Also: Sadly, this thread is running about as well as I thought it would when I saw her name on the line-up.
Please understand that if I made a thread devoted solely to trashing one of the truly shitty artists on the lineup, like 21 Pilots or AWOLnation or Alabama Shakes or whoever, it would cause a riot. But this is totally acceptable for some reason.
I don't think i would remain interested for an entire set, but i'm a little intrigued by it. Depending on what else is going on, i may wander over for a small helping.
This is what I was thinking too. I did give the video a chance without watch her, and it was better. I'm not sure that the style of music is really me, but I'm willing to give it a look-see.
Her music is really intriguing, but this seal thing looks really bad. Before I go protesting her set for supporting the clubbing of baby seals, please tell me I'm missing something. Boner Any insight?
Honestly. Seal hunting is a way of life for these people. I mean, i am against the killing of baby seals. As is Tanya i'm sure. Its illegal to hunt white coated baby seals. Its illegal to "club" seals. do people break the law? yes *i messed up here, its actually not illegal to use a club, just read the article in the link,. Are honest people trying to make a living by hunting seals monsters? absolutely not. I realize people south of the boarder are getting the 30 second shock news headlines with very little facts and all that, so im not suprised by any misinformation on the topic, and im certainly not the most knowledgable either.
All i know is Tanya is defending her peoples way of life and traditions, those of which dont involve clubbing baby seals.
Oh yeah, FUCK PETA
Everything I learned about seal hunting, I learned from Morrissey. My info may be a little skewed.

Have you not SEEN how high the guys from Twenty One Pilots jump when they leap off the drumset?

Eh, I personally don't think Twenty One Pilots is that bad. They're great performers and their fans love em. If you like emo piano type shit, they're great. That and they're fun as hell to photograph cause that one dude always climbs the highest thing possible at any festival he plays.
For the record - I know it seemed like it, but I didn't make this thread just for bashing sake. It was a new artist I'd never heard of before and I had an honest "WTF" moment when I saw that video. What I love about this place is that by me posting what I found, yes it got some bashing, but it also opened up more things I may not have found on my own to give me a better rounded view of the artist and her music. It's a little disconcerting to stumble upon an artist like this with no prior knowledge of them. If I view it more as performance art and less as a concert, I can see the appeal.

krissyjo I never thought you started this thread to bash her. I think it was just like you said; you had no idea who this was and were doing some research when you stumbled across that video. So, appropriately in my mind, you presented to Inforoo your discovery. Most (probably all but who knows) people who responded did so with an honest "WTF is THIS Sh..?!?" What I love about this thread and why I think it should remain the non-official Tanya Tagaq thread on inforoo is because it's progressed from "BURN HER!!!" to "Eh, I might check it out for a bit if nothing else is happening." Also your reference to sex sounds has inspired me to create a "Mood Music For Masturbating" Spotify Mix that will open with this song & just get better from there.
She was actually very good and got a great ovation after her set. It was all improvised and very impressive. She really embraced the moment. I had a lot of fun at her set and so did many people around me.
