What is with the sudden day pass discussion? Did I miss an announcement that legitimate day passes are being offered or are we still referring to the Shuttle + day pass option that has been around for a couple of years?
Bonnaroo announced daily schedules and day passes being available.
But is this a different day pass from the Shuttle + day pass they have offered in the past? The email I received yesterday with the daily lineup seems to be referring to that same setup.
Yeah, this looks like the shuttle day pass to me. This is not new. Good news everyone, Bonnaroo is not ruined.
How is this theoretically any different than a normal day pass....?
Because it costs $200 and you are required to take a shuttle. They have offered this for at least the last two Bonnaroos. With the sudden discussion in this thread, I thought people were referring to an offer of affordable day passes that did not require a shuttle rather something that has already been around.

EDIT: $200 per day
That's what I thought people were talking about. I was aware of the shuttle passes, but I wasn't sure what the big deal was this year. I did not know they were $200. Yikes.
They started doing them with McCartney, right? Or was it earlier
I think that is right.
I believe this all came from a deal Bonnaroo made with folks in Nashville. (And yes, it started in 2013.) They would do single day passes in exchange for access to lodging and transportation. It essentially opened a new pipeline for Bonnaroo and allowed Nashville to get a cut.
Also....I'm completely against day tickets. It's lame. Either man up for four days or go to a city festival.
I definitely agree with you 100% for Bonnaroo! Other festivals I wouldn't say so, but Bonnaroo is all about the vibe, when everyone is together camping, roughing it out for 4 days, meeting your neighbors, enjoying the down time, hating the sun, having to buy ice constantly, listening to music, etc etc etc.. PLENTY of other festivals that can do single day tickets!
I keep thinking of all the Nashville suits that are going to be buying day passes to the farm for Billy Joel. It's sure to ruin Bonnaroo and the hetti vibes that are left on Sunday night.
EXACTLY! I went to both Counterpoints. The first was great. The second was too, but the second one had day passes. Mind you, this is Atlanta, an Outkast was doing their first show after Coachella. Let's just say, it's the only time I saw multiple fights at a festival.
At $200/day, these passes seem to be for old people who really want to see an artist or two but physically couldn't handle the farm. Any fanboy/girl would just pay the extra money and go for 4 days instead.
I'll take a bunch of old people over you people any day (or more specifically, whichever day Billy J is stroking those keys )

Bitch, don't kill my vibe...is what I always say to those pesky day-pass folks. They just don't understand what it's like to be a true Bonnaroovian.

I think everyone is making this an entirely bigger deal than it needs to be. This is the third year they are doing single day tickets. Did anyone even notice in past years that people were there for specific days?
This has nothing to do with slow ticket sales (even though ticket sales may or may not be slow). And the )))VIBE((( of Bonnaroo does not hinge on this.

Yes, because no one has ever wanted to attend Bonnaroo but couldn't make all four days due to some uncompromising obligation. Sometimes, I think people here take for granted the fact that they have both the financial ability and time flexibility to attend a 4-day music festival. Especially when that involves one or two additional travel days.
This is probably nothing but Andrew WK retweeted this: If @andrewwk gets added to bonnaroo I PROMISE the #Pondoarmy will PARTY HARD!
Wish is were true but highly unlikely because he is in the UK on the Saturday.
This Andrew WK thing started when Pondo tweeted about wanting him to come, tagging him in the tweet. I asked Pondo if he was rumored and Andrew WK responded that he always wanted to party at Bonnaroo.
It doesn't sound like he's playing. On the plus side, he's now following me on Twitter!

My only thing is that I don't remember them breaking the lineup into separate days like this in the past. Maybe I missed it because I don't always pay attention to the official site (and just get my updates here). I thought they just waited until the Schedule was out or something for the day passes.

I'm not understanding the connection you're trying to make.

You're right. That is a bit of a deviation from previous years. Think that means they are worried? And should we be worried because I'd love a less packed roo.

Here's a weird thought I had: over the years folks have speculated sometimes whether there might be a "Thursday headliner". Now that they broke it up by days, Tove Lo is technically the Thursday headliner now? I mean 99.9% sure it won't be on a stage, but still....does this count?

It really isn't that big of a deal, but yes, I do notice it the difference. It's not a huge difference, but you can definitely tell.

Basically, that made only Outkast fans come which included fighting. Sunday will bring a bunch of nicely dressed Billy Joel fans who have no idea what just went down the last 3 days. It's not a big deal, but big enough that I feel they shouldn't do day tickets.
