UM is most certainly due, especially after getting stuck playing 75 mins at 2pm last time they were on the farm (even though that set was still awesome). The 2012 sunrise rager is one of my favorite sets to listen to!

Like I said this SHOULD be a late night, but I'd also be ok with a pre-headline on the What with a 2 hour set like MMJ.
Umph's 8-10, Phish 11-2 would be a perfect night.
You're delusional if you think Bonnaroo would give Umphrey's McGee a 2-hour pre-HL set on the main stage in 2016.
Pre-HL Tent or LN Tent would be most likely in my opinion. I can't see them pre-HL What or Which and I would assume they wouldn't get stuck in the afternoon on a stage again in 2016

its a wonderful idea but will never happen. those pre-HL What stage slots are always given to the bigger names.
And if Phish plays again I think they'll always be in a Sunday closing slot. 2009 was a very unique year for Phish, and without a doubt was the highest demand for Phish we will ever see. It made sense to pay them to play twice. I wasn't at Bonnaroo in 2009 but I'm betting quite a few Phish fans were there.
I really enjoyed the 2012 set. Yeah its just a festival set, nothing amazing is going to happen, but its still my favorite fucking band playing all these songs, and I get to look forward to the set all weekend.

I'm down with that, it just doesn't sit right with me that they would put a "special" show on a Friday in the middle of a new years run. The voted on set list sounds fun, but you know at the end of the day it won't have much flow if they're talking in between songs. I got some buddies that are under 21 that are going. I'm 21 and I can't justify the price tag, dunno how you could if you can't even get in on the open bar. It's a cool idea, and I don't think it's a cash grab by any means, it's just not really up my alley. I'm sure I could finally see a Q*Bert or something I would flip out on, but it's not worth the price to me. If this was a normal BG type event like the one they did at the 1 Up 2 years ago I'd be all over it (I still kick myself for not making it to that one, my buddy had a ticket for me two days before but I was already fine with seeing Yonder instead and decided to save the money). Can you imagine if they did an all improv set instead like Tribe did last year? That appeals way more to me than what it is. Different strokes though, I'm sure it'll be an absolute blast. Watch it be another thing like BG 2 years ago that I regret missing really badly.
Regardless, gonna be a great time. I've been doing UM new years since 2011 and last time in Denver was absolutely party time from that awesome triple wide first night to the bad friday debut on the 31st.

So glad that I went to see Danny Brown in 2013 instead. Stage shows during the day are brutal. I ended up catching Umph at a local show afterwards and it was a blast. They deserve a LN tent for sure

glad you enjoyed the show you chose but that What stage set was awesome. was cool to see them hold down the main stage, even in the heat of the day.

Ya, definitely wasn't the LN party, but their What set was fun. Was in the pit for that one.

I told myself when they released the schedule I'd be in the pit, but actual circumstances changed things. I was day parking as usual, and traffic was moving really really slow, much slower than in the past. I thought I'd given myself plenty of time from leaving Murfreesboro to getting to the What field, but traffic started right off the interstate, and by the time I'd slowly crawled to the winery, I panicked and paid the $5 to park there and hoofed it the rest of the way in down bushy branch. By the time I got to the What I was so exhausted I just collapsed into a seat on The Hill (I had VIP but no parking pass). Just barely made it in time.
The real adventure was walking down bushy branch back to my car at 3am that night. I'll never do that again.

Ln 2012 was my first UM show ever. I want a repeat so bad. I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I walked into this tent that night. I agree with rothric and postjack though that the what stage show was killer. The pit was rockin for that show. \mm/

That was me back in'04. Heard they were great, when to the LN and they were fire. They did a set break switch (like they did in '12 with big g) with moe. who did a 40ish minute set that included a few matallica covers.
06 late night set was pretty great too with Umphrey's back to back with Disco Biscuits. I would love to have some late-night umphreys
