I know Modest Mouse has been discussed multiple times but new tour dates have come out mostly through July and no sign of a nashville date. It becomes more plausible that they are a big add. I know forecastle, Canada fest- AC blah blah, but album drops in two weeks. Good time to add a band that wants to promote an album and roo to add some punch.
This is my hopeful face????.
Modest mouse and hot chip would top this thing off for me!
If not ryman show in late summer early fall seems to be the fate.

Maybe the AmA is to see how content everyone is with the current lineup. If enough people keep asking questions about additions during the AmA they'll add more people, if not they will keep it as it is. I love speculations.

I compare this year to 2012 like Ive said before. Everything may just come a little earlier because the initial release was earlier. In 2012, the amount of acts announced was the closest to any other year, and in 2012 they announced 6 names(5 well known) in mid-late March, then they did the cafe acts/comedys acts/additional acts in April like normal. So, I think, we get the AMA, then in about a week or two we get like 5-10 acts in the mid tier range, maybe one more big name, but I doubt it. Damn, Beck will fill this lineup up nicely.
Pretty good additions that year:
Danzig Puscifer Santigold The Temper Trap fun. The Cave Singers

I think their best way to determine that would be ticket sales.

The majority of tickets are probably bought late May- early June.
Would you rather they go big on a comedy lineup or another big name to the mix?
Personally, not interested in comedy additions. I realize that it increases the overall experience of Bonnaroo, but I've never been to a comedy show in my 4 years.

Selfish answer is both for the extra money we're paying, but I wouldn't mind seeing someone like Louis CK added for an actual stage show.
You're right, you would think that with the increase = more acts. But who knows, maybe they added more infrastructure or could be anything really. Firefly costs about the same with camping split between 6 people. Each year people expect more and more and are surprised when the ticket prices raise. But with this current Bonnaroo lineup I gotta believe there's more to this. Bonnaroo usually never falls short and I don't count on them to do it this year, I'm expecting something big here.

Majority of tickets aren't bought late may/early june. Too many people come from too far away to play that game. I bet 10% are in that final stage. Id say atleast 60% is within a month of the lineup. By now they know what's going on and if they need adds. Id also say some adds are intentional from the start.
FYI: AC announced the expanded cinema portion of Big Ears today, so it'd be unlikely for them to do Bonnaroo news today too.
Also, just as a follow-up, AC tweeted out yesterday that there would be an announcement today for Big Ears. Not sure of that's standard operating procedure, but something to keep in mind.

Unfortunately the increase in ticket costs could be many things (other AC festivals, rising band costs, inflation, etc.), or what you stated. Someone in here made a good point too that they could be going for less attendance than years past, and might not be trying to cram 90,000 people in there. Who knows but I'm sure we'll get some insight in tomorrow's AMA.

I'd go with another big music name instead of a big comedian, unless they put said big name comedian on a stage instead of in the comedy tent. Cause otherwise I'll never get a chance to see the big comedian.
I'd take a Louis CK stage set over most potential music adds I can think of right now.

I'm still holding out for Beck. His dates would allow it, and with Mumford playing a fest the week before roo in Seaside Heights, it took the thrill out of that. I doubt we get Beck, but it would be awesome. I doubt the comedy addition would affect artist additions though. I watched Tosh and John Waters, both were worth the wait if you do it right. It's the only way i go in early anyways.

Or maybe they used our Bonnaroo money to fund Way Home.

They have a Chattanooga date. Just as close to Manchester than Nashville is.

I'm still quite upset over the false primus confirmation, can we collectively revisit and mourn plzkthx?
Don't know how far you are from it, but All good festival has them headlining. It is a shame they got false confirmed, would have been a great late night set.

This one hurt me so much and reinforced my initial distaste with this year's lineup announcement method. So stupid. Roo needs to stick with live youtube broadcast reveals.

Personally, I'd love a big-name comedian, but this will be my first Roo so I'm not sure what to expect of the comedy act anyway.
If it's going to cost me several hours of waiting in line, I'd probably prefer a Modest Mouse-esque addition.. However, if they were to add a big comedian on a stage, that would likely win for me.
1/30: Cold War Kids
2/6: Cherub
4/22: The Mountain Goats
5/25: Laura Jane Grace "Killing Me Loudly"
5/31: The Decemberists
6/11-6/14: BONNAROO 2015
6/28: Against Me!
6/30: Against Me!
I have a feeling some people will wince at this. But my gut's telling me that Kevin Hart is going to be on the comedy lineup.
I'm not super up to date on his standup but whatever the special he has with the bit where he cusses out his teacher is hilarious. I know its broad comedy but I still laughed really really hard.
He's been in a few stinker movies but I think he's a genuinely talented guy.
