I think everyone is making this an entirely bigger deal than it needs to be. This is the third year they are doing single day tickets. Did anyone even notice in past years that people were there for specific days?
This has nothing to do with slow ticket sales (even though ticket sales may or may not be slow). And the )))VIBE((( of Bonnaroo does not hinge on this.
It really isn't that big of a deal, but yes, I do notice it the difference. It's not a huge difference, but you can definitely tell.
I'm not understanding the connection you're trying to make.
Basically, that made only Outkast fans come which included fighting. Sunday will bring a bunch of nicely dressed Billy Joel fans who have no idea what just went down the last 3 days. It's not a big deal, but big enough that I feel they shouldn't do day tickets.
Outkast fans are more prone to fighting? You're an idiot.
I keep thinking of all the Nashville suits that are going to be buying day passes to the farm for Billy Joel. It's sure to ruin Bonnaroo and the hetti vibes that are left on Sunday night.
EXACTLY! I went to both Counterpoints. The first was great. The second was too, but the second one had day passes. Mind you, this is Atlanta, an Outkast was doing their first show after Coachella. Let's just say, it's the only time I saw multiple fights at a festival.

Oh jesus just say it. Outkast drew a bunch of single day black folks who caused a ruckus and clashed with the hippie/edm crowd.

Yeah saw Styx two years ago...lets just say if they don't play I won't be crushed at all. 1karen1 is correct as well, they do not play Mr. Roboto (or Babe for that matter).
Trust me, you weren't missing anything. I saw their last tour with Dennis DeYoung and their first tour with the new guy. He tried to do "Babe" then if I remember correctly, and failed miserably (as he did with "Grand Illusion").
I thought they just waited until the Schedule was out or something for the day passes.
I don't remember if they waited for the schedule last year or not, but it was a little bit different because Elton (the person most day passers were going to pony up to see) self-announced he was playing Sunday on BLAM, so they had that out of the way. Can't remember if we knew Macca's night early or not (I mean we did, because insider, but I don't remember if he specified a day on his tour calendar).
I don't really get the day pass hate. Yeah, I like being able to say I did the weekend. Some people don't want to or can't handle 4 days of heat. For me, anything that keeps Bonnaroo financially solvent and able to book other bands I want to watch is fine by me. If a few hundred people from Nashville want to pony up $200 to see Billy Joel and they use some of that money to pay My Morning Jacket, Slayer, Tears for Fears, etc I still win.

I saw them in liiiike 2008. About 94% sure they played mr roboto. Also it was in Rockford, il and they started to play I want you to want me and they faked me out thinking Rick Nielsen or anyone else from cheap trick was going to join them.

Ok, now that we got that out of the way........
Can confirm. I saw OutKast twice. First time at Counterpoint, and the second time at their headlining show in Atlanta. There was a very big difference in crowds....the Atlanta show was filled with so many lawn blankets (that you dare not step on)....So not that OutKast fans from Atlanta are mean and violent....they just didn't understand the whole festival thing. So there was some clashing. I didn't see any physical fights though.
But you know maybe we can convince OutKast to get back together just one more time. It's kind of a shame that they'll never play the farm...

Yes. I have absolutely pointed and laughed at a day passer before.
I'm still trying to figure out if all the people bitching about day-passers are being ironic or genuinely making complaints about one of the stupidest things to bitch about. Can someone give me some insight?

Just think of day passers as a hilarious financial squeeze and stop being so elitist. Every time you look at those screens this summer, just remember, two years into day passes and we get the screens no one thought would ever come. It may not interest the younger millennial since you guys are all clearly too cool for school, but it would mean the world to me to get my folks out to roo for a day like Sunday - its an endurance test and the people who can't hang deserve to have a taste at a premium.
They've had day parking for over a decade for locals and ppl in the Manchester hotels, off site camping, etc. I used it in 04 when we moved our car so we wouldnt get stuck in the mud. Day passers are just the same thing essentially, except they pay a premium for tickets and have to ride the Nashville shuttle. I feel like there was a lot of backlash and this same sort of reaction when VIP, tent city, RLAR, etc started getting promoted. Those people aren't "hard enough" or as deserving because they can lay more for luxury.convenience, etc.

Roo is supposed to be an experiment in anarchy, man. How can you have that with a hierarchal structure with shit like VIP?
I'm so tired of people acting like Bonnaroo is some kind of heaven. Yeah, it's awesome but it isn't the utopia it's proclaimed to be. The counterculture and sticking it to the man is now sponsored by Miller Lite and AT&T.

For the record...I'm way too into myself to actually care about any of this.
But not staying on site for a camping festival....any camping festival....is still lame.

Just so we are clear, I do love Bonnaroo.
I think you need to google "anarchy" - maybe also give some thought into this new thing they are trying called capitalism. If you want four days of anarchy in the woods, I'd advise finding your nearest woods and giving it a shot - its called camping. Bonnaroo is a music and arts festival, an exercise in art, music, and community. community + "anarchy" = ?
You gave up on the concept of anarchy the moment you used paypal to gain admission.

I think the anarchy statement was sarcasm.
That's the scary and unfortunate part. The dudes post may very well be sarcastic in nature, but its honestly representative of a subculture at these things.
If it was meant to be sarcastic, kudos - you nailed it. If not, Kudos - you nailed it.

We need sarcastic font.
you know.
Sarcastic Font.
It was indeed extremely sarcastic.
I am used to SBC forums, where this denotes sarcasm.
I am clearly butt hurt by the vibez, and I appreciate you handling it so delicately. You are a gentle, 400 ft tall lizard king.

I feel like what's way lamer is complaining about people making their own choices based on reasons one has zero knowledge of.

Have y'all seen the who tour dates? They could be an add right?
They are a possible add given that 3 week gap before Europe, but I would think the who would claim a HL status given the current roster. Who's next live would be epic on the farm, despite the fact that the group has aged and changed so much over the years.
