I just did a search and that is pretty much new news, and there was no announcement or clues that they were getting back together. I don't feel so much like I was losing my mind now.

I live in Columbus and the Rock on the Range lineups always feel like a giant cluster. RHCP as the main headliner is kind of surprising. And it's 3 nights this year too so the line up layout is pretty interesting as well. POD is hidden in that lineup, that's funny.

does anyone have the scoop if at the drive in is having a one off reunion or a tour? i don't want to have to go to rock on the range if i don't have to
When they got back together in 2012 they very openly said it was for the money and for the most part just played festivals that could pay top dollar. I would expect more of the same.

agreed. i'm going to go ahead & say that for anyone stoked for the reunion shows, the 2012 shows were pretty underwhelming compared to the old energetic shows ATDI was known for. i wouldn't complain if roo got them, & would probably wait long enough to get a decent spot, but i also wouldn't be too disappointed either.

Man, you just made me really sad about a band I was really looking forward to get a chance to see.

so so sorry to be the bearer of bad news but just watch the coachella 2012 video. cedric totally brings it but omar stands on the stage like he's frozen in carbonite & even said in interviews how much he didn't give a shit about the reunion shows because he, "wasn't the same person he is now" in ATDI.

his mom had just died. I'd cut him a little slack. maybe playing with antemasque got him back into that atdi vibe.

shit i didn't know that & now feel like a tool. but yeah the antemasque shows were more like the old ATDI shows & could be a good thing for the upcoming ATDI shows!!

And at this point it's not even top dollar, so I'm assuming the effort level put into the shows will be commensurate.
Worth mentioning that Download that weekend in the UK might have made them a decent offer.

So conflicted. On one hand, ATDI is an all time favorite for me. In theory ATDI playing Bonnaroo would be orgasmic. But after seeing the videos of them in 2012 it just didn't sound good (not like they were known for being tight) but it was exceptionally bad. Although Omar's mom had just died so apparently that's why he wasn't too into it. Maybe it'll be better in 2016? Fuck it, book them anyways
I'd also like to say At the Drive In would be fantastic. But yeah I'd be worried about them doing Download and other European festivals during Bonnaroo

A little late in the game, I know, but on the Avett Brothers. They're great, and I've been a fan for a while now. After seeing them progress over the years, their sound has turned gaudy if you will. Same show, different night, same drunken crowds with cell phones everywhere you look. They're forced to increase their sound which results in a distorted roar thats needed to drown out their drunken rambling fans who are too obsessed with themselves and the scene, and could give two f*cks about the music. Perhaps the past few times I've seen them have just been bad experiences, but at one point I would've loved to have seen The Avetts climbing up the lineup... But they're going nowhere quick for me. Negative Nancy over here I know... wah wahh

I caught their very first reunion show in Austin leading up to the Coach run. I thought the show was fucking awesome. Yes, Omar's stage presence was nonexistent, but as mentioned before, his Mom just died before that tour.
That was also during a really rough part for The Mars Volta, just before the breakup I believe? So things weren't too great there personally either.
Since then, they've been playing in Antemasque and having fun again. I think the upcoming ATDI shows will be a good time and hope 'roo gets them. Should be a renewed energy there.
Haven't thought about these guys in a damn long time. The only time I saw them they were really good live. Highly doubt this would ever happen at roo though...

I love Glassjaw. I saw them a couple years ago and they were great.
Wet have a new album coming in January and announced a Northeast/Pacific Northwest tour for January and February. That's not indicative of anything pertaining to this or any festival but it would be cool to see them at Bonnaroo.
