alert! alert! opened my app this morning and there's a new u talkin ep!
only about 20 minutes into the episode but this is like getting a big hug from a dear friend you haven't seen in ages. great ep of I Love Films, was listening getting ready in the morning and had to slump down in a chair and just laugh for a few minutes when they started talking about ice cold popcorn.

I'm way behind on U talkin U2 2 Me. Like, I know I got through the U2 shows (I think?) but haven't really dug into the other bands they've done. I should get back to it because I didn't even really like/know U2 anyway when listening to that. The back and forth with Adam and Scott was the real draw. I'm sure I have a lot of episodes to catch up on
cbbworld.com is blocked by the Doha airport's Wi-Fi. First website I've come across that is. Was thinking of subbing to Scott Hasn't Seen to listen to during the long flight, but no dice!

This episode will surely help me through a tough, emotionial time I'll be dealing with over the next few weeks. But this will start. The Threedom Boys on CBB (been a while for Lapkus) and Mary Holland is also there. So this is Fourdom!
Fourdom COMEDY BANG BANG #767 JULY 24, 2022
Fellow Threedom co-hosts Paul F. Tompkins and Lauren Lapkus join Scott to talk about simping, The Weeknd, and musical instruments. Then, local reporter Haney Dilf stops by to talk about her recent car accident. Later, Carmine DeLonge arrives to show off his special skill. Plus, fencing instructor Jarles whose trapped in the Earwolf Studios stops by for another #classicjarles appearance!

David Theune has been killing it on each appearance of Comedy Bang Bang he's on lately. So damn funny. His character was good and quick but the laughing/crying sounds in this episode were so stupidly funny.
Excited to see what guests Blank Check get on for their Kubrick series. I hope that Michael Mann and Robert Eggers are in play given their recent appearances on WTF. Just hope they're open to the idea of being pod guests in general. Would absolutely love to hear Eggers talk about the Shining or Eyes Wide Shut or any Kubrick really.
leaving this morning for a little cedar point trip that we planned to end with how did this get made in cleveland. woke up to see that jason mantzoukas, who has been locked in his house for the entire pandemic, tested positive for covid and the show is postponed. hope jason is alright, and glad we have cbb next week.

responding to an old post but the funny thing about these pods is that i did genuinely learn a ton about U2 and REM listening to them. of course the draw of the podcast is the humor and the running gags, but the way they root the bands' histories in Scott & Scott's (and various guests') own personal histories with the bands' music really helps solidify and deepen my understanding of what each individual album is trying to accomplish, and where the band was coming from when they wrote and recorded it.
I have actually listened to U2's entire catalog now. The pod did not make me a U2 fan, but I used to actively dislike them and now I at least appreciate them and don't turn them off if they come on the radio.
I always liked REM fine but the pod made me like their music more, and highlighted songs and albums I hadn't really focused on previously.
in general i've never totally locked into the whole CBB family of podcasts, even though I love all the personalities involved. the "u talkin" series is easier for me, i think the focus on one band per season gives me an anchor i can hold on to.

Going to CBB in NY tonight. Leaving soon because I got the pre-show Q&A package which I forgot about. Probably won't try to ask a question since I can't think of any but still should be interesting.

Opening was just q&a with Paul and Scott. I embarrassed myself because I shouted out "Ron" when they mentioned Paul on bob's burgers, But I was thinking of Randy who PFT plays also. So when even they came back to me for a question they specifically knew and asked me my question as "Ron" lol. I did say after they corrected me earlier that "I'm an idiot" but then I asked a question about Brett as an on-mic character and they gave a great, quick answer (time was winding down
Are Patreon subscription fees prorated? It seems like they aren't. So if you join toward the end of the month, you pay the full monthly price for only a few days worth of access. Seems like it might be worth it to wait until the beginning of the next month if you're planning to sub to a show. I understand why it works that way, because if it were prorated you could sub at the end of the month for a fraction of the price and download the full back catalog for pennies. Just something to consider if you can afford to wait a few days to start accessing whatever content, especially if it's a higher-level/more expensive tier.
went to cleveland for cbb last night and it was so much fun. pft as al a. peterson, jess mckenna as margery kershaw and will hines as morpheus. first time seeing them live after probably 10 years of listening, it was really great to see the physicality of everything.
