I hesitate to add them, but Tool might actually have their album out by the end of this year now that their lawsuit is over. Could definitely be on the festival circuit next year if that's the case.

Pearl Jam - Tool - Gorillaz 2016
i'd bet millions that we wouldnt' even get 2 of the 3 at this point. looks like the formula right now is big time rap act, safe sing along rock band, legendary old school closer. with the exception of maybe pearl jam, we've got none of those

That's not really the formula since it's literally only happened once (2014). Even this year, Deadmau5 is in the top 3 and Kendrick isn't.

this was my first thought too
I am optimistic and am hoping that Tool will hit the end of the year festivals (Voodoo/FFF), but I know...dreamland.

They'd sell tons of tickets with my hypothetical Top 3 and could still nail down a rapper and EDM act for 4 and 5 as top billed late night acts. Make it happen Superfly!

They need to have Muse. It absolutely amazes me they haven't been there yet. Roo is like the only large music festival they haven't headlined. I saw them a couple years back and was hands down the best show I have ever seen.
Would like to see Modest Mouse to since I was really expecting to see them as an add-on this year, which didn't happen.

A few comments:
1) I would switch Father John Misty with A$AP Rocky. A$AP Rocky is much closer to cracking the top 10 already, and the new album could give him the boost needed. FJM is nowhere near the top 10 IMO. 2) You might want to put an asterisk next to The Strokes. I would've pegged them as an act in the 4-6 range, but they're top 3 at ACL this year, so they could easily be a headliner in 2016 (even if they're not exactly deserving). 3) Fruit Bats have dissolved, so you can cross them off the list.

Asap Rocky has been billed lower as of late but I agree he could make a jump. Depends on the fest really. That's why I bumped FJM - he's the kind of act bonnaro will over bill for sure. Strokes would still sub Roo.

Ah, didn't know about the Fruit Bats. Good catch. And I agree that The Strokes would likely be a sub at Roo, even if they headline elsewhere. Can't believe they were billed so low in 2011 when they were top 4 everywhere else.
Bonnaroo and about half the festivals in the US still havent gotten Action Bronson. 2016 could be the year.
His Roo performance in '13 was one of my favorites of that year. That's one feather in Bonnaroo's scheduling department's cap, giving me that alternative to Macklemore.
Top 10: Band of Horses (?) Lykke Li (?) Willie Nelson Crosby, Stills, and Nash John Fogerty Kid Cudi (?) Lorde
Undercard: Lucius Portugal. the Man Matt & Kim San Fermin The Tallest Man On Earth State Radio Chance the Rapper Joy Williams Grace Potter Local Natives Vetiver The Bees (Band of Bees)

Is Oasis for sure reuniting? I don't think they would headline roo, Coachella obviously cause the people running it love Brit rock, but man, to have them on the farm at any time of day would be a dream come true for me
