Gotta love when someone starts a fire but they forgot that there is a distinct likelihood/reality that the fire was started because of them, so they try to riff off of the people making fun of the fire-starter in a blind attempt to make it seem like the fire-starter is some unknown presence in the conversation, but really every single other person that even casually glances back at the kindling knows exactly what's going on. Man. Gotta love denial. And run-on sentences.

Deadmau5 has made a bunch of music over the years. I'd say 3-5 tracks that really stand out to the average edm listener. He definitely has more recognizable hits if your into that type of edm and has had a huge impact on the scene, and yes a lot has to do with his Deadmau5 head that stands out and has become a symbol in the scene for the last 5 years. He will probably be around for a while and will probably have future collaborations with artists in the future. His historical status is still up the air though, I would say. Someone like Fatboy Slim has really impacted the scene more and I feel he wouldn't be booked anywhere near top 3, so Deadmau5's placement is also due to popularity through recognition at the time, and his elaborate setup he has that will probably be like a daft punk pyramid show. His show is more of an "experience" rather than a classic rock show.
Deadmau5 is "All of the Marvel Movies". All of em. Some Great, Some not so great, alot of flash, biggest and newest technology, extremely popular in its own genre, has his own costume.
Jack White. You know what your getting, no matter what group he is in. He's great on a guitar, has a unique voice, and can write great songs. He will go down in history because he will continue to do what he's doing and keep collaborating and getting bigger and more well known. Is his stuff kind of boring once you get past all the classic White Stripe songs and some here and there greats from his other projects and solo stuff? Yeah, kinda boring. It's just raw song writing on an electric guitar and for some it's genius, for me it's good, but I'd be ok if I didn't hear a new Jack White album for 5 years or more.
Jack White is "The James Bond movies" They will always be around and some decades will be better then others.
Can I ask why we're comparing musicians from completely different genres? And then comparing those musicians with a completely different artform altogether?
"Deadmau5 is like the Gherkin in London, all flashy and interesting, and Jack White is just some decrepit East End building that might have been nice way back when."
"Nah bro, Jack White is like the Louvre: beautiful and classy, mostly of an older style but with a modern finish. Deadmau5 is just the Tour Montparnasse - drab and soulless."
"See, I think Deadmau5 makes a delicious salad by combining all those elements, whereas all Jack White does is throw a steak on the grill."
"You're all wrong. Jack White is a yurt because he's simple but beautiful, and Deadmau5 is an igloo, because he's just that chill."
Electronica is a different genre, and it's unfair to criticise it simply because it's made in a different way. Singer-songwriters who play the same few chords over and over can be just as lazy as DJs. However, I've seen a lot of electronica acts live, and Deadmau5 is one of the laziest ones. Can he rock a crowd? Yes. Does he make any attempt to add live instrumentation, or even hide how easily be replaced by an iPod? Nope.
So fuck all o' y'all - I say Jack White is handmade cavatelli on the Riviera, and Deadmau5 is Costco off-brand Spaghetti-Os.
I hear you're buying a synthesizer and an arpeggiator and are throwing your computer out the window because you want to make something real. You want to make a Yaz record. I hear that you and your band have sold your guitars and bought turntables. I hear that you and your band have sold your turntables and bought guitars. I hear everybody that you know is more relevant than everybody that I know.

At the end of the day you are comparing a florist to a farmer. You have DM who within the genre (prog house) is standout. Tight production, emotive without reducing itself to generic stabs (i.e. big room) His actual Techno production is rather good, and an entire Techno set would be a real treat. The head shtick is pretty fucking dumb (personal opinion) At the end of the day however, he produces one note at a time, there is so technical skill with an instrument. He arranges sounds, he is a florist.
Then you have Jack White. I am not a passionate fan. I'm familiar with the White Stripe work, the Dead Weather, and the solo work, but peripherally. I've seen a media piece or two. You have a guy who can move through multiple instruments, work with multiple partners on projects and produce solid sometimes defining pieces of music. He actually grows music and for better or worse this will always hold greater value than being an arranger of sounds, a mixer of records.
Both have value, depending on the location both can sell out large venues. You can live without a florist, its pretty hard to live without a farmer.
Now, why we are having this argument is beyond me.
Regarding late ads.
The Tune Yards - They have a break in between their UK and Canada dates that fit. Would be a rad add for me as I've never seen them live. Joey Bada$$ - There is a break in June but it would be a trip back and forth across the Atlantic. James Vincent McMorrow - Same issue as JBA, he's in Europe but has the opening.

Could be reading way too much into it, but Bonnaroo recently tweeted out a picture of soup that spelled out BONNAROO with the tweet text saying "All souped up for the coming week!". Possibly a hint of news this week.
