In my opinion, Pretty Lights just isn't that good anymore. Derek's opiate addiction shows and his set at Hulaween was so bizarre how horrible it was. And this is coming from someone who enjoys his recorded music, has seen him live several times, but I just can't get past how bad he is now.

Hulaween was the 4th or 5th time i've seen him... what exactly is the difference you're talking about? I couldn't tell you a change in quality over time. I can, however, tell you that the only thing that has effected how good a PL show, is the quality/amount of what I consumed.
that pop punk trash doesn't count as a nostalgia act. Honestly, personal opinions aside, it's a great booking and excite alot of 20-30 year olds
I don't feel that strongly about Blink tbh - they'd be fun in the same way that seeing the Killers last summer was fun for me; reminds me of college and blah blah fun young times. But one of my best friends is obsessed with Blink and might choose FF over Roo if they only play FF....that's my primary investment in wanting Roo to get them. But eh. It'll happen as it happens. She can go get her Blink on at a different fest from me if need be.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

I felt he was very detached from the audience -- Derek thanked Bassnectar at one point when he wasn't even billed at the same festival. His improv bit was just sloppy. I can definitely relate in terms of what was or was not consumed during various sets, but I've just noticed a steady decline in his efforts to understand the crowd he's playing for.

Ah, see, I can't relate, cause I don't need anybody with such an illogical obsession about a mediocre group so I'dcut them outta my life, simple as that

Saw him for the 4th time at the Superjam this year. Something was just very off about him at that set. He wasn't very involved with everyone, and didn't seem to contribute very much. Those 15 minutes by himself were also very weird and out of place. He probably needs to take a break. I'd rather see him come back 2017

If I started cutting people out of my life because of music tastes, all of my friends would be on the internet

Is it even really Blink 182 anymore? When I saw them on there yesterday I thought Holy shit! That's awesome! But then moments later I remembered Tom was out, and off ranting about aliens somewhere.

well, aside from it being a joke, I really do avoid people with bad taste in music. I don't just mean people with different taste than my own. People can like different stuff and I could still say they have good taste, but those with out right terrible taste, I just can't take it.
Just last night, I was hanging out with this girl I had been talking to for a couple weeks and I was really starting to like her... and then she said she didn't like the Beastie Boys. I was shocked and confused, but hey, I can let one slide and then, 30 seconds later, she talked about she doesn't understand why people hate Nickleback... That was it for me. I politely waited out the rest of the night and I now know I should no longer waste time on that endeavor.

Alright, but there's Blink....and then there's Nickelback.
That's like comparing a slightly overripe banana, that's still eatable and enjoyable to some people, to a disgusting rotting turd of what was once a banana before descending into black mold.

Isn't this like the third time you've told this story? Maybe I'm confusing you for someone else. I'm too lazy to check on my phone right now. But I swear I've seen that "I was talking to a girl, she said something kinda dumb so I was like nope" a couple times now. I mean one of my girlfriends for a while had 0 taste in music. But she was still hella cool. Way cooler actually than a lot of girls that do like the same music as me.
Edit: though there was that one time I almost threw her out of my car because she wouldn't stop bashing Kanye

I mean you've told pretty much that story at least three times.

I don't think music taste should be the primary thing behind hanging out with someone. My GF and I are lucky to share a lot of the same favorite artists, but we disagree quite a bit. Yeah, having similar tastes makes for great conversation and great fun, since it'd be easier to go to a show with that person, but the end-all, be-all?

not saying it is my absolute judge of character, but I use it as my typical indicator of whether or not I'll enjoy someone's company because it's usually quite accurate.

But now you're missing out on the opportunity to turn her onto a ton of great music. That is literally one of my favorite things to do.

Agreed. My GF now enjoys Local Natives, D'Angelo, Tycho, Disclosure, Nicolas Jaar, Bonobo, ODESZA, Duke Dumont, and others because I introduced them to her.

That was my initial thought after she said she doesn't like Beastie Boys but then she said she likes Nickleback and I instantly gave up hope

I was at a bar hitting up this hot babe the other day, then she tells me she like Nickelback and the show Friends so naturally her body is currently floating downstream
