I see last years thread about arriving at Roo. I was wondering what everyone's experience was with camp opening on Wednesday night and what the best time to arrive this year would be?
There is no best time. It varies. We normally go in towards the back where you tend to get stuck with farther camping but no real wait in traffic. It ended stopping and we had to turn around and head back the highway. It took about 2hrs at that point and we were camped about a 10-15min walk from centeroo. Expect 2-4hrs in traffic though. Sometimes more and I have only ever had less then that once.
We left Knoxville about 5 pm last year. Got in the highway line around 8. Pulled through gates about 1:30 am and we were set up by 3. Got parked an Apollo Creed which is super close. I'm going to attempt something similar this year, but everyone knows it's a shitshow as to where you are going to get.

I slid in wednesday about midnight.. midnight 30, and didn't even sit a full hour. No searching going on. It was awesome.

I think we went through the highway exit around 9 last year and got parked in Marty McFly. The year before we got in line around the same time and got parked in Pod 1. It's a crap shoot.

It's definitely a crap shoot. Arrive at the same gate at the same time two years in a row and get totally different results. Unless you have mobility issues, in which case they have access, nothing is really that bad of a walk. We got BFE in 09 and it was 15-20 minutes maybe. I liked it actually. Quiet at night and no traffic during the day. Enough time to drink a few beers on the way. And they have taxis too if you're feeling especially lazy. The worst part is the commitment on leaving centeroo during the day. You need to be prepared for the 30-40 minutes round trip travel time and what you want to spend in camp. Bring plenty of snacks and water, and be super sneaky with your stash. I do not believe you can plan which pod you are in. While you may get what you want one year, but try the same thing another year, and you're SOL. Don't worry about it is all I can say, wherever you are you will have a great time.
also spend a few minutes searching this site. There are answers to every possible question you have about bonnaroo here. And I do mean Every. Possible. Question. When to arrive? Check. Security check upon arriving? Check! Centeroo/campsite security? Check! Essential gear? Check! Shoes? Check! Feminine hygiene? Check. Access? Check! Cuisine ideas? Check. Theft by attendees? Check! Fines for those busted at entrance? Check! Light up costumes? Check. Charging your phone at bonnaroo? Check! I could go on and on (and have likely gone too far already)!
With all due respect, if you realize the need attach 2.0 to your thread, why even start one at all? Just go to the original one.
In 2014 arrived at 2:30am Thursday, got in line on the interstate, got in around 4. Got to my spot around 5. Ended up having a very good spot in the front part of Chewbacca. 10 minutes to get from camp through the arch.
In 2013 we arrived at 11am Thursday, was directed to the east tollbooths, no line, and ended up in BFE in pod 11. 25 minutes to get through the arch.
I would definitely try middle of the night again if I was in a car, but I might be doing RV this year.

2010 I arrived Thursday morning, and all the rain and mud made for an 8 hour tour of the surrounding countryside in line. Pod 10. Bad stuff.
2011-2013 Wednesday afternoon/early evening through the East tollbooth. 2011 and 2012 we were among the trees in Pod 2 - loved it. Got Pod 1 in 2013, which I did not like at all.
2014 Decided to try the West entrance. Got in line around 7 I think, waited a bit in the rain, and was set up in Pod 2 just as it was getting dark. I was happy except for having the neighbors from hell behind me.
So if I make it back this year I'll try to get there on Wednesday before dark and hope for Pod 2 or something closer. But as everyone says, you really never know where you'll be sent, so the best thing is to arrive whenever is convenient for you and be determined to have fun no matter what. Don't forget about Tent Only if you get stuck too far out for your tastes.
While everyone says it's a crap shoot I have somehow managed to be within the same 100 foot radius all three years I've been on the farm in Camp Jeff Spicoli. Usually go in early Thursday morning but not sure which entrance I've gone through as I've always just gone in the one I remember from the year before.
I will never forget 2012, and have absolutely no wait. We drove in around 12:30/1pm on Thursday. I thought I was in some alternate universe. It was wonderful. I believe we were camped in pod 10. So we had a decent walk to centeroo, but I didn't mind.

This might be the wrong spot, please let me know if so -- but I'm just reading this and seeing people saying 25 minutes through the arch or whatever.
Is there no line to get into Centeroo itself? I went to Firefly last year and it was my first festival, and after you walked from camp to the festival itself there was a line to get searched and get your wristband checked and everything and that was about 30 minutes itself.
1/30: Cold War Kids
2/6: Cherub
4/22: The Mountain Goats
5/25: Laura Jane Grace "Killing Me Loudly"
5/31: The Decemberists

Yes, there are two lines. The Arch entrance and the Ferris Wheel one. They usually have issues when Centeroo first opens on Thursday, but once they get it all smoothed out you usually don't have to wait more then 10 minutes during the day. After 10pm or so you can usually walk in and out of Centeroo pretty easy.
Edit: I forgot to add that you might run into random delays at the gate. Shift changes or they decide to beef up security searches on everyone for a bit. Just a show of force type thing. Overall it's really not so bad.

One entrance recommendation. Even if you are camped by the Ferris wheel entrance I recommend going through the arch at least once at night. I actually missed it my first year.

I'll keep that in mind, thanks.. Definitely don't want to miss it.
