Better late than never, here is the 2015-line up split up into groups of genres. Next to each act, I noted sub-genres, cross-genres or other interesting facts that could apply to the act. Listed along with the acts are listen links pointing to YouTube videos (mostly live performances). Also, as threads for each band populate, the names herein will link to their thread.
At the bottom of the page is the reply box/button. That is where you tell me how wrong I am about things.
And again, sorry for being late on it this year. I notice a similar thread went up on Reddit. I looked at it once but didn't copy it, so any similarities are coincidental. The sources I used were a mix of Wikipedia, last.fm tags and what.cd tags as well as listening to samples of each act--especially the fucking ones that are just labeled alternative rock and indie rock. Seriously, that shit was infuriating.
Once artist additions drop, I'll update the thread and color code additions from the initial line-up artists.

SZA (R&B/neo soul/PBR&B is the stupidest name of a genre I've ever heard)
I didn't know PRB&B was a thing until I created the similar lineup by genre thread on Reddit. Thought it was a joke. Great list! Yours narrows it down a bit more, which is awesome. I'm making it a point to go to all world music this year after enjoying Omar Souleyman so much last year. Tanya is definitely on my list.

Oxford comma-core. Hilarious!
Really bummed (once again) at the complete lack of neo-indie-Afro-polka-tronica. There's nothing like the sound of a synth-djembe and accordion playing experimental shoe-gaze covers. Nothing at all.

Man, you haven't lived until you've seen Inuit throat singing live. And yeah, PBR&B is both a joke and a real thing. Love the music, hate the nomenclature.

Awesome as always cory's beard! I'd like to offer a suggestion; Since the Band a Day thing is about to get underway in Feb. what about providing a link to the threads describing the bands? Youtube vids are great but the threads in that sub-forum will/should be chock full of info about the bands. I know it will make it more of a pain in the ass since you'd have to update the OP every day starting in Feb till......Bonnaroo probably but it would provide even more information to folks who are curious about an artist/act.

That's a pretty good idea. I might just do multiple side links like (listen/discussion/"band-a-day") for the YouTube link, regular thread and band-a-day.

A breakdown like this showcases an impressive variety of music. Loving the psychedelic section, R&B is lacking but that's a strong list, and folktronica? Wow had no idea Caribou fit that description, especially with that track "Swim", but hey not going to complain.
Side note: Tanya Tagaq's set won't be under attended, I'm sure every major publication is going to make sure people understand she's a must see. I watched a near 25 minute video on YouTube that showcased her acapella, and Inuit throat singing: it was fascinating. I'm hoping she plays Sunday in that early afternoon Goat type time slot.

I kinda wanna bring friends to Tanya's show that don't know her music and record their reactions, but that would require me having to listen to it, which will not be happening. Btw, what the fuck makes her a "must see" in your book? Is it simply that her music is different than the rest at Roo?
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
1/30: Cold War Kids
2/6: Cherub
4/22: The Mountain Goats
5/25: Laura Jane Grace "Killing Me Loudly"
5/31: The Decemberists
6/11-6/14: BONNAROO 2015
6/28: Against Me!
6/30: Against Me!
"Bands that give Ohio a bad name" is perfect, yes. I wholeheartedly approve of "schizophrenic pop" too. Maybe throw in "pitchy shout pop-rock" and "dramatized scene-ster indie rock."

Well I watched a 25 minute video of her in some ballroom, she broke down all the elements of her throat singing along with acapella. She made her throat sound rhythmic, and she could alternate octaves of low and high. She did opera, acapella, and throat singing all in the same 25 minutes. I love versatility, and personally I'm all about Tanya Tagaq. Unless it's a major conflict I'm not missing her set. If it's Bleachers vs Tagaq, I can't stand Bleachers but I'm all about TT. Seen 21 pilots twice, so if they play the same time: I'm at TT. And another example, if Gambino(seen him twice) plays vs TT, I'm not smoking the reefer: I would choose Tanya Tagaq.

I'm not sure those examples even count because I'd rather drink more than see any of those shows, haha

I used those as examples, because I know a decent amount will be going to each of those shows. I mean not crazy, if she goes up against any LN act on Friday or Sat there's no way I'm seeing her. Thurs LN I would skip her if it were Gramatik, Slyvan Esso, or Glass Animals. I think she will either get an early Sun slot, or a 10:00 slot like Omar Souleyman on thurs.

Holy heck this is awesome. I was just thinking of doing something like this the other day - glad I stumbled on this- thanks for your hard work in updating it. Band a day links are gonna be ballin,
Can't wait to get home from work and listen in to everything I'm not familiar with. I'm pretty pumped with the amount of folky bluegrass going to the farm this year!
