Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Hey everyone! This year is going to be my first Bonnaroo, or roo as I understand it. Even though this will be my first year there, it is far from my first rodeo. I have been to a lot of other festivals but never had the chance to make it down to the farm. I was hoping some of you great people would have some insight into a few things. First, I am going to be camping in an rv at Koa. Has anyone stayed there? And how was it? I am pretty sure I will get the "you won't get the full experience of roo being there" kind of responses... But I will be turning 34 the day before we get there and am a little over regular camping. Not the partying part, more liking to be able to sleep once I hit my wall. Second, I will have an artist pass. Has anyone else had one? Where exactly will that get me as far as access and perks? From what I understand it's pretty spectacular access... Anyway, I don't want to start rambling on, so any info will be greatly appreciated and I can't wait for June!

If you have an artist pass, why would you camp at the KOA when you can camp in artists camping under shaded trees on-site?
Camping at KOA was not my decision, going with friends that have camped there a few years and tend to like it... Apparently because it is a full hookup and and a few of them hate camping in rv parking with generators running...
Which is astonishing to me given that when the same group was younger, the idea of even showering at a festival was unheard of... I think a few of them have grown soft as they have gotten older...

I was wondering the same thing as Phyre Fest why in the hell would you do that but it makes sense now. There are threads that answer just about every question you had but I'm apparently just as lazy as you so I'm not going to look for them either (I keed I keed). There is a KOA specific thread and the folks in that thread seem to really like it exactly because it's a more chilled open area and the amenities (Power hookups being a big one). I think they run a regular shuttle between the KOA and Bonnaroo last I heard. Also it aint cheap! I think it's more expensive than VIP. I'm sure some of the folks who've actually stayed at KOA recently will chime in with personal experiences. And Welcome to the board!
Thanks monkybunny, I do have to admit that I am slightly lazy with regards to looking for older threads... But part of it is that they r older threads and many that I found were from several years ago and we all know how much things change from year to year with fests. Also was just saying hi being new to the board and all. You are right, KOA is a little pricey, but my ticket is free(just happen to be friends with someone that is really close with the right person that puts a lot of the whole thing together) so getting a spot there equals out to pretty much a VIP ticket. Really looking forward to the fest season this year! Doing the roo for the first year and my 3rd jazz fest!!

Hi!
I've camped in GA seven times but for the last two years we've been at the KOA. Pricy? Definitely. But how do you put a price tag on shade in the morning? A hot shower at 3AM? A dip in the pool before breakfast? Limo service to the Coffee Cafe on Sunday morning? Guaranteed space for friends arriving from all over the country? Wednesday setup? etc. No, you don't get any special perks or privileges once you're inside the Arch (actually, you don't get to go through the Arch - the entrance is in the back with no line), but the two in our party who have done both VIP and KOA say that they prefer the KOA.

Honestly, I haven't really taken full advantage of the KOA. Although I'd love to play mini-golf and hang out at the pool all day, there's a, you know, festival next door. I'm guessing that it is pretty quiet during the day. If the afternoon temps get above 95 as they did in 2007, I'm guessing that the pool will become a destination.
The pool was something that caught my eye. Run back quick in a lul between bands I want to see to cool off if it is wicked hot. Easy access to showers, not waiting in line to get into the festival, and quiet when I finally want to get some sleep and shade in the morning were big draws for me as well...

95 degrees in 2007? You must be talkin' 'bout 4AM. 'Cause it seriously felt over 100 all four days of my virgin trip to The Farm. So miserably wonderful!
I'm picturing a pool full of Bonnaroovians. In my mind's eye, it seems they are swimming in coffee.
At my age, if I left the farm for a shower, a dip in the pool, or even mini-golf, it would be hard to move back towards the heat. I need the force of inertia to keep my bones moving for 4 days.
