Levitation Fun Fun Fun Fest ACL SXSW Austin Reggae Fest Euphoria
You know I would agree with you on Fun Fun Fun Fest, but after last year fiasco with the 7 hour wait at the will call line and the "sorry not sorry" statement released by FFF they have definitely gone down on my list. I will not be attending this year.

When I walked back to the car to drop off my Pallbearer vinyl, I saw that line. It was absolutely crazy, almost all the way across the river! I bought my ticket off of Craigslist, so I didn't wait in the will call line.
Did they not ship ANY tickets out last year? I just found it strange that so many people had to pick up a ticket. I know you can pick up the ticket a few days prior, but they really need to offer shipping if they didn't this past year.

Oh no they did have that option to be shipped. In fact that's what I did. It never came. When I got there it was across the river and around the corner. I missed out on Yelle, DFA 1979, Judas Priest and RTJ.
To top it off, they indirectly blamed it on us and got no refund.

Never again dude.
Ya, that's pretty fucked. I was shocked to see so many people at the will call line. I wonder why they didn't ship them out?
I know that at some point during Priest, they just opened up the gates and let everyone in, due to the fuck up.

Yeah I left after waiting 3 hours, by the time they let everybody in I was eating fried chicken over at Lucy's. That was some good chicken.

I saw that all go down, because the weekend before, Voodoo had entrance issues the first day as well, but not to that extreme (2 hour waits from what I heard, we got there at noon in LOA and waited 45 mins to get it). It was kinda like, you thought Voodoo was bad, look at FFF. Then on top of it, FFF eventually stopped checking and just let everyone in the UPS VIP afterhours. People who paid premium ended up not getting in or had horrible viewing. It was the worst thing they could have done on top of the line issues.
When I saw their "apology" I was in shock! ACL has a no refund policy too, but when it flooded the third day out in 2013, they refunded everyone $75. Ridiculous that FFF would basically blame the crowd, and then do that piss-poor apology. I think my favorite part was, they had an image of the will-call/entrance lines with the issues fixed and captioned, come on by now, we fixed the issue and there are no lines, like a bigger fuck you was needed.

I was reading an article/interview with Destructo, the organizer for Hard Festival, and in the interview he mentioned how bad he felt for the people who waited during Hard Day of the Dead and he issued an apology. The fans waited 45 minutes for a festival that's in the ballpark of 100k in attendance. So I decided to post the article on the FFF facebook with a comment like, "And they sold out their festival. What's your excuse?"
I know very petty and immature on my behalf but part of me was and still is genuinely pissed off at how they handled the PR side of this issue.

I agree it was totally fucked. I go to Austin all the time and if I had to travel and had that experience, damn straight I would be pitching a fit. Besides they were assholes with how they handled it. Voodoo was opening lines and trying to get everyone in when they were having the 2 hour wait. Granted the lines only got super fucked up at night when the rush for the headliners happened, but still. These fests have been in business for over 10 years, to have this happen is unacceptable!

My Favorite ATX fest rankings
SxSW. Even though the short set up and set times can be a hindrance to some bands, I see more shows by more bands and make more discoveries during this week than I could anywhere else and most of the live performances in these clubs, hotel lounges, parks, restaurants, shops, stores, or churches are more intimate than they normally would be.

Outside Art in Rockdale looks cool and I've heard great things about the Kerrville Folk Festival.
