Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I've searched around for a bit and haven't found anything about The New Basement Tapes assembling at some point during the festival. The obvious thing that would keep that from happening is the lack of Elvis Costello, but it wouldn't be too surprising if they brought him out as a surprise guest(!!!), had people fill in for him, or excluded his songs from the set. It just seems so obvious. Especially with Rhiannon Giddens coming on her own, sans Chocolate Drops.
Then I was trying to figure out how they would schedule it. a. They could schedule a Surprise Superjam-like thing, and bring out a ton of other people, too. b. Bring everyone out during a Which Stage set, like MMJ. This seems the most feasible, given space, and crowd size/interest. c. During a tent set (Dawes, Rhiannon Giddens), which I think would be super intimate, but still so much fun.
I can't imagine that it would happen during Mumford, I'm sure that more than half of the crowd of that show won't know that Marcus Mumford is even involved with this.

I think that seeing TNBT on the farm is very likely. I doubt any act gives up their time. With this kind of rare thing, The best thing for AC is to do is to give it its own superjam. Bring in Elvis, i don't really care for his work on album either. What would be even better is bring in Dylan himself! I know he has no connection to the tapes other than writing the songs. It would be neat to get Dylan out with the crew. Wishful thinking for sure!
The documentary on showtime was very entertaining and a neat look into how this process shakes out. Plus watching jim James roll his eyes when Marcus Mumford is being a diva is priceless!
May Tycho May Phoenix June Rooo July MMJ and Margo Price August Queen with Adam Lambert August Roger Waters (Bucket list #1) August Spoon and Portugal the man Sept Depeche Mode Sept Pilgrimage Fest
If it doesn't happen as the superjam it would happen during MMJ's set. During their One Big Holiday shows they played a couple of the songs, some with Taylor Goldsmith. I could see them bringing out each person for a couple TNBT songs
It would be cool if each artist did 2-3 songs with the whole crew at each of their primary sets. That way you'd have to go to each of the shows to collect the whole TNBT "show" and it would be spread over the whole weekend. Just a concept.

No, do not bring in Dylan. The guy is a washed up asshole that sounds terrible live. He's probably the greatest song writer of all time, but no thanks.
Also, Elvis is going to be in England during Bonnaroo, its not going to happen and they'll be ok wothout him.

I hate to agree with this. It kind of goes against my childhood teachings. But the last time I saw Dylan I sort of wish I didn't. I prefer my favorite artists to be immortal.
Someone up here mentioned a TNBT superjam with them doing a Dylan and/or The Band set. I think that would be cool with guests like Brittany Howard, Gary Clark Jr and others.
According to GINGER, Dawes' has Friday and Saturday listed for their Roo dates. So we can probably expect their solo set on one of those days and a TNBT set the other day.

If they just give MMJ the late night set I feel like they'll have plenty of time to work in TNBT material. A superjam would be sick tho. If I got both a late night and superjam from Yim Yames I might die from giddy schoogirl syndrome

This would be interesting for me, until I realize that I wouldn't be able to get within about a mile of the stage from all the people camping out the entire day to be up close for Marcus and Yim.

Someone from the OBH posted that they ran into some of MMJ at the airport and confirmed they will not be LN this year, but again mainstage probably pre-HL.
This is what I posted in the "I'm Paul Peck, producer of Bonnaroo SuperJams" AMA from a month ago: Just putting this out there for my dream SuperJam: The Last Waltz SuperJam, evvverybody loves The Last Waltz, so why not have it performed front to back. Have a house Band, similar to the Rock & Soul SuperJam, to perform The Band tunes, then have special guests come on to "play the role" of Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, Muddy Waters etc. Also of course, try to get as many originals as possible. I couldn't think of a more incredible SuperJam possible. PS: 2018 will be the 40th anniversary of the concert, start working on it now to make it amazing! Please!
Paul Peck's response: Yeah dude I've thought about this soooooo much you don't even know! Also, love the idea of recreating the Basement Tapes or possibly Dylan's '75 Rolling Thunder Revue (which is my favorite period of his career)
Paul Peck is obviously a huge fan, so they could do a SuperJam with TNBT doing some of their tunes and some from the original Basement Tapes sessions. Still hoping for a Last Waltz SuperJam one day though!

Still hoping for a solid bonnaroo cover of helpless.
Some of us think that, if anything, we'll get Marcus Mumford or Rhiannon to come out during MMJ's set or have Jim and/or Rhiannon coming out during Mumfords set.
If we get anything it'll just be a few songs.
I'll be red-faced angry if they put on a New Basement Tapes set somewhere as a surprise set (like Deervana a few years ago) and I miss it. But I doubt that is happening. I want to say Jim mentioned the band learning a few of the NBT songs on Reddit or somewhere.

Taylor Goldsmith is probably the most likely to come out because he's done it before, although I'm greedily hoping for appearances from all of them.
I know during the One Big Holiday shows, MMJ played "Down On the Bottom" and "Nothing To It"

I really hope they don't take away from the MMJ show with the stuff - I do like the album, but I'm greedy and would much prefer more MMJ songs. If anything, I hope it happens during the first hour of Mumford (may not be there for the 2nd hour haha)
