I don't know much of Wolfmother but i definitively want the rest of these. Can't get my mind off realllllly wanting M83 after seeing them on Hangout's lineup.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Duuuuude I can't stop thinking about an M83 late night tent set. Would be so beautiful.
Check out this video from Wolfmother at Bonnaroo in 2007.
Big Boi live on facebook just said that Big Grams is playing every major music festival this year!!
was there ever any doubt?
Not really, but I like the confirmation. Also means that if there are conflicts at any of the three-four fests I go to, I will have another chance to catch them.

My dad is a realtor and also super social/friendly guy, so he often bonds with his clients and what not. About a year and a half ago, he casually mentions he's working with Sam Beam - tells me this months into them being all buddy buddy. Then recently he worked (or spent time with in some business context) with one of the guys from Bon Iver who is also J. Vernon's lifetime best friend. Tonight I come home and he tells me about the BBQ he had with Joe from the Avett Bros over the weekend and all the great chats they had. Whatever Pops - I get it that you're more popular than me, but stop hanging with all the people I want to be friends with.
This is relevant to this thread though because apparently Joe mentioned they're almost certainly playing Roo this year. Not that this should come as a surprise, but still - semi confirmation.
Also, Joe told my dad that he prefers Firefly over Roo. Wtf. Banish them for that kind of blasphemous talk.

I don't mind them being there at all. Stoked actually. I know they'll be billed high and take up a space most would rather have been given to someone who's not there every 2 years. I've only seen them a couple of times and they're still very exciting for me. (I don't get to see too much live music..)

I'm conflicted about The Avett Brothers playing again in 2016. I'm admittedly pretty big fan of their music, and both times I've seen them they've put on a very enjoyable performance. At the same time, I feel like this every other year schtick has run its course. They're going to take up a big spot (top 10) on the lineup, and there are numerous other acts to choose from who either: a) haven't played Bonnaroo in a long time , or b) have never played Bonnaroo. Also, their last album was extremely underwhelming, and their studio output has provided diminishing returns since I and Love and You.
Which time slot would they get if they played? They've already played the Main Stage twice, but they haven't gotten much bigger since they last played, so I'm thinking Which closer at this point.

Looks like Sigur Rós is out sadly. They tweeted about hitting up a ton of festivals but they are all in Europe. To be fair they don't start until June 16th, but unless they are in Coachella's lineup or something in the US I would say they are out. Excited about how they are gonna work on the new album though!
I'll take the over on that. I can't see them being billed above someone like Ellie Goulding, who I expect to be top 5.
Then again, this is Bonnaroo we're talking about.
Well, they were 6th in 2014. They haven't gotten any smaller. They've headlined smaller fests in the past year, so I'd be stunned if they were any lower than 5th.
Ellie Goulding could easily be 4th.
True, but you could also make the case that Bonnaroo overbilled them in 2014. They were 13th at ACL in 2014 after being billed 7th in 2012. And they're currently billed 5th at Okeechobee, behind Bassnectar, who was billed 8th at Bonnaroo this year. Ellie could very well be top 4 with an expensive top 3, but I wouldn't expect her to be billed higher at Bonnaroo than at Hangout or Firefly.

Avetts were billed 15th at Osheaga this past year, maybe they just aren't that popular in Canada though... They also played smaller venues all last summer, saw them at Stone Pony which only holds 5-6000. Maybe they are more popular in the south than anywhere else and would get a high billing st Roo though?
I think Avett Brothers in the top 5 has a lot more to do with what Bonnaroo thinks of them and less so what the real world things of them. I think 5 is aggressive though.
Speaking of which, Ellie Goulding SHOULD be top 5, but I'm sure she'll be 12th or something.

I still think it's pretty hilarious that Bonnaroo booked The Strokes 11th in 2011, when they were pretty much headlining every other festival they played.

I think if they have a high billing at Bonnaroo, its more in the respect of them playing the fest so many times than popularity boost.
You guys nailed it. Avett would never get moved down. Remember when we thought that MMJ was going to get demoted in the lineup in 2015, with a shorter time slot??? Some joker here even suggested that they would have to sub for Mumford and Sons! Lolright? Bonnaroo loves the Jacket - they'd never do them dirty like that.

I find it funny that Beck hasn't played Bonnaroo since 2006 and the Avett Brothers have played every other year since 2006. Like that year the promoters got together and decided there can only be one.

Am I missing something? I thought MMJ was 6th the last two times they played, and in basically the same schedule spot.

Same timeslot but technically down 1 on the poster. My point was that most people (myself included) thought that they'd get a bump up on the new album, of Bonnaroo of all places.
I can't speak for the current profile of the Avetts, but they've played lower at places like ACL which is pretty fertile Avetts territory. I don't think Roo is in the business of giving anyone a regional bump anymore. I see Avetts as a 7th or 8th down act.
