This is dumb. They both play a mix of arenas, theatres and fests. The big difference is he's Jack White, he was in the White Stripes. Deadmau5 is not on that level. If they were on the same lineup Jack would be listed ahead of Deadmau5.
Its dumb to say if an artist could sell 20,000 tickets or 5,000 tickets he would choose to sell 20,000 tickets? Jack white played two arenas on his last tour, one in his hometown and one in NYC, the rest were 5,000 capacity theaters. Jack White isn't arena status yet, while Deadmau5's last tour was an arena tour and the next one is too
Deadmau5 had an arena tour? Pretty sure he played 2 arenas.

Some bands enjoy playing intimate shows maybe? Also, I saw Jack on his last tour playing to roughly 19,000 people in Toronto (Deadmau5's hometown).
Jack White - 9 time Grammy award winning rockstar and multi-instrumentalist who sells out whatever venue he plays, has been in one of the most popular bands of the 21st century, has absolutely nailed it with two solo albums, and can start a band whenever he wants and they be awesome(The Racontuers, The Dead Weather)
Deadmau5 - Presses buttons on a computer to a crowd filled with drugged up teenagers wearing neon and screaming until they pass out.

Jack White just played at the Schottenstein Center (arena) in Columbus, sans upper section. deadmau5 plays small venues and large venues, so does Jack White and many other high-value artists. They both have huge fan bases.
Really none of this matters; they are both very popular, huge artists.
Of who? Deadmau5 fucking sucks. Even though he's terrible that doesn't mean he's a "button pusher"
Food for thought on this debate about electronic musicians (from electronic artist Phutureprimitive):
To those who say a computer isn’t an instrument:
Sure, its not traditional.
Neither are digital cameras. Does this mean movies shot with digital cameras instead of film are not “real” movies either?
Sure, there is electricity involved with a computer. But then, there is also electricity involved in an electric guitar, or the speakers used to amplify a band, or the synthesizers used by Pink Floyd, or the gear used to bring us any kind of current recorded music whatsoever, acoustic, electronic, or otherwise.
A computer may not have strings or a keyboard or a mesh head like traditional instruments. But then, neither does the human body, so you better alert Bobby McFerrin his body isn’t a legitimate instrument. I guess that goes for every other beatboxer for that matter, since a mouth is not really a drum kit.
Sure, they don’t sell computers at the music store but …. wait, have you been to Guitar Center in the last decade?
Sure, computers allow a person to make music step by step (or real time if you prefer), one note at a time, thereby allowing those who don’t have the skill or dexterity or years of practice with an instrument to still express themselves musically or produce a musical work of art. Should we tell them their form of expression isn’t valid because they “do it differently?”
A computer may not fit into your “traditional” definition of an instrument. Yet, do you realize how many things we interact with daily, how many conveniences we have, how much art that exists all because there arrived a technology or way of thinking or a single person who chose to push the boundaries of what is “normal” or traditional?
Consider this… the first instruments weren’t instruments at all. They were animals and sticks and wood. Horse hair strung across a bowed stick and plucked. Animal hide stretched across a bowl to make a drum. Deer hooves fastened to the end of a stick to make a rattle. Instruments started out as something totally different. Things repurposed in order to create sound and rhythm and melody. You could say the same thing about a computer.

sang_xcx adding a like to this moronic drivel really puts it over the top.

I've always thought the same when it comes to edm.. Shit, hip hop is really edm! The whole "button pusher" thing is just stupid. Of course there are djs that are up there only for their name or celebrity status and yes, they are just pushing buttons, literally. Sometimes not even mixing tracks or even pushing real buttons, like you see in funny youtube videos of dj setups that arent even plugged in and they are just there for show. Yes, this does happen. It also happens with major productions, like lip singing at the super bowl for instance. The problem is, people that dont really know anything about edm will relate situations like this to all edm artists. Any artist producing edm music has to learn the fundamentals to create a song the same way someone has to learn how to play any other instrument.
I'm not hating on deadmau5, edm, or anything really. I'm just arguing that Jack White is one of the greatest musical minds of all time and unless it's an edm-centered fest, he'll get the higher billing every time.

Not hating on Deadmau5 or anything. He's just a no good button pushing Canadian playing to drugged out teenagers and nothing more

Deadmau5 is at the peak of his 15 min of fame, in a 15 min of fame genre. Jack White is a modern day Neil Young. We'll see who's who in about 10 years, even though Jack White's about 15 years in already.

That was a hyperbole to show the difference talent-wise between the two.

deadmau5 released his first album 10 years ago, and he is worth an estimated $45 million. Electronic music, specifically the house genre, has been increasingly popular since the 1990s. It's laughable to say he is in his 15 minutes of fame. The same goes for the genre. I'm a fan of electronic music, and I'm not trying to take anything away from Jack White, who is one of my favorite artists, because comparing the two is really apples and oranges.
It's okay to not like an artist or style of music, but just saying things to talk is annoying.
