalism anymore, it's all about being first and taking credit, to hell with the facts.

Meh, a bunch of people knew about Pearl Jam before it was "uncovered." I'm sure he had already caught wind of it.
I mean, I would hope that an outfit like CoS has some sort of actual industry sources they use. But it seems pretty disingenuous to deny that they tend to snag rumors from message boards. It can't be a coincidence that every single time a rumor or confirmation pops up on Inforoo, or the Coachella boards, or whatever, CoS has an article up a short while later "breaking" that same story, always "confirmed" by "multiple sources."
I have no doubt he does. I can remember the old days when he posted here and people would call him out directly for it.

When did he stop posting? What was his name? Just curious.

So if CoS confirms a scoop that Inforoo had first, they're stealing from Inforoo without giving credit but if Billboard or Pitchfork do the same, they get a pass?
If somebody wins a gold medal in the olympics, did the person who first reported their accomplishments actually achieve anything? In my mind not really and who cares.

If I owned a website I wouldn't give story credit to a freakin message board either. It's a bad look.
all i wanna see before i die
Consequence Of Sound
"BREAKING: Pearl Jam NOT playing Bonnaroo '16!"
The story broke on the inforoo message boards, where a member under the user name of "Hiltons" dropped the hot scoopz. According to Hiltons, it will actually be Eric Clapton and Phish that take the farm in 2016! Cya in the lazy river!

Precisely. Sorry guys but a website crediting some message board is kind of a joke. It's not like The Rolling Stone is going to say, "According to Daytime Goth from Inforoo..." Really? Do you expect them to do that?

They wouldn't have to cite specific posters. They could at least mention "inforoo" or even just mention that a rumor started to "gain traction across various messageboards, inspiring us to investigate further."

Plenty of them have with GNR scoopz though.
Calling it "our sources" is pretty cheap though too. Just call it what it is. Rumors.
Anybody remember when COS said that Roger Waters and Neil Young were headlining Bonnaroo citing their own sources? And when they were wrong they said it came from a bunch of basement dwelling losers from inforoo?
