Interesting read on the GnR reunion, balancing the pros and cons
To come out in the black on these estimated expenses would require a $100 average ticket price on 50,000 fans, or a $90 average ticket price on 60,000 tickets sold.
in 13-14, they were routinely playing US venues in the 3000-5000 range with the "new" lineup, and a lot of those weren't even selling out.
Now they're going to somehow attract an additional 45-50k fans based on adding Slash and Duff? 10x the crowd, really?
If the stadium tour were stock, I would be shorting the hell out of it. It may sell decently well for a single date each in NY/LA/CHI/TOR, but other than that this is not going to be The Rolling Stones. There's no way this will get close to filling a football stadium in Seattle, Indianapolis, Charlotte, Phoenix, and other mid-size football cities, especially at $100 avg ticket cost.
This is just way too ambitious. Should have stuck to arenas and done multiple nights in the metropoleis.

I don't think they're actually going to do a nationwide stadium tour. Hell, that article says one of their first dates will be an arena in Vegas. They'll do arenas and the occasional stadium, or they won't do 25 dates, or they won't get 3 million for every show. They're just putting all this out in the press now to get the buzz going, and they'll negotiate down from there.
At this point I wouldn't be surprised if no tour was announced till after Coachella. Enough promoters could want to wait and see that they just can't make it happen.

This has been one of the most wanted reunions in rock n' roll history. I don't think stadiums are too far fetched even today - especially given that all of the essential elements have agreed to make this thing happen.
Wants: Flume, Beach House, Death Grips, Anderson .Paak, Tensnake, Joywave, Cassy, Girlpool
Would check out: Major Lazer, Chris Stapleton, Death Grips, Nathaniel Rateliff, Adam Beyer & Ida Engberg, Wolf Alice, HudMo, Claptone, Melody's Echo Chamber, Digweed, Meg Myers, De Lux
OK, I'm going to come clean and admit that I know nothing of Sia other than her radio song. Why do people love her so much and where do I start?
She has a nice/interesting voice and writes her own songs in addition to writing for other pop stars. Not sure if this is true, but I remember reading somewhere that all the songs on 1000 Forms of Fear, she wrote for other artists and they decided not to use them. My favorite album from her is Colour The Small One, but I'd assume she'll draw mostly from 1000 Forms of Fear, her new album and probably the song Breathe Me.
Plus she hasn't done any shows in like 5 years and Sunday is pretty light lineup wise.

What have been some of your favorite discoveries while researching this lineup?
Rhye - thought this was a girl singing for the longest time. It's like a male Sade Years & Years - for some reason I thought this was a pop punk band whenever I saw the name, but damn was I wrong. "King" is gonna be one of the songs I dance the hardest to. Carla Morrison - Spanish-singing gal, recommend "Eres Tu" Masha Miami Horror Mt. Carmack Laspley
Every other fest I can find that had the Despacio, listed it as Despacio: 2manydjs and James Murphy. Since it doesn't list it that way on the Coachella poster you could guess other people will play it too?
I'm not sure, just bored and spitballing. I'm watching The Black Madonna's boiler room and she's using vinyl and I know I've seen a vinyl set from Cassy on youtube. Would be pretty cool if they brought in others to use the Despacio

Considering they say "All Weekend", I'd imagine a bunch of people will be taking part, not just Murphy and Soulwax.

This is how it's been listed at other fests, no idea if they were the only ones that used it or not here though.
