Today seems as good a day as any to start this! Two things to kick this off:
1. Give us your allegiances - who do you root for? 2. Give us your predictions - as detailed as you want to be.
I'm one of those fans of the Pittsburgh Pirates who didn't give up through 20 years of losing. I went from the age of 11 to 32 without seeing a winning baseball season but I've felt extremely rewarded the last two years and I think now we're out of the wilderness. I'm a little worried about some fall off from last year but we'll see how it goes.
predictions:
AL East - Red Sox AL Central - Tigers AL West - Mariners Wild Cards - Indians, Angels LCS - Red Sox over Indians (worried about the Sox pitching) Sleeper - Blue Jays
NL East - Nats NL Central - Cards (ugh) NL West - Dodgers Wild Cards - Bucs, Padres LCS - Nats over Dodgers Sleeper - Mets (if stuff goes right with their pitching and they figure out a few young hitters like Herrera and Plawecki)
Buccos all the way baby! Its looking bright in this city. Baseball is fun again
will you be at the opener next week?
No I was just on vacation for a week and Im off later that week for Sweetwater so I didnt want to burn another vacation day. I have tickets for Wednesday though. You goin to the opener?

I go every year with my dad, but he's on the fence for this year. I have the day off and plan on being there though.
Red Sox with a great start and then we sign Porcello to a crazy deal. Why not wait a month or two and see if he can handle Boston?
Is "handling Boston" some type of challenge for professional athletes? I've never heard of pros falling apart because they overdid it with the Boston nightlife...

...Boston has nightlife?
Can't even get innua baaah aftah one thiiihty, kiiiid. This ain't New Yawk!
I think he's referring to the media scrutiny, which is more commonly associated with New York.
New York has media scrutiny but Boston has the most fan scrutiny. The passion goes both ways. If we love you we love you but if we hate you we really hate you. Bill Buckner's family hates Boston because of how the fans turned on him. We hate Ellsbury too.
This whole not being in college thing has given me a lot more free time, and I finally want to get into watching baseball. I've watched the occassional game off and on for several years, but I can't decide if it's something I'll really get super into. It seems like such a slow paced game to me, but I'm sure that I'll understand the intricacies of the game the more I watch it. I don't have cable, and I'm looking at the MLB.tv service - I'm going to see if they have a free trial or something. I'd like to follow the season for a while before committing to the price.

What team are you looking at following? Or are you just gonna watch random games?
