Where would you all put the postal service album if it were part of DCFC's catalogue?
Love that album a lot. I think for me:
Narrow Stairs Plans Give Up (Postal Service) - close 2nd/3rd with Plans, though Transatlanticism
{And then I honestly haven't listened to their first 3 albums much in entirety, so I'm not sure where I'd place them. Gonna actually make that a goal for this week - listen to those 3 start to finish and see how I feel about them; it's been a while.}
Kintsungi Codes and Keys
Those are definitely last - but again, there are some great tracks on both them, for sure. But as cohesive albums, not outstanding.
Plans had some great songs- Marching Bands of Manhattan, Someday You Will Be Loved, Crooked Teeth, What Sarah Said (when you really just want your heart ripped out), & Brothers On a Hotel Bed. I think Narrow Stairs is their best album and I can't skip a song when I listen to it. My favorites here would be Bixby Canyon Bridge, I Will Possess Your Heart, No Sunlight, Cath..., Grapevine Fires, Long Division, Your New Twin Sized Bed, & The Ice Is Getting Thinner. (Again, my favorite album so my favorites are most of the album.. lol) Also, I even like a handful of songs from the most recent albums, even though overall they are nothing in comparison to the rest of their discography. Codes & Keys gave us Unobstructed Views, Monday Morning, and Underneath the Sycamore, and from Kintsugi I loved the singles (Black Sun, The Ghosts of Beverly Drive), and You've Haunted Me All My Life (this one gives me all the chills).
Get out of my head haha - those 8 tracks on Narrow Stairs are what determine its #1 status for me. Though I tend to not skip any songs on it, either. And then, those are the tracks from the two most recent albums I like best, too. Coinciding tastes much?
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
The undercard get that I want more than anything might be Floating Points. Only one US date this year (Moogfest) and they're in the UK on Sat/Sun, so it's really only a Thursday possiblity. A man can dream.
It's best to watch this whole thing, but jump to 9:00 if you need to be sold.

EDIT: Why does that link back to inforoo instead of soundcloud? I know I put the right link in....so weird
I'll have to give that Tycho remix a listen! I'm really excited for you to see DCFC for the first time haha, it will be a magical experience. Their setlists usually have a good range of songs across the albums as well. Here is the setlist from when I saw them back in September. Damn near perfect IMO!

All the way to the top! Loved every song on that album. Transatlanticism is a good record too but has couple of songs I thought didn't fit the album very well.
Their catalog offers quite a few great songs but not any great albums. IMO
I agree with this and I think it's part of why I never really got into death cab. Much like how I feel about the dead weather and songs written by John Mayer - I wish they were doing something else with their talent.

Yeah that set list is pretty amazing. I would prefer a bit less of stuff from their past two albums, but they also take a lot from Narrow Stairs which is perfect for me. Yay, very excited...worried they'll be up against something else I'd really love to see though.

All this talk about Death Cab and not a single mention of The Photo Album. Not their best record but certainly up there for me. I can't be the only one!

You are definitely not alone, it is one of my favorites for sure. A Movie Script Ending, Information Travels Faster, We Laugh Indoors, I Was A Kaleidoscope, Styrofoam Plates... some real gems in there

Transatlanticism Give Up
Everything else Ben Gibbard has done in some order depending on weather/mood.
In fairness, I think it's all worth a listen but those two stand miles apart from the rest. How both those albums came out in 2003 is still beyond me; truly remarkable.
I think it's about time for Iron & Wine to return to the farm. They haven't been there since 2011 and would fit right in with the folk/bluegrass theme we've been seeing on Sundays.

Sam Beam's last album of new original material was released in 2013. That would be a late booking even by Bonnaroo's reputation. Maybe he will release something new this year. Iron & Wine conflicting with Gregg Allman on Sunday ended up being one of my biggest conflicts at Bonnaroo 2011. Both Kiss Each Other Clean and Low Country Blues were favorite albums of mine from that year. I ended up at Gregg. Man, that was a good set.

This is a huge problem and explains why you didn't list them. We have the facts and are voting yes is by far one of their best albums. Start to finish it tells a story and is amazing.

I almost wept.
I'm almost positive Sam is working on a new album - my dad worked with him for a while (in real estate, not on his music sadly haha) and I asked him semi recently for an update on Sam's music stuff. He said he was going to be touring somewhat soon but I don't think much in the east coast. Sam and his fam were living in the triangle area of NC for a while but they've moved back to Texas now :/

Damn, with Beck and Avett Brothers likely out it seems like the pool of acts that play acoustic guitats and occasionally wear fedoras continues to narrow. Who's going to play before Dead & Company on Sunday? Wilco?

The Lumineers, I see.
Ugh. Does this make Of Monsters and Men less likely? I would prefer them so vastly over the Lumineers

The Lumineers aren't that bad. Way better than Of Monsters and Men tbh.
I agree with this. I don't think they are amazing by any means but they get a lot of hate on the boards for no real reason. They make pretty harmless, catchy pop songs.
Although do they have anything new since the album 3 years ago?

The Lumineers have a song called Morning Song that I really like. He has a good voice, but they only have one album. I wonder if they have new music coming. Verrry interesting lol.
