I spent a couple hours scouring line ups for festivals that are popular here on inforoo. I used headliners to fill the 1-9 seeds for each of the 4 regions and then filled in the remaining 28 spots with acts who are booked high on the lineups at multiple fests.
Round 4 credentials
1-The Who: Headlining JazzFest. Defeated Paramore, No Doubt, and The Strokes to advance. 11-St. Vincent: Appearing at Coachella, Sasquatch, Governor's Ball, Boston Calling, Beale St, Wayhome. Defeated The Killers, Future Islands, and TV on the Radio to advance.
4-My Morning Jacket: Headlining Governor's Ball. Also appearing at Bonnaroo, Boston Calling, Forecastle & Hangout. Defeated Brand New, Robert Plant, and Elton John to advance. 6-Snoop Dogg: Headlining Firefly & Bunbury. Defeated James Blake, Cage the Elephant, and Billy Joel to advance.
1-Paul McCartney: Headlining Firefly. Defeated Houndmouth, Pretty Lights, and Beck to advance. 2-Jack White: Headlining Coachella. Defeated Passion Pit, Tame Impala, and Kendrick Lamar to advance.
13-Spoon: Appearing at Bonnaroo, Sasquatch, Firefly & Hangout. Defeated Avett Brothers, Noel Gallagher's HFB, and AC/DC to advance. 7-Modest Mouse: Headlining Sasquatch. Also appearing at Wayhome, Firefly & Forecastle. Defeated Hozier, Mumford & Sons, and The Black Keys to advance.
Two out of four #1 seeds advance again: Elton John was beat badly by 4-My Morning Jacket and AC/DC was narrowly upset by 13-Spoon. One out of two #2 seeds advance again: Billy Joel lost out in another close one to 6-Snoop Dogg. Both #3 seeds lost: Kendrick Lamar fell to 2-Jack White and The Black Keys were upset by 7-Modest Mouse. One out of two #4 seeds advance again: Beck had the misfortune to meet up with the might 1-Paul McCartney. Our last #5 seed lost: The Strokes were eliminated by 1-The Who. Our only #6 seed advanced again: Snoop Dogg won again and I still am surprised. The final #7 seed advanced again: Modest Mouse moves on and will be the higher seed in matchup with 13-Spoon.
2 out of 28 undercard competitors remain (St. Vincent and Spoon). In Round 3 there was only one Headliner vs. Undercard match (1-AC/DC vs 13-Spoon) and amazingly the undercard opponent won. There was also an upset in the Undercard vs. Undercard match but that one was much less shocking (10-TV on the Radio vs. 11-St. Vincent). In Round 4 both Undercard opponents will face Headliner foes.
Two out of eight Round 2 matchups were decided by 5 votes or less. 6-Snoop Dogg over 2-Billy Joel: 35-30 13-Spoon over 1-AC/DC: 35-31
Of the 20 that began, 4-My Morning Jacket & 13-Spoon are the final remaining Bonnaroo performers in the Elite 8. The two that lost in Round 3 were 2-Billy Joel & 3-Kendrick Lamar.
This is the most predictable round yet IMO. With The Who, MMJ, Macca, and Modest Mouse making it through to the Final Four, I think it'll be: 1. The Who vs. MMJ - this is the match up I'm excited to see how it ends up because everyone likes Th Who but few people are as into them as many of the people on info roo are into MMJ. Plus, I think they will end up with around the same number of votes as each other this, further proving how close of a matchup this is likely to be. While I think this can go either way, I think The Who's legendary status will end up pulling them through this one because there have been tons of people voting in weeks prior, I think the more casual members of the board will get The Who to the championship.
2. Paul vs. Modest Mouse - This one will be a joke, I LOVE Modest Mouse, but they won't be able to touch Macca with a ten foot pole.
With that being said, my prediction for the championship matchup is The Who vs. Paul McCartney. McCartney will almost undoubtedly crush The Who, the same way he has crushed everyone else. That is exactly what I predicted in the beginning, before I ever saw the bracket for the tournament. But, I'm sure this comes as a surprise to nobody. Now I've put it out there, let's see if my predictions are correct!

Paul McCartney will win, but judging by a lot of the 8, people on this forum do homer for some not necessarily great stuff. I can understand people liking Spoon (they don't do anything for me, but whatever), but they don't belong anywhere near any Top 8 of most US Major Festivals. I'm sure McCartney is great live, and I'd see him. But side by side, The Who (which incidentally I just saw yesterday at their first US Fest since Woodstock) would smoke McCartney or anyone else remaining on the list. <--- Just getting all that in for the record

No, I really don't think a Who show would be as good as Macca. But that's because I'm a much bigger Beatles fan than I am The Who
Come on snowmanpj. I love Keith Moon, and I love Entwistle. I even liked Kenny Jones whom I'm not sure on current life status. But Pete Townshend truly was the creative force behind their best works. He still has it, at least as of Saturday. And though Daltrey may not be able to hit some of the notes he was getting 50 years ago, he was still a great entertainer and could still work a mic and mic stand as only he can do. Seriously.
Fore, while I understand your position and certainly respect it, other than it being more of a sing along (not that The Who wasn't as well), I don't think the music is on the same level. I really don't like any of the early period Beatles personally, and it's my opinion that from the Revolver/Rubber Soul era on, it got better. Most people, I think, would give Top 1 to Sgt Pepper's, but I always thought The White Album and Magical Mystery Tour were the best. That's just me. My oldest saw him at Roo a couple years back, and the setlist was impressive. But I just don't think it's on the same musical level. Maybe if Harrison or Lennon were still alive and doing some type of Beatles collaboration or whatever, it would be closer. Also, let me throw it up for The Who's drummer, Zak Starkey, who is none other than Ringo's son. Haha. He was pretty good too.

Paul McCartney's show kicked serious ass my dear friend. Many of the members of this board have said they believe it was the best show ever on the farm. And for those that don't think it was the BEST ever, virtually everyone that went in 2013 has it in their top 3
Right on. I didn't get over there that year and I missed the tour when it came through. I Seem to remember some Wings tunes on the list. But I guess I'll have to go look back at it. I know it was great, but so so much of the eclectic side of the Beatles came from Lennon and Harrison. Let me go look....yeah, a lot of Wings, a cover and some love songs along with a good other assortment. I think my favorites from that set would have been Helter Skelter, Day Tripper, Live and Let Die, Back in the USSR, 1985, Blackbird, For the Benefit of Mr Kite and Elanor Rigby. Band on the Run would probably have been my favorite Wings song

Yep, all those were amazing. Of course the sing-a-long to Hey Jude was beautiful. Back in the USSR was one of my faves, Day Tripper was great because he told a little story about Hendrix right before playing it, Live and Let Die had the coolest use of fireworks ever, Benefit of Mr. kite was so awesome to see because it's always been one of my favorites, but my favorite was the opening song, 8 Days a Week, because one of my earliest memories is playing it everyday on cassette in my dad's car back in the late 90's AND, until that tour, no member of the Beatles had performed that song live. The only time the Beatles had kind of performed it live was they once lip-synced it for a tv show but the tour I finally got to see Beatle play was the one tour when they finally played my favorite song. Also, watching McCartney and then getting to talk to my grandpa about seeing him, just like he did back in the 80's and comparing our experiences and how he looked like a little any from so far away, haha. It is truly great that I have that kind of thing that I can relate with my grandfather on and share stories with each other.

Yes, it appears clear that is what's going to happen though I didn't expect all these to be so clear cut before the voting started since The Who and St. Vincent both had similarly strong wins over their Sweet Sixteen opponents and Spoon's popularity has completely caught me by surprise so seemed anything was possible with them especially going up against a #7 ranked opponent. I stated before I filled out a bracket with my own picks when we first got started and that ended in a Who vs. Paul final but I actually expect MMJ has the edge with the showing they've made thus far in the tournament. I'm completely in agreement with you about the second Final Four matchup.
