I'm a little baffled by this just because she's not much different than the other big "alt-pop" singers out there right now (i.e. Tove Lo, MØ, etc) but all the power to her. Kind of hoping she stays away from Roo though, just so she doesn't take up a high lineup slot
Isn't there a theatre attached to MSG? Is that what she sold out? Not the arena.
When she announced the show I figured it was the Theater at first but realized I was wrong. I guess it was a smart booking!
I'd never heard of this person, but her album was top 10 in 9 countries.
I meant quality in terms of quantity. Sounds like a really watered down Lorde and Ellie Goulding.
You're definitely not wrong about her sound, but I thought that Badlands had some great moments scattered throughout the album. Some of the songs do rub me the wrong way and I can't exactly put my finger on what it is that I dislike about them, but the ones that I like are pretty great IMO.

Ahh, yes, Halsey. She was at ACL this year. She sings the song about being raised on Biggie and Nirvana and blowin' marijuana. Also has a verse about same-sex marriage. I thought it was cliché, but can see its appeal to millenials.

My friends love this song, this is one of my least favorites from the album though, it's so corny. I do really like "Control" and "Gasoline" though.
That is not necessarily true. I really don't like like a handful of the songs on here (especially 2-4) But, for the most part, from Belly of the Beat on is decent with a few real good tracks
And shit like this is why I do appreciate Juggs' new theory.
People born after 1993 shouldn't be allowed to have opinions.
Fuck off, I actually agree with Juggs on most topics and I've actually started enjoying her new album more with a few more listens while I drove around in the car. I still don't really dig those 2-4 songs, but a couple of the later tracks are great. I still like Visions way more though
New Edward Sharpe album early next year, I could see them coming back.
Blah, without Jade it's just a waste of a good lineup spot. Hopefully we don't get both them and the Lumineers, I can deal with one.
yeah I feel the same. Id rather fill those slots with Father John Misty, Ryan Adams, Jason Isbell, even prefer of monsters and men over lumineers and Edward sharpe. Although Edward Sharpe's 2013 show was one of the best shows.

Yeah I would have loved to see Edward Sharpe while Jade was with them, but their Boston Calling show in 2014, right around the time that she left, was really disappointing.
Would love any of the three you mentioned, throw in Glen Hansard and The Tallest Man On Earth for good measure.
OMAM have always been a good live act and their new album and current show feels more inspired by darker indie rock acts like The National than the folk stuff. I'd be excited for them on the farm next year
OMAM is definitely the cream of the banjo-suspender crop.
I know you're referring to the "indie-folk" genre, but I'll just point out OMAM don't use the banjo. That being said, I would pick them over Edward Sharpe and The Lumineers if I had to choose among those three.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
Anyone else banking on Father John Misty to be here after being confirmed for Gov's?
I assumed he would be anyways just because it seems strange for Roo to completely miss him on this cycle, but the Gov's Ball confirm pretty much seals the deal. Glad he'll be active next summer, would love a Spring tour as well

Saw CHVRCHES in Nashville last month and it was a blast, they even brought out Hayley Williams for a song. I think they would be great on Thursday night. I know Thursday is usually for artists on the rise but I think they deserve a night slot without being given a late-night slot. I'm feeling something like Cherub 2 years ago.

They played Friday in 2014. They wouldn't be a Thursday band 2 years later.

I think they're just a little too big for Thursday, especially after being on Friday last year. I have to imagine they'll be on the Which, but I guess they could close a tent again.

I get it, I just can't imagine them on the Which,it's too big, the magic of their shows is the intimacy.

As others have said, no way they're Thursday.
I see Friday/Saturday closing a tent before headliner.

Yeah, either a tent closer or late-afternoon/early evening on Which (time slot before the Which closer). They closed The Other Tent in 2014.

So with the Hang Out Lineup released today who do you think could be a cross over? I feel Walk the Moon is likely since we missed out on them last year and they exploded in popularity with their new album, and Leon Bridges seems like a lock based on his tour dates. Maybe Miike Snow since they've got a new album coming out soon.
