Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
They play a lot of genres late night. If you want specifics just look for previous years schedules.
Thanks! I was able to find previous years' schedules at the beginning of January on the Bonnaroo website, but I can't find them since they updated the theme. Is it only me, or are they gone now?
If you go to the 2015 lineup, there is an option above the headliners to choose the year!
So far I've gathered that the Amish Donuts (and possibly pretzels) are a must, can't miss My Morning Jacket or the late nights, show up to Brunch (already RSVP'd; get ready for delicious Ohio craft beer), and a general exploration of Centeroo.
That can't possibly cover it all, can it?
Just cover your roo check list, any party supplies, an open mind and your good. The universe and random people you meat will take you on the journey that is bonnaroo
Last year about five minutes after Disclosure ended my friends and I were walking to go grab some water when I spotted a traveling band. It was one of the bands that had played earlier that day, I can't for the life of me ever remember which band, though. My friends were trying to push me to just keep moving and get water before we went to go see Chance, but I insisted that we stop and listen and dance around for a minute because where else in the world can you dance your fucking face off to some sweet dance tunes and then in between that and going to get excited over one of the most generous and appreciative hip-hop shows I've ever seen, listen to a sort-of jazzy, sort-of country traveling band? Fucking Bonnaroo, my friend.

I can see the past lineups, but not the actual schedules like I did before (what day/stage/time).

A few things I don't think get mentioned enough:
-Trapped In The Closet Sing-Along: I think it's usually so late at night that there are little to no conflicts. It was one of the most fun parts of the weekend.
-Silent Disco: goes on pretty much non stop all weekend, so it's easy to go in there at least once.
-Lounge Stages: or whatever they're called. Go see at least one show at the really small stages. They the crowds are small and a lot of the bands are great.

The showers! However you do it. You will feel better and more energized to go about your day.
Late nights! Rest up when you can. I find its best to focus on my must see sets and rest when i can so I can go all night. When I run from stage to stage, tent to tent all day I am spent by the end of the headliner. The late night sets really set bonnaroo apart from the field as far as major festivals in the states go. Don't miss them.
Hydration! Early and often! This goes hand in hand with rest. Stay hydrated and stay energized. I drank 1/2 gallon before leaving camp. I brought a 5 gallon jug from home and filled it up at the hydration stations by camp. the water was clean and I filled up multiple water bottles to take in with me every day.
Moderation! Pace your self, it's a marathon not a sprint. People pass out and miss must see sets every year.
the bluegrass tent Sunday! By Sunday I am spent and just want to chill in one spot all day till the hesdliner. The bluegrass tent is super cozy and Super chill.
Thursday if at all possible. It's included in the price. Show up early and catch some shows before the fest really starts.
The campgrounds. Spend some time wandering around the camp grounds. There is always cool stuff going down in every corner.
Inforoo brunch. Meet up with some cool people from here share regional beverages and food.
Sunscreen. You will likely burn without it. Nothing will ruin your bonnaroo like a horrendous sunburn.
Make sure to get to know your neighbors. Make sure you show up early enough to get to enjoy Thursday's music. Amish donuts, this will be my third year and I, too, haven't had an Amish Donut but I hope to change that this year. For the love of god, do not miss the latenights, you know your limits, if you're feeling kinda tired early on, take a rest in a shaded spot and maybe a nap and you should be chugging water the entire time at Roo. Do not forget sunscreen, you will be miserable after all weekend if you aren't careful.
Alright, but the fun stuff... Don't miss My Morning Jacket, ride the Ferris wheel in Centeroo, get your groove on at the silent disco, also get your groove on the barn (even if only for a minute), if there's a comedian you realyyyy like don't miss it but know that getting a comedy ticket a VERY long time if it's a popular comedian, my friends love the big slide so I'm sure you'd have fun as well, if there's a really crazy that you like that gets a slot in the early afternoon-don't miss it because the strange setting makes it all the better (death grips 2013), cinema tent is real fun if there is a movie playing that you really like because most people will know the lines, spicy pie is supposed to be dope but I've never had it, be sure to catch a show or two at one of the smaller stages: miller light lounge, café where, solar stage, etc. (google search past years and you'll be blown away at how far some of the acts come since their first shows at roo on the small stages) I'll add some more later but I just want to discuss something previously mentioned by some other members...
Many people are saying don't stay at camp all day. I kind of agree with that but if you go with a group of people, it's great to sit around the campsite in the shade and with your friends and have some beers and talk about shows you've seen and stuff. It's like a cross of the stereotypical scenes from tv shows and films where all the members of a family are getting ready to go off to school or work for the day and the scene where they are all sitting around the dinner table talking about how their day went. I love sitting at camp with my friends because of that. To make sure I stay rested I either get up and going early for an early show or two that I want to see and then come back to camp afterward for rest or I stick around camp until 3-5 and then head in to Centeroo but still try to stay in fairly shaded areas.

For the first year I think you just need to take it all in and go with the flow. There are so many different "right ways to 'Roo", but you have to figure out what yours is for yourself. I guess the biggest suggestion I would have is to try to get inside Centeroo as early as possible Thursday and wander around before the music starts, the biggest issue you will have year one is figuring out how to get from point A to point B.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, and it's a bit cliche, but I'd say my #1 thing not to miss is the people. If you're in tent only or if you're camping by your car, meet those neighbors. The people that you meet this weekend will make it all that much better. What's better than sharing these awesome experiences with new friends?

I echo many of these things, including water, neighborliness, and never missing MMJ.
Another great first-Roo activity thy I made sure to make my husband and both our siblings and their friends over the years is going into Centeroo through The Arch as close to noon on Thursday as you can. The crowd is the nicest you'll ever meet, your hand will hurt from the high fives, and those first steps onto the Centeroo lawn are some of the most memorable you'll ever take.
I also wanted to add that the Broo'ers Tent in Centeroo is a great shady spot to chill out during the day - whether you're drinking or not. They didn't have Sweetwater Blue last year (maybe they will this year since I was nearly in tears when they told me), but that was a great low-alcohol beer.
Many people on these boards say don't drink at all during the day, though. Last year was my 4th year and I held back during the day for the first time and was able to make it to every late night. It was a blast, but I have had other years that I enjoyed even more and missed most of the late night because bands I wanted to see were in more daytime slots.
Lastly, I think you mentioned wanting to treat this like your first and last Roo. I think that's a great strategy and attitude to help you make the most of the experience. Just be sure to listen to your body and not be too hard on yourself if you miss something minor on your list in order to get to some of your favorites later on. My first year was very hot and we were camped very far and I am very terrible with directions and saw fewer shows, but I wouldn't trade that weekend of my life for anything. This will be your first Roo, but I'd bet my EZ-up it won't be your last.

Oh looks like it was a different new-comer in a different thread who said the "first and last Roo" stuff, but I like her style.
Also, meant to say that heading to the Broo'ers Tent early on in the weekend and being decent to the vendors sometimes results in a little swag. Like extra bandanas or koozies, etc. if that interests you.
I'm already putting together my Bonnaroo bucket list in case this is the only time we get to go. Good info here! So, what kind of music is usually played at the late night sets? Is it more EDM? I'm not as into that genre so I'm wondering if late night is something we will check out once, and just head back to sleep after midnight. I'm old :/
It's not all EDM, and you definitely can't miss nighttime in centeroo. Wander around. Stop at a random tent playing music you'd never listen to regularly. The people watching is ridiculous. It's a completely different world from day time bonnaroo. I also recommend a headlamp or at least a flashlight because trying to pee in a dark porto is terrifying and some of the ways back to camp aren't lit up very well.
Moderation! Pace your self, it's a marathon not a sprint. People pass out and miss must see sets every year.
Although that advice is not so much "Things to Not Miss" as it is "How Not to Miss Things" it's still very very true!! I take far better care of myself during my 5 nights at Roo that I do the other 360 nights of the year.

There is nothing more unfortunate than that naked guy who's soiled himself and is being restrained & handcuffed in the Witch ditch on Thursday afternoon....every year.
monkybunney is right! If you can make it to The Farm Wednesday night it is so much fun! There's no music and the main grounds aren't open, so it's a great time to meet the neighbors and wander the camps!
Yes Wednesday is when I've met some of the coolest people. I also do some of my best drinking Wednesday. And it's pretty much the only time the port o potties will be clean. So enjoy that while you can. Walk around, see the the writings on the walls (literally), high five everyone you see, dance around, be free. You will quickly realize why the farm for those 4 days are the happiest place in the world.

Don't miss the shows you want to see because someone in your group wants to see something else. It's perfectly safe to split up and meet up later at a certain time, as long as you both are on the same page you'll find each other easily.
For example. After MMJ meet me by the flaming pig near brooers tent.

THIS!
I can't tell you how many shows I missed my first roo bc I decided to "stick with the group." i regret this for many reasons. Especially looking back at the schedule and seeing what could've been.

100% agreed. You'll be kicking yourself the rest of the year and pissed at the people who made you miss it. Just tell your group a week before Roo your top 5 or whatever and that your not missing those shows for any reason.

Just a side note, it can be hard to sit in the campsite till late afternoon. I always have someone I want to see before then. I also can't sleep once the sun is up. So resting can be kinda hard. I think you have to weigh your options. Who so you want to see most? Honestly, I usually try to do some late night stuff and if I get too tired, I take a nap in centeroo and have my bf wake me up when he's ready to go back to camp. You do have to get over the whole "I'm sleeping on the ground in the middle of a festival" thing. But I have no shame. When you're tired, you're tired.

On that note--this is the correct way to give directions. You have to be super specific. My group usually uses the middle of the Brooers tent, the ferris wheel ticket booth, the picnic tables at food truck oasis, etc. You can't just say, "Meet me at the trees by the Which stage," because you'll never find your group.
And, you know, don't feel bad about breaking off from the group when you want to go do something else. Just be very specific about how and when you will meet back up if you want to see them the rest of the day.
