Jazzfest > Lock'n > Big Ears > Lollapolooza > Wakarusa > Bonnaroo > Hangout > Buku > Aura Fest > Counterpoint > Shaky Knees > Sweetwater (which is still great, and I'd go if I lived there)
(Of the ones I've looked the hardest at). Lock'n rules. Big Ears is mostly over my head. Waka is up there due to personal preference and the fact that there are more acts (67 or 68) that I want to see than any other lineup. Lollapolooza gets the rock nod.
I like how Osheaga keeps getting prominent placements. When I made a list of artists I like for that one it was long and impressive yet when I look at the poster I'm not really that wowed or overwhelmed by it at all.

I think there are two things going on here. First, similar to Sasquatch, Osheaga's lineup is relatively weak up top this year. Second, the billing order is very perplexing.

Well once you get past the lack of real headliners it's pretty great.
Outside Lands > Shaky Knees > Coachella > Boston Calling > Governor's Ball > Lollapalooza > Bonnaroo > Hangout > Osheaga > Firefly > Beale St. > Jazzfest > Sasquatch > Pitchfork > all the other fests except Forecastle > Forecastle
Hahaha, so you're pumped for Forecastle I see?
I am bad at ranking like this, plus then it'll make me sad about all the good shit I'm missing. However, after seeing Lolla today, that's either 1 or 2 I think. But I don't like the sound of Lolla's layout and vibe as a festival, so.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Random thought about this year's festivals: I'm surprised about the absence of Passion Pit on nearly every summer festival lineup. I thought for sure they would be playing at least two of Lolla, Osheaga, and Outside Lands.

It's funny how lots of people are picking Lolla, which is good but nothing special after the first two headliners, and then Shaky Graves/Osheaga, which have great undercards but are headliner free.
IMO Coachella is the most balanced lineup top to bottom, but that doesn't seem to be moving people.
assume we're only talking u.s.a festivals? if not my list would be very different. Anyways Coachella > Movement > Outside Lands > Lolla > Osheaga > Shaky Knees > Pitchfork > Bonnaroo > Sasquatch > Gov Ball > Firefly > Hangout.

Holy shit, just went back and looked at Counterpoint. That wins worst fest of the year easily.
They probably have the biggest drop in quality from year to year of any fest.
Wow. I agree. Just the size of the names is on a constant downward slope. The only blip on the radar is Outkast, but taking into account that Outkast played 40 fests....eh.
2012: Bassnectar Skrillex Pretty Lights Avicii Steve Angello
2013 - no fest
2014: Outkast Pretty Lights Foster the People STS9 J. Cole
2015: Widespread Panic Zedd The Roots Kygo Knife Party
Overall this years best lineup was determined by mostly undercards and uniqueness, adjusted for size of fest. Shaky Knees has the best mix of all three. Lolla has an impressive undercard for having 2 HUGE names (something that Firefly was using as crutch for their terrible undercard and now they just look weak). Osheaga has the best undercard IMO w/ quality, weaker headliners(I love TBK, shoot me) and their size makes it stand out. Sasquatch offers one of the most gorgeous, unique venues and has an amazing undercard with weak headliners. Eax Claire is small but insanely unique and has the greatest live band of all time performing in a passion project and also the first performance by Bon Iver since 2012...I mean this should honestly be number 1 but all the other pretty, stacked lineups are distracting from it. Coachella is, well, another year of a solid Coachella lineup(minus Drake). Gov Ball has a rock solid undercard and decent headliners but nothing too special. Pitchfork has a lot of exclusives but past lineups have been better IMO. Outside Lands is really top heavy but most are quality acts, around Milky Chance you can really see how it effects the lower billing. Bonarroo disappoints, until they announce a New Basement Tapes Superjam they will stay this low mainly due to the leaving out a lot of undercards that are hitting the festival circuit and having Mumford headline with no promise of their new stuff being quality music(also Elton>Joel). Firefly is a clusterquack and they can't even pull the Macca card any more; I wouldn't be going if I didnt get a free ticket. (If Mike G is reading this please dont tell on me) Sorry to Hangout(not so much to Forecastle cause this years lineup was completely embarrassing), if you put Sam Smith in the top 3 you automatically are at the bottom of my list. At least Lolla and OL contained him to a 4-6 billing. But yeah that's where Im at with ranks until more additions are announced.
Also obviously including Eurofests would be too much but it's safe to say Primavera Sound 2015 has the greatest lineup of the year IMO.
Holy shiz, just went back and looked at Counterpoint. That wins worst fest of the year easily.
It's a smaller deal, but there is a ton more shit I would choose to see there than Shaky Knees which people are freaking ga-ga over. I'd go if I lived near Atlanta, but there are maybe 10 acts I'd even want to see there, several of which I've already seen. And then there's pap like Social D (nice guys, but their brand of OC Punk was lame in the early 80's - ref. shit like Mommy's Little Monster). We called that "chick punk" back in the hardcore days.
Voo Doo and ACL are probably going to make all of these lists irrelevant.
Hey yo Launchpad McQuack. Got anything on Voodoo yet? I know it will be worth the $100 presale, but I really want Tool and Faith No More on this run. Hard will stack the EDM stage with shit I both want to and don't want to see. But Voodoo brings that rock, and I need more. Throw the people a bone if you get any good information.

*edit to say I just went back to look at both Shaky Knees and Counterpoint, and there is nearly as much shit I would see either Satursay or Sunday at Counterpoint than the entire Shaky Knees lineup. Yikes. How that is considered great by so many people, when much of the lineup is musically mediocre just goes to show that musicianship obviously isn't a defining characteristic of a lot of opinions. obviously there are exceptions.
