Anyone have any brilliant ideas on keeping jello shots cold, doesn't work well with regular ice. And I don't wanna poison or burn anybody with dry ice. Only need em cool for 24 hrs or so, sure they'll be gone by Thursday morning. Maybe frozen water bottles? Anyone tried before?
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
My friend's recipe lasted all day at BUKU and Voodoo. Every time I saw hime he was giving us jello shots that were very firm. I can see what his secret is and let you know.

yea if it's only 24 hours, plenty of ice should do the trick. a girl in our group brought like 200 last year. by friday morning they were pretty goopy, but they still tasted delcious!
The only real threat from dry ice is the fact that CO2 will dissolve into the surrounding items (for example dry ice basically carbonated my grapes a few years ago). With that said, if you leave a towel or some solid barrier between dry ice and whatever you're cooling, you should be good.

Please, keep us up to date on how he keeps them firm.

I'll request the recipe, he has given it to me before.
Recipe (I have requested the secret to keeping them firm): 4 small/2 large boxes jello. Any flavor. Put all jello powder into a medium saucepan on medium. Add 2/3 cup water. For a while, you won't think this is enough water, but it really is once the heat gets there. You may need to add just a few drops though. The goal is to use as little water as possible while still making a liquidy goo. Turn heat to high until boiling. Be careful, as this is a mess you do not want to deal with if it boils over. As soon as it is boiling, remove from heat and add 1 1/3 cup Vodka (or whatever). Mix. Put in cups, throw in fridge immediately and wait 3 hours. BAM. Best jello shots ever.
EDIT: He says that recipe just has to stay coldish. If they get too warm they will melt, but will last longer than most.
Thanks everyone! And this is Roo #7 for me, just never made a sh!tload of jello shots. I'll test out the recipe by the pool this weekend and let yall know how it goes. Sounds like a good cooler letlft in the shade and kept full of ice might be the way to go. Thanks again, see ya in 3 weeks!
paging Struggs lol she brings jello shots every year. they stayed good until sunday of last year and we set the cooler out with a sign for people to take them because it was just so many left.

We were toying with the idea of just making pans of jello shots in like, cake pans. Mainly to conserve space in the ice chest. We've decided to bring less food though so we can fit a couple hundred of those little cups in the ice chest instead. We'll have one of those dorm fridges to put them in once we get set up so we really just need a way to transport them.

I'll have to remember this this year!
We have a group of people together this year so she's making A LOT! You will definitely have to come get some!

I'm making over 200 jello shots this year, haha.
As far as the original concept, the original poster indicated not wanting to use dry ice, which is actually what I always used. Dry ice wrapped in a towel at the bottom of the cooler, layer of regular ice, stacked jello shots, and then just dump more regular ice on top to fill spaces.
