Yea when I get in those situations, I usually call them and say "Hey, my roommate's flight will be getting in 8hrs before mine so I need their name added to the reservation so they can check-in without me"
I moved to California recently and I'm thinking of hitting coachella up this year. Haven't heard of many of the artists on the lineup and would like some recommendations of where to start.
I've listened to and liked LCD soundsystem, Surfjan Stevens, M83, GNR, Ice cube, Disclosure, Run the Jewels, Gary Clark jr, the damned, flume, rancid, miike snow, and death grips.
I've listened to and didn't like Jack U, A$AP Rocky, of monsters and men, g-easy, Calvin Harris, Major lazer, and Matt and Kim.

I apologize for the stupid question in advance but I want to make sure - if I have a car, I can just park in the festival lots with a GA ticket, is that correct? Is this a bad idea traffic wise? I don't plan on drinking much so that won't be a problem.
You can buy hotel packages at any time. I stayed at mission hills in 2013 and riviera in 2014. Went back to mission hills this year.
Actually, if you're wanting to go and stay in a hotel, and you don't currently have tickets or a hotel, this is a good option. All the cheap options have been swooped by now, so the markup on the packages isn't too crazy at this point.
Edit: I mean to say all the cheap options you could arrange on your own are pretty much gone.

As far as I'm aware, yeah. For what it's worth, a couple of years ago a friend of ours who was local was doing this, and he never had a problem with traffic as he arrived to the fest pretty early each day.

I drove in every day and parking was a breeze and free. I know you are a football fan so I was expecting traffic similar or worse than when you park at a game but it was much, much easier than that. There wasn't really a backup on the roads and the parking people know what they are doing. I was very impressed. Just remember where you parked. I was wandering the parking lot for 2 hours after AC/DC last year as there aren't a lot of signs/landmarks in the parking lot.
Thanks to both of you! Still deciding whether to buy today, wait for stubhub/craigslist, or not go at all...decisions, decisions.

yeah, coming from S. Florida, its always been better for me to book the tickets and the hotel and the shuttle pass through the valley music travel folks. they have really decent customer service and dont leave me with a lot to think about. just show up and go.
Word of advice. Rivera is a nice hotel. I really liked it. Brunch each morning was awesome. Service was great. Downtown Palm Springs is cool if you pop in a day early. However, you are the last stop on a loooong shuttle.
Mission Hills is much more subdued, older crowd, nice rooms (not as swanky as Rivera but comfortable) Much closer.

In addition to these very solid recs, make sure you give Courtney Barnett, Alvvays and Vince Staples a listen!

I'd like to add in GoGo Penguin, Bob Moses, Mavis Staples and for what its worth while Matt & Kim do little for me on their albums, their live show is nuts if you are in the thick of it.

My body is ready. I got lucky for Prince tickets. I made it in for Tool/Primus. I hate these nailbiters though. It will be a huge load off my mind if I end today with a ticket.
As long as you try for weekend 2 you at least have a shot.
No, everyone should go for Weekend 1, why would you want to see something you watched on the live stream the previous weekend? /reverse psychology
Weekend 2 is better because everyone not going to Coachella will watch the livestreams wk1 and talk about how terrible everything is/was/looks, this will lower your expectations so when you actually get there and it's all amazing; BOOM.
This is the fourth Coachella I've bought tickets for and then not gone to, either because of weak lineups or logistics. I need to improve this shitty fucking track record.

I will still watch the livestream weekend 1 and then be there weekend 2. I'm lame, what can I say...
