I'm only like 25 minutes into the Dickie Donnelly episode with Lisa Gilroy and Lily Sullivan and goddamn it's so funny. It's giving me the perfect combo vibes of Teacher's Lounge mixed with Hollywood Handbook because they're playing characters that are insane but they also are really cracking each other up and also pushing the other to accept and take on some hilarious improvs. When Lisa Gilroy was having Lily be the speaker and tell about her trauma and all the shit they got into about how Lily was mistaken for a football was just hilarious.

i ordered one, thought some people here might be interested. and if you haven't listened to Analyze Phish i question if you are a true phan.
somehow the funniest part of that was "they've done a lot of different stuff." this woman has no idea that todd padre pushed an elderly woman back into 9/11.
i'm a few episodes into Springing Springsteen On My Bean and really enjoying it. i'll admit i petered out on the Talking Heads one, which is weird because I love Talking Heads. i almost think the podcast works better for me when it's an artist i'm not super familiar with.
I originally skipped U2 because I didn't like U2, but then when they did R.E.M. i listened because I liked R.E.M., but didn't have a ton of knowledge about them, basically I just liked Monster and Up from high school. So in addition to all the humor and just hanging with Scott and Scott which is fun, I also genuinely learned a lot about R.E.M. and developed an appreciation for all the albums I hadn't heard. Then I went back to U2 and listened to that, and they actually made a mild U2 fan out of me.
So Springsteen is a great choice for me. I know the hits of course, and have always wanted to know more about him.
I think part of my issue with Bruce is whenever I hear him singing, it always sounds like somebody making fun of him singing lol. Like I hear Adam Sandler doing his Bruce Springsteen impression in my head and it's hard to take it seriously. But as a result of the podcast I've already genuinely connected with one song (Badlands).
It also feels like Aukerman has gotten more patient as he's gotten older. With these episodes they sometimes really let a song play for a while and sit with it.

I could be wrong but that may be more of a case of him no longer being at Earwolf/working for them/having a stake in it.
They found out pretty early on various podcasts that they were getting episodes blocked/pulled for copyright shit if they were playing songs for longer than like 30 seconds or so and so a lot of shows where they play music (and even when they'd play some stuff on CBB) they would comment about how they have to talk over it and stuff and can't just let it play outright. Now they're on an independent thing (I think?) they probably have more freedom.
I just remember a lot of comments about what they can and can't play on CBB, Hollywood Handbook, and more shows on Earwolf because of playing audio of movies or songs without any commentary or other noise over it (and for longer than a certain length).
Either way, I do think the show is a bit more structured/straightforward and less insanely goofy than the original days so maybe Scott just matured a bit more or something? Either way I'm enjoying Springsteen on my Bean
my pocket casts year in review says i've listened to 75 days and 14 hours of podcasts this year. makes sense that my spotify wrapped barely logged any time...
putting this here because i mostly know them from podcasts. surprised to tune in to tonight's hallmark movie and see that it's hanukkah groundhog day starring vic michaelis!

Cbb holiday spectacular today. Haven't listened yet but I did see we're getting two amazing pairs - randy snutz and Carissa. And also the pig shit twins. Lol can't wait
so i'm not as up on CBB as the rest of y'all but a couple weeks back i saw jon hamm pop up so i gave that episode a listen. the drew tarver music festival expert bit was completely out of control and hilarious. the actual material was very funny but it was drew asking for parrot bay rum neat that really destroyed me for some reason.

Hamm is always a great guest because he's one of those guys that totally gets the show and is game to play along. Sometimes the guests are good in their segment but don't get as involved in the "characters" segments but Hamm is always good for an episode.
so just for the hell of it i decided to try to use spotify as my primary podcast app. i tried it as a podcast app when they first started having podcasts and hated it, figured i'd see if it's improved. but unfortunately there is one bug that is killing it for me: when i'm casting to my receiver and listening at home, it will randomly stop playing an episode and just skip to the next episode of a random podcast. and this will, no shit, happen 4-5 times in a one hour episode.
i googled to see if there was a fix, and found a post on reddit from FOUR YEARS AGO complaining about the same thing. apparently it's a long standing bug that happens randomly for different people. it doesn't happen in my car, or with headphones, or in the car for me, it's only when listening at home. but i like listening at home on my speakers!
