How does Coachella camping compare to Bonnaroo camping? What is considered BFE at Coachella? Just curious as we may be getting there in late afternoon/early evening on Thursday.

When I went a few years ago, I was in "BFE" for Coachella. By "BFE", I mean like a 15 minute walk to the venue. You're really close wherever you camp there.

Thanks! Yeah, in general, the aerial Coachella camping shots seemed significantly smaller but it was hard to say for sure. After being in the very back at Bonnaroo and walking 45ish minutes, it would be hard for Coachella to top that.

Coachella camping is basically like Bonnaroo VIP camping as far as distance, the farthest spot is still pretty dang close. And free showers, yay! Also they have great food vendors and campground activities. It's all pretty nice.

I've seen chatter about Thursday "activities" in the campground. What's the deal there? Should I do that or stick with my current plan of hanging out at a nearby pool all day? Mind you campground vibes for the sake of vibes don't do a lot for me.

Don't change your current plans for the camping activities. Not saying they're bad but it's nothing worth worrying about.

I've never done the Thursday activities myself but I remember really hokey stuff being advertised closer to the fest (last year it was a raffle and snowball fight, for instance). They also sell old merch that didn't sell out in previous years. I'd stick to the pool.

I did the snowball fight last year, it was surprisingly a lot of fun. Also kind of hurt like hell, which was surprising. I'd say the campground activities were a fun thing to do on Thursday (There was also human foosball and other sportsy stuff, plus some raffles) if you're there, but yeah it's nothing to get super excited about.

If you're there it'd be better than sitting around for sure, but if you have access to a pool I'd go with a pool every time
And did you really have to sign a waiver to join in the snowball fight?

What are the odds that Guns n Roses actually kill it and prove themselves a capable headliner? I want to believe. But I also anticipate 1-2 conflicts with them that I actually care about.

I actually think the odds are higher than people think. You'll probably know from the first few songs, honestly, so if Axl sounds like dogshit on "Welcome to the Jungle" then peace out for a bit and go catch Chvrches or DJ Koze or whatever, then wander back for the end of GNR when they bring out the orchestra for "November Rain" and shit.
That's the plan. I'm still getting used to this "not having a schedule or tickets within a month of the festival." So my head is pretty much filled with endless conflict scenarios and revised packing lists.
But, I'm guessing since everything moves so quickly once its in place, I'll have a permanent grin on my face for the two weeks leading up to the fest.
Waiting all day the Tuesday before the first weekend for the schedule to drop is fucking agony. And then sometimes they wait until Wednesday, just because.
sorry didn't see that. just kept scrolling expecting everyone to still be talking about still kinda fat axl.
