Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I spent a couple hours scouring line ups for festivals that are popular here on inforoo. I used headliners to fill the 1-9 seeds for each of the 4 regions and then filled in the remaining 28 spots with acts who are booked high on the lineups at multiple fests.
Round 5 credentials
1-The Who: Headlining JazzFest. Defeated Paramore, No Doubt, The Strokes, and St. Vincent to advance. 4-My Morning Jacket: Headlining Governor's Ball. Also appearing at Bonnaroo, Boston Calling, Forecastle & Hangout. Defeated Brand New, Robert Plant, Elton John, and Snoop Dogg to advance.
1-Paul McCartney: Headlining Firefly. Defeated Houndmouth, Pretty Lights, Beck, and Jack White to advance. 7-Modest Mouse: Headlining Sasquatch. Also appearing at Wayhome, Firefly & Forecastle. Defeated Hozier, Mumford & Sons, The Black Keys, and Spoon to advance.
Both #1 seeds advance again: The Who & Paul McCartney are through to the Final Four. The final #2 seed knocked out: Jack White is the latest victim to Paul McCartney's dominance. Our only remaining #4 seed advanced again: My Morning Jacket will represent Region 2 in semi-final round. The last #6 seed has fallen: Snoop Dogg's cinderella run has come to an end. The final #7 seed advanced again: Modest Mouse moves on and represent Region 4 in Final Four.
None of the 28 undercard competitors remain. St. Vincent and Spoon both lost to Headliner opponents in Round 4.
None of the 4 matches were very close with the closest battle still being won by over 20 points.
Of the 20 that began, 4-My Morning Jacket is the only Bonnaroo performer in the Final Four. The other which lost in Round 4 was 13-Spoon.
Wait, so, the collective "wisdom" of this board has somehow determined that the top four festival acts of 2015 are Paul McCartney, My Morning Jacket, the Who, and Modest Mouse? Holy God in Heaven.
You must not have seen what we had to work with. I mean, for God's sake, Keith Urban and No Doubt were among the contenders. At least we didn't wind up with Billy Joel in the final four.

I think the seeding was based on billing, not "coolness", which might explain why some of those unique acts for left off. I really can't remember all the bands that were included though.

What the fuck? I mean, I get that this was about as terrible a year for festivals as we've seen, but there were still a handful of cool, unique acts out there.
While I'm not disagreeing with you, though I'm LMF*O that MMJ would be above The Who*, The Who hadn't played a US Festival in 50 years. They pretty much ruled at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. And a 50 year gap is fairly unique.
*Me: Who do you want to see, Pink Floyd or Future Islands? This Board: Oh Future Islands ftw!!! Me: Damn.
I think Paul McCartney should have been taken out of the contest and just ruled #1 by default. It's been clear he's going to win for some time now and he massacred Beck and Jack White in the last two rounds.
Modest Mouse has no business being in the final four.
Modest Mouse is probably the least boring out of these four acts, if we're being honest.
I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you there. My children even hated them in middle school many years ago. I have no opinion, but it's not like any of my 3 were raised on anything mainstream or even mainstream-alternative (heh)

You judge music based on whether your kids like it or not?
Not always, but mine are a bit of a special case as they have been raised on real [tm] shit since they were little. They are pretty opinionated and discriminating when it comes to music, chips off the old block. So if they were 11 or 12 and cracking on their ubernerd classmates' tastes (Backstreet, Modest Mouse, and other popular stuff from that day), it does count. Shit, they could have been 7 or 8 and known better.
I've only heard a few songs, and they did nothing for me. I'm not hating though, because I've never seen them live and would certainly give them a chance. Nothing I have heard by them sounded remotely "interesting" however. I'm willing to admit I could be wrong.

So anything popular is bad? I don't really care what music you like but comparing Modest Mouse to the Backstreet Boys is a bit ridiculous. The only similarity is that both were popular.

Lol, look at these 11 year olds who like Backstreet Boys and Modest Mouse!
Maybe you should listen to The Lonesome Crowded West or Moon and Antarctica (or Millennium by Backstreet Boys) and make an informed decision.

Sort of the same era. I'm not calling Modest Mouse a boy band. Popular isn't necessarily bad, but popular as (then) promoted by heavy rotation in places like MTV or local wimp station 97.1 usually was. Modest Mouse was a band a lot of the Emo kids of that era took to for whatever reason, so I think that probably played into their thought processes.
Fwiw, I listen to most things outside of country, opera, top 40 and western. Preference is more creative and/or complicated stuff such as King Crimson, Zappa, ELP or Hawkwind down through Jazz fusion all the way to US hardcore punk as in Circle Jerks, DK's etc. my thing was always to find something that either danced in my head or motivated me to stagedive, cartwheel or headbang. I like shit to have an influence on me more than me just wanting to sing along if that makes sense.

But, Modest Mouse > Foo Fighters, right?
I haven't seen them yet, but they are at ACL 2nd Weekend, and barring a conflict, I'll stop by to see some of the show. I saw Foo Fighters 3 times, and all 3 times were pretty great. They blew away RHCP at UNO Arena back around 99/2000. Then they were great at Deluna in 2012 (I had that 2nd to Pearl Jam), and they were really good at Voodoo this past year and landed in my Top 1 [tm] spot for Voodoo 2014. IMHO, and I realize that a lot of what they do is just mainstream rock, they are fun as **** live. I'll see them at Hangout next Friday, and I'll see them at ACL. That may be enough for me, but so far so good.
Last day for Final Four voting. Seems like this one is determined however if one or two people changed their minds I'd say The Who still stand a chance. Finalize your selections now.
