I spent a couple hours scouring line ups for festivals that are popular here on inforoo. I used headliners to fill the 1-9 seeds for each of the 4 regions and then filled in the remaining 28 spots with acts who are booked high on the lineups at multiple fests.
Round 2 credentials

Picking Ryan Adama over Billy Joel as he biggest upset that I think may happen. Pixies vs Strokes will probably be the closest race. St. Vincent vs Future Islands could be interesting because Future Islands gets a lot of love around here but I think St. Vincent gets even more so that pretty much cancels out F.I.'s chance at an upset. Also, I think MMJ might just get knocked out
Also, I'm pretty sure Snoop is gonna make it through which really surprised me because I wouldn't have guessed that he'd even make it past the 1st round.
If the first 5 voters (as of this post) are any indication this round is going to have no close ones at all.
Yeah, but that because it's the regulars who are always on here that were looking forward to this survey that have voted, I could easily guess who those votes would go for BUT last round had like 90 people vote and I think that consists of a lot of people who don't post much because they can vote on this without revealing who they voted for so no one can really fuck with them... You know... Because people around inforoo are so mean (according to reddit at least) hahaha

Never thought I'd be casting a vote for The Who. Lesser of two evils I suppose. Plus, I'm sure they were very innovative in their day and it's cool to see them smash all their shit in the Woodstock film.

Agree with all this except the MMJ comment. I voted for Robert Plant but know how much sway Jacket (deservingly) has with the Inforoo crowd. I was very surprised Future Islands advanced over deadmau5 so maybe they can surprise again but I sure hope not. Foster the People is another group I never imagined would advance but here they are. I don't believe they have ANY chance to move ahead any further though.

Oh yeah, I'm quite confident that MMJ will advance but I was just saying that enough people love Zeppelin that there is a small chance they could lose. Plus, they'd almost certainly lose if this surgery weren't on inforoo. The thing for me though is that Robert Plant is just so far past his prime now that I'd prefer seeing a younger rock group that still is firing on all cylinders over his half performance of a few of Zeppelin's hits. I'm not even saying this as a huge knock on him, I'd love to see a Robert Plant as well, but you can't expect somebody that old to sound the way they did in the 70's. Side note: I watched footage the other day of him from the Freddy Mercury tribute in the 90's and man did he still have a kick ass voice then and then I realized that stuff in the early 90's was 20+ years ago now and that blew my mind.
Mind blowing indeed. I don't know if you are the right age to have been growing up when The Wonder Years was airing on tv but it was pointed out sometime last year that if a similar show were to be made today it would be based on a kid growing up in the 90's. That's crazy to me because the differences between life in the 60's and 80's seems so much more dramatic than the 90's to today but the same amount of time has passed in either case.
On a different note it appears that Billy Joel is not going to go quietly after all!
Pixies and the strokes is the best battle happening. I'm also so glad FtP is getting torn apart. I know St Vincent is super popular but I expected a little better turnout from FI.
I hope Pixies can claw their way back in their current contest with The Strokes although I love them both. I think St. Vincent will take TV on the Radio out next round but not sure then between St. Vincent/Pixies/Strokes/The Who.
On the other side of the bracket I think Region 4 is the weakest which makes it difficult to predict but if AC/DC can triumph over Sleater-Kinney which given the timing of next week's voting in relation to Coachella they should they may have that region won.
Also, I'm pretty sure Snoop is gonna make it through which really surprised me because I wouldn't have guessed that he'd even make it past the 1st round.
If Snoop can upset Billy Joel I think that may be the biggest upset of the whole tournament and I'm not sure he won't do it. Cinderizzle.
