I can't believe you're #5. But it's good. It's part of the reason we're #1. So now I guess it's ok with me if ND keeps winning.
Quoting this post for when ND beats Clemson in 2 months and you complain about having to play a team you already beat and it being unfair.
You don't think Venables will have figured out how to stop all of the crossing routes you got back into the game with? I think if we played again it would be more like the first half was.
I can see Clemson being #1. They're certainly more deserving of it than Ohio State. I am really surprised that Alabama is #4 though. They have a loss while you have multiple other teams from Power 5 conferences that are undefeated. Also, their latest game is a five point victory over a 4-4 unranked Tennessee team. Not the most impressive victory.
After the shitty day I have had, I needed this. Proud Clemson alum. Please keep winning. I want to visit bacon & the Grand Canyon.
Grand canyon gonna be cold in January, if it's even open. Actually their first snow of the year is forecast today. Many people don't realize it is at about 7-8k feet in elevation.
I had a scary thought today. Would Uga come after Dabo?
He seems like the kind of guy that would stay and be loyal to his employer. Just a hunch. I think Georgia would make a play but you'd think they would do that through back channels now to know whether he'd consider it.
This gets to the problem of firing Richt. Exactly who will they get? I think Georgia is a great job - below Southern Cal but above every other opening - but I'm not sure they have someone that can live up to their expectations available to hire (aka the Tennessee problem).

Would Georgia have a money problem like Tennessee has? I know part of the problem with Tennessee's searches was that they were paying Fulmer and Dooley enough to where it negatively impacted their ability to put a wow offer on the table.

Probably not, i was just reading the other day how they have been working to lessen the buyout for all of their football coaches in the past few years to make the contracts more friendly to both sides and not be so onerous (as say, Kirk Ferentz' contract).

I think he could stay at Clemson a long time. But I also think his ultimate goal is probably to end up at Bama. I think Uga would be a step towards that.
I think they would be making a mistake firing Richt. There was a guy just talking on Finebaum about how firing coaches that win 75% of their games never really works out. Carr at Michigan, Fulmer, Mack Brown. They could get a coach that could win there, Dabo could win there, but the odds are against them.

Yeah, if the timing is right and everything he could end up at 'bama, just seems like Georgia would be superfluous. It's plenty reasonable to go from Clemson to Alabama, 'bama is better than most jobs. And, big factor here, if they continue to win Georgia won't want to wait for him. And if they do wait, then you know he's going. I can't imagine UGA would wait on him to be told no.
I would argue firing Carr, fulmer, and brown (though Carr retired) were all prudent decisions.
The point was none of them got better by firing those coaches. They actually got worse for a while. Georgia fans are taking 9 wins a year for granted. Before Richt they had a long period where they were not winning that much.

Agreed. Immediate success may not have been in the cards, but those certainly weren't going to get better with those coaches.
Edit: fun fact: all three of those coaches are from Tennessee.
Michigan got worse cause they blew up the program and hired Rodriguez to do everything different. It had nothing to do with Carr retiring. Had they gotten Les Miles instead they would have kept rolling.

Brown can't be debated I don't think.
Fulmer wasn't a bad decision per se except that they had a flawed plan to replace him. And I definitely believe that when you fire a guy who is classy, it hurts with the candidate pool to replace. Obviously there isn't an easy answer there.
Carr had a solid replacement, they just gave up on Rich Rod too early.

Kiffin was actually a really solid hire when it was made. Regardless of how successful it was, he had just been an NFL coach. Before that, he was an offensive and recruiting coordinator for a national championship team. A lot of people put him as one of the top young coaches in the game at that time. Little did they know he was going to dip on them after one season and leave at a time when potential hires were slim to the point where Dooley was the best option (even though Sumlin would have been much better in hindsight).

Plus kiffin brought along Jim Chaney, orgeron, and monte (who was actually the biggest coaching bust). People forget that Tennessee didn't hate kiffin bc he was a bad coach, but because he bolted in the middle of the night after ransacking the cupboard.
