Yea, this will be really great. If any of the Mumford & Sons guys can stick around I could see them popping up as a surprise. Maybe they will learn a thing or two, as well.

I love the fact that they are bringing this back. I was there for the first year they tried this stage in 2013, and had a blast. Anyone sold on this stage/superjam concept should really check out Merlefest this year... Late April in NC. BGS is hosting their midnight jam this year... Many similar names on the bill, many more that Bonnaroo just doesn't have (gotta love a bluegrass themed fest!). Also- they got Avett Bros.
Last year was great, but this lineup looks much better. Excited to see sturgill simpson involved. hopefully i can camp here all day without missing conflicts. the david byrne/st. vincent conflict in 2013 was the worst of the weekend for me.
I camped out on the rail for a few shows with billypilgrim and taco, but then we left for Carolina Chocolate Drops at the Sonic. Then got hungry.. and somehow went back to camp for a minute and missed the superjam last year. Like you, krissyjo. NOT AGAIN. Were we dumb and at camp together for this? Bad decision making skills.
Is that that order too? Shakey will definitely get me up and moving early on Sunday!
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I was on the rail all day last year. I'll probably try to be there for Shakey, HftRR, and Sturgill. Might leave and come back for the superjam depending on conflicts
this superjam vs Robert Plant makes me sad. I'm definitely not going to miss this though. This is the best lineup they've had for this tent. Last year we showed up for the show right before the Superjam and had no problem walking right up to the rail. I have a feeling it'll be more difficult to do that this time around.
Spent the entire day at this stage last year, depending on conflicts I might do the same thing. Looks to be a lot more bluegrass than last year's was.
So did I. I was parked right outside the edge of the tent the entire day. Lake Street and The Lone Bellow were great. I've seen the Black Lilies a million times because they are local, but it was incredible to see them at Roo. I'm wondering if we will get something similar with Houndmouth, Trampled, and Punch Bros this year.

I was right up on the rail all day. Met the Lone Bellow after a show a month later and they recognized me. Made my day.
The lineup for the tent is already out. It's right up at the top of the thread. But I'll put it here too.

Oh cool thanks for the ads up, I must have glanced right over it. I still have hope that Pokey Lafarge will have something to do with the Bluegrass SJ.

I'd think he would. Other hopes: Trampled By Turtles, Brandi Carlile, and Gregory Alan Isakov. What would really be amazing would be Robert Plant coming out. He presumably will have the same spot as Avetts did so it's a possibility.
That would be incredible. I was really surprised by the Avetts coming out last year. It something that totally makes sense, but I just didn't think they would. If Robert Plant comes out, I'm gonna flip my shit. I would like for him to do a Zep song if he did, although I know it's a long shot. Immigrant Song would sound killer.
Perhaps the greatest living banjo, mandolin, and resonator/lap steel players in the world
Sold
yeah, i can't think of any 3 better. sam bush (maybe), but thats just because he bleeds bluegrass. Most potential awesomeness of any of these Ed Helms shows. My only fear is i'll start throwing a tantrum every time ed helms is holding a banjo and bela fleck is not

Why am I just now seeing the details on this? This is great. I'll definitely be right up there for at least the first three acts. HFTRR and Sturgill Simpson are two of the acts I'm most excited to see this year.

Awesome, awesome, AWESOME set! Just wish the sound would have been a bit better... they seriously needed to up the sound on a few of those instruments.
Got my hands on the set list, thought you all might want to see it:
I walked by this after Caribou ended and they were launching into "Just What I Needed." Needless to say, I missed the first 40 minutes of Billy Joel because I grabbed a beer and pretty much ran straight into the tent and didn't leave until the end. What I saw and heard was incredible. I loved how Shakey Graves introduced "Little Red Corvette" as an old bluegrass standard. The Sloop John into Up on Cripple Creek into Down In the Valley also were great. It ended up being one continuous highlight.

I really hope someone got a recording of this. So special. Great show. One of my favorites every year, even though I'm so tired and sore by this point.
