So I had heard about this a while back but there was zero promotion and the whole thing seemed kind of confusing. Some salute to the troops, coupled with promoting the new airplane manufacturing zone that Mobile is building, along with live music and.........an MMA fight?
Well, a lineup came out and it looks pretty damn sweet, and they say there is going to be a bunch more bands added. Two day passes are only $45 which is badass. I'm gonna go but I don't know what to expect. I feel like this will be a couple hundred people raging all the cool bands while there are tons of non-ragers staring at them or something. I dunno! Should be fun. If you want a two day pass w/ MMA fight it's $70. You can get to this place via a 5 minute car ride from downtown Mobile.

Mobile AeroFest today also joined with Titan FC in announcing 14 MMA bouts, including 4 Title bouts, (4th bout announced at later date) to take place at the Mobile Aeroplex. The fights will be nationally televised on CBS SPORTS to 93 million homes and will be the first nationally televised MMA event in Alabama since the formation of the Alabama Athletic Commission. The event will also be unprecedented by presenting four sanctioned MMA title fights on the same card.
The championship fight card includes:
Heavyweights: John Madsen (8-1) vs. Chase Gormley (11-4)
Featherweights: Desmond Green (14-3) vs. Kurt Holobaugh (13-2)
Bantamweights: Walel Watson (13-7) vs. Brett Johns (10-0)
"Mobile AeroFest is a very special event that will be bringing the Gulf Coast Community together for our nation’s veterans— as such we wanted to put forth our most compelling fight card Titan to date,” said Titan FC COO, Lex McMahon. "The Gulf Coast is MMA Country—and we are confident that the AeroFest Title Fights will have a full house.”

I'd be there if I lived within in a 50 mile radius. Not for Lt. Dan of course. I could look past some of the garbage on the lineup for that ticket price.
BUKU - AeroFest - Hogs for the Cause makes for a busy March but I may have to skip this on principle because Big & Rich and MMA. The with or without MMA ticket price is cracking me up. esteban may hit this up, as I have it on good authority he was a pretty big fan of this song, yet missed it on the '08 tour stops.
I'm 100% in, I'll def do a full report. This is so goofy, I think it'll turn out awesome. Gonna be hard not to crack up watching Lt. Dan Band.
Haven't seen my boys Zoogma play in years it seems, way overdue.
Jabco- I may also hit up Hogs for the Cause. I skipped it two years ago bc The Deftones played Mobile and they were on my bucketlist. Last year something else came up.
Man, the food at Hogs is ridiculous. The only thing is, especially on Saturday, a lot of the teams run out of food. You'll want to sample a lot of what's around the grounds, but find me at Fleur de Que's tent and I can hook up some drinks and food for sure.
As for AeroFest, I might have to be there just to watch the Lt. Dan Band slay that Lee Greenwood cover.
Lmfao. While I would love to see Zoogma and Robert Randolph, I'm thinking this will be an outing with substantial audience fighting. I think they should have the mma fights first and then let the knuckle dragging crowd loose on the music fans.

I was plannin' on going fairly early, as the band I want to see most on Sat (Toubab Krewe) is playing fairly early. I'm stayin' with a nola chick the night before and were gonna hit up Abita Springs in the morning to go to the city yard sale thing she mentioned then head over to City Park. Seems like a pretty fun day.

lol I feel ya. My opinion is that this event is going to lose it's ass due to poor promotion and general goofiness, except amongst hetti folks so this could end up being a private party with a ton of cool bands. Who knows?

So apparently there was a press conferene the other day "this festival is still happening!" with the Mayor hyping it tryin to get people to buy tickets. Sounds like this is going to be minimally atteneded (no way!) and will be a ragefest for the people that are there at the cool bands.

Also, it appears that the Mobile Airport Authority is the main funder of this, so if they lose a bunch of money, I ain't gonna feel bad for those assholes because our airport is ridicuously expensive to fly out of compared to other airports in the region.
