Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
So my camping buddy bailed on me today. I'll be a first-timer going it alone with 80,000 of my new best friends. I'm not worried about meeting cool people, but wonder if there are others Rooing for one?

Tons of us!
Make sure to stop by (or camp at) Camp Inforoo which is located in Tent Only. Lots of Inforoosters will be there. We also have a lot of meet-ups and other things (Brunch on Friday Morning) you should check out. Once you start meeting other inforoosters you'll find friends at every set you attend.
Hey, yeah my 3rd year in a row going solo, but you're never alone on the farm!! It's the absolute best being alone for many reasons. You'll have your own freedom to do whatever you want!
I usually camp in tent only, and try to get as close to camp inforoo as possible! Try to make friends with your neighbors!!
This will also be my first solo. I know some people going but they are volunteering so can't camp with them. Kinda weird as it's my 6th year and usually my group gets bigger every year but now no one this year.

My first year, I had some friends who volunteered too. They actually ended up camping in tent only so I could've camped with them.
Volunteers don't have to camp in the staff pod. We had to camp there until after the pod one "quarantine" was lifted then we were allowed to move--lots of the vols moved to tent only Thursday morning.

I made friends with people on the boards. My 2nd year I went solo and met up with some chicks from michigan (struggs_mcdruggs!!!) and we camped together. They went and did their own thing, and I met up with other people I friended over inforoo and was hardly alone. It was amazing and exactly what I planning on doing again this year. If you wanna catch a show, let me know
I always end up missing acts I want to see to stick with friends. So this year will be my first to see everything I want to see. Kind of nice.
I left MMJ to see Slayer with my friends last year. Biggest regret I've had in a long time, slayer was fun, but this was my first MMJ experience and I loved every second of what MMJ was delivering. I remember when I joined these boards about 4 or 5 years ago on another name, and I saw someone said one of the rules of Bonnaroo is to never miss an MMJ show and I didnt follow it last year. Going alone is gonna be dope for you!
Yeah, other than the long trip by myself I almost prefer going alone.
I'm going with the others who have all been before this year and all of them were pretty independent in previous Roos so I don't really have any concerns. Taking them into taking a trek to Tent Only was a like awkward but we're all on the same page.
Now I just have to get them all to buy into my policy of not listening to Roo artists on the trip down...

what?
After several travel fiascoes in the nineties on the way to shows and festivals I enacted a rule against voluntarily listening to artists on the day of a show or on the way to a festival. My experiences have improved since then.
There is also the secondary bonus of not having more polished and studio versions of songs fresh in your head before hearing them live, giving the music a bit more room to breath. You also have lowered expectations for hearing a particular song because you weren't just reminded of it.
It's a rule that has worked for me for a couple of decades but I understand that it's not something that works for everyone.

"travel fiascoes in the nineties" lol ok. I get it. Just had to tease you first! I know other people like this. You're not alone.

I am the same way. On the way home, completely different story.
I'm sorta the opposite--on the way down I have my tunes cranked (but also don't listen to any roo artists), but on the way home I play NOTHING-just relishing the sounds of silence. Sometimes I run my car window up and down to listen to the change in the sounds the air makes...and I like the way my tires sing when I cross certain bridges and change back and forth from concrete to asphalt pavement...

I usually have had a twelve to eighteen hour drive, frequently solo. That much silence would end up with me very soundly asleep at the wheel and, ultimately, probably dead.
