Bio: I keep coming back to Ryn Weaver. Of all the names that get me excited for Bonnaroo, it's hers. I honestly had no clue who Ryn was before June of last year. My wife came home from her office clamoring on about this song she heard. After a few days, I checked it out. Little did I know how much I would end up playing it over the course of a year. Chances are good that it may be my most played song of last year.
She started her career the same way that any young aspiring pop singer would. She used Tinder. While meeting Benny Blanco in New York in 2010, she reconnected with him a few years later in LA when a friend found him on Tinder. After swiping she was invited to his birthday party, where she gave him a link to her Soundcloud. Shortly after Blanco signed her to his Friends Keep Secrets label.
You can't look at Weaver and not think about where she would be without her famous friends. Blanco and Michael Angelakos (Passion Pit) and Cashmere Cat as producers. Charli XCX as a co-writer. Jessi Ware. Hayley Williams (Paramore). She starts seems rather manufactured.
"We're there to help her bring this to fruition," says Angelakos. "It's just easy because she's super talented. We do most of the music and everything, the production aspect, but other than that, it's really her vehicle, the voice and everything. People have compared [Weaver] to Lana Del Rey and these other artists that were very weirdly 'put together.' She's not that." ~ Michael Angelakos Billboard
Once you move past the first single there is honesty and confidence in her voice. Scattered in those four songs are personal short-comings. Nothing ground-breaking, nothing earth-shattering. She writes anthems for the heartbroken. A chance to for everyone to give the proverbial finger to lost loves of past.

Sounds Like: Genre: #FairyPop, Dance-Pop Similar Artists: Charli XCX, Broods, GEMS Similar Bonnaroo Artists: Tove Lo, MØ
Live: With the exception of a recent quirky Letterman performance, there isn't much out there (unless you just love handheld shaky fan videos). I picked a few that I liked. OctaHate Stay Low White Foxes(Susanne Sundfør cover)

Interesting Facts:
Ryn appeared in a past episode of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation titled "Skin in the Game" AKA THE SABBATH EPISODE.
She posted three songs as FemFemFem before moving back to LA. It even includes a very rough cover of Joanna Newsom’s “Peach, Plum, Pear.”
