So reportedly Pinkel is resigning at Mizzou for health reasons. Oh boy, have to fire up to open job rankings again to figure out where Mizzou slots in, and how much they will be affected by the on campus stuff this week. Have fun with this actually @fortyfive33 now. Are you on twitter? Will you be covering the search?
Hope Pinkel is ok health-wise, he's done a ton for that program.
I am on Twitter (Ellie for those of you who want to know), and I'll definitely being covering the search, likely in more than one capacity.
My gut reaction is that the most likely candidate is Barry Odom. It would be an interesting trajectory, but he's inarguably the best in-house candidate.
I'll admit that Mizzou isn't the most glamorous of jobs (I think it's more glamorous than UIUC, but that's neither here nor there), but we could pull some interesting names.
What I'm hoping for, and what this school really needs at this point, is a recruiter; a guy that can get kids to come here despite all that has been going on. Pinkel took 3-star guys and made them 4- and 5-star guys, but now we need to get over the hump and attract 4 or 5-star kids to begin with.

Yeah, my buddies were saying Odom would take the job if offered. Also hoping that Mack would reach out to Tom Herman (of course he will but Herman will have lots of offers) and Justin Fuente.
What I would love for Mizzou is to make a run at Mark Richt if Georgia (stupidly) fires him.
Oh, definitely Mizzou is a better job than Illinois.

If we got Richt.....hoo boy. I would love it. The Mizzou-UGA rivalry would reach new levels of hate.
I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if we got Herman or Fuente.
In any case I'll be signing up for a lot of football media days from here on out.

I feel like the CFB playoff is becoming more and more clear.
- Clemson should be undefeated going into the playoff, obviously if they don't get upset they will be in. - It would have to be a pretty wild scenario for the Big10 champ not to be in the playoff. If Michigan St wins Saturday they will control their own destiny. If Iowa wins out they will have a spot. Obviously if OSU wins out they will have a spot. It be a funky situation if they beat MSU, lose to Michigan, and then beat Iowa in the Big10 title game...the point to this ramble, it's very likely the Big10 champ will have a spot in the playoff. - It's not as close to a lock as the Big10, but very likely the SEC champ will be in the playoff. Bama could lose to Auburn then beat UF, and UF could lose to FSU and then beat Bama...but neither of those scenarios are likely. - I believe OkSt controls their destiny for the last spot. I could see them jumping both Iowa/ND if they beat Baylor Saturday (both Iowa and ND play shitty teams this weekend). If OkSt does lose one of the next two weeks then ND will have a spot, assuming they can beat Stanford next week. If ND was to lose to Stanford and OkSt has a lost...the door is open for OU.
If Ohio St and Clemson were both to win out, would Ohio St jump Clemson for the #1 seed? I know OSU is two spots behind them right now in the playoff, but the next three games for them are all against top 15 teams. Clemson next two games are against a pair of 3-7 teams before UNC in the ACC title game.

Hopefully Bama wouldn't get in if they lose to Auburn. No way Fla gets in if they lose to FSU.
Clemson, Bama, Ohio St all get in if they win. The last spot would be between ND and the Big 12 champ(if they have 0 or 1 loss).

I was trying to say that was scenarios for the SEC not to get a team in the playoff...nobody is going to the CFB playoff with 2 L's.
Bama should win out. Auburn won't put up much of a fight. UF defense is almost as good as Bama's, but they can't keep their offense in the game for 4 quarters. Bama and Clemson seem like locks for the playoff.
I think OU will be able to handle a beat up TCU this week, and the winner of Bedlam will represent the B12 in the playoff while Baylor cries in the corner.
The B1G actually has the most interesting scenarios, as MSU-OSU and TheGame could both go either way, and behind them there is still an unbeaten Iowa.

You think if both OkSt and OU win this week, ND is out of a playoff spot?

It's possible. I have no idea what they will do in that situation.

I certainly hope so. Fuck Notre Dame.
Also, I saw there are rumors about Miami going hard after Charlie Strong and Texas preparing to write Saban a blank check in order to get him away from Alabama. I don't see it happening, but I do love imagining what would happen in these hypotheticals especially with so many vacancies already open.

Which receiver, Scott? I think he's hardly a lock. (Note: I am not saying he won't make it).
Yea, Scott. He's 2nd to Boyd in receptions. He hasn't broken as many long ones this year, but he's still up there.
I actually think there are a lot of candidates for both spots. I'm biased and think Boyd should get one, but I don't think there's any guarantee at that position this year. Also I think it's more an indictment of the position in the conference than a good thing.

Looking at the stats, it's pretty clearly Boyd and Scott.

Sounds good to me...
Also looking at the stats, I expected Boyd to be the leader by far. Every time I've turned on a Pitt game, they're throwing to him almost every play. He only has 1 more catch than Scott, for slightly more yards and 1 more td (but Scott has a rushing td). For some reason it doesn't seem to me that we throw to Scott as much, but I guess we do. It's all those screen passes.

Boyd has played one fewer game, due to his "dui-ish" suspension (he took a shot, then drove, got pulled over - he's only 20 so when he blew a .02 he was cited).

Just heard a guy named Booger making the stupidest argument ever. He thinks if LSU loses again that they should fire Les Miles.
I think Les Miles is a terrible coach, but if they've kept him this long why fire him now? This year would literally be the worst year to fire him with all of the openings in the game, and firing a guy who has won as much as Miles won't make your job look any more attractive...

Can you be a terrible coach and win that much? I mean there's only 2 guys that have won more than him the last 10 years. Who could they get that would win more? It's similar to the Richt situation. You say you want to fire him, but be careful what you wish for.
