This ultra conservative state always tries its best to screw things up. The new county attorney isn't willing to make deals on minor infractions. If you're arrested you'll have to come to court, maybe months later.

Regardless of how draconian and misguided the state's drug laws may be, is there any legitimate reason why Bonnaroo attendees should be given preferential treatment? Shouldn't festival attendees be held to the same standards as any other person?

It's not much different than getting a traffic ticket and sending in a payment for a fine. You're admitting guilt for a minor infraction and not being required to appear in court. Granted, the charges were often dropped when the fine was paid. Is it fair? I'm not sure it is. I'd guess there were people who paid the fine who would have been found innocent had they appeared in court so it can be unfair to both locals and festival goers from out of the area.
By the way, locals are also given the option of paying the same fine. It's not preferential treatment. We simply have an easier time fighting the charges in court because we're already here. The article doesn't address that.
My reason for posting this article was to give people a heads up to be careful coming into and leaving the grounds. Almost all of you are good people wanting to have a good time and will cause no harm to anyone. I don't want to see anyone caught up in BS that can affect you the rest of your lives.
