I really wanna hit Atl for this. Too bad I'll be living in Little Rock rather than Knoxville at that point. Hopefully I can find a cheap flight, but I doubt it. That lineup is seriously stacked.
For those who haven't been, the venue is pretty good too. I went to Shaky Knees there in April and enjoyed it. It gets hot, though. My biggest complaint was that 1 (2?) stage(s) were on a fucking parking lot with basically no shade as cover, which was bad in May in Atlanta, but will be downright miserable in August there. They had 5 total stages if I recall correctly, so maybe this lineup would only take a few less. The location is also great in relation to the city/nightlife. Midtown is where it's at!
Quick edit: Any lower tier acts I should check out? I only know a couple listed below Thundercat. Help sell me on this fest!
Alright Atlanta residents and people who travel to ATL a lot -- am I best to stay close to Central Park (within 1.5 miles) and walk? Or better to stay a bit out of the city and cab it?

Uber is in Atlanta and pretty cheap. I wouldn't be too worried about staying somewhere away from Central Park. Then again, there's always Red Roof Inn with my sexy ass right next to the venue.

Just a friendly bit of advice. Stay the fuck away from the Red Roof Inn near Central Park.

It's not fancy, but the Highland Inn is in a great intown neighborhood (Poncy-Highlands), with free parking. Easy walking distance to L5P, the Majestic, and the Masquerade. It's about 1.5 miles from Central Park. Some of the neighborhoods get a little rundown between the hotel and Central Park, but if you stick to the main thoroughfares (North Ave, or Ponce, or even the Freedom Parkway trail), it's all gentrified and shit. Other than some catcalls, I've never had any issues walking, biking, or skating my way around there - even in the wee hours of the morning.
The building is old and the furnishings are dated; but it's clean, and very affordable. I like it.

Truth. If you f*ckers book all the rooms, I miss the hookers and blow.
I'll probably be going solo to the Atlanta one, if anyone wants to meet up, I could probably use a concert buddy
Me and my show buddy will be there. You are welcome to hang with us for some sets.
About us: Long-time show buddies. We will work our way to the front, through any size crowd, if we think a show will be worth it. We will abandon a show if the sound sucks. We suffer fools kindly. We drink - all day.

Planned on going to this, but D'Angelo was the main reason I planned on going and he announced a much closer headlining show to me. Sunday looks like the better day.
Ah, sorry that was vague - and probably not the right expression to use. I meant that we're pretty laid back when it comes to people shenanigans - good and bad. If someone around us is enjoying the shit out of the show, and smacks us with some windmill arms or something, it's all good. It's part of the experience.
If someone is disrupting the scene for less fun reasons, like talking though the show, or not putting the phone down, we don't get worked up about it. The crowd is an ebb and flow of delightful, and not-so-delightful people. We just keep an eye out for a better spot. Eventually one will open, then the show gets awesome again.

In the footage I've seen from the Brooklyn fests, the crowd seems to be one of the most chill and the fest overall looks to have a great vibe. I wouldn't expect any elbows to be thrown, unless you've been drinking all day and want to mosh at Death Grips.

Danny Brown, Tyler the Creator, Trash Talk, and Suicidal Tendencies will also probably have some chaos.
