On the Reverb volunteer team for MSG on 10/31 and the Worcester show! Supposedly I'll be allowed to just walk down the the GA pit for the show. Can't wait!

I'm really excited for this. Was bummed that I missed Lockn because of all the Dead members playing, and Robert Plant...the Greensboro show will make up for most of that.

Have any of you done the Reverb volunteer team before. The website says, "The working pass you receive if selected to volunteer will allow you to move about the venue concourse as you please, however, you will not have an assigned seat and there is no guarantee that you will see the show. You will be able to hear the music from the concourse." That worries me.

Yeah this is different from any other tour they've worked on. My past experience with them is that they had seats or GA lawn/pit tickets for each volunteer. I wouldn't be surprised if they let the volunteers wander into the GA pit when the show begins. They did specifically change their page to add the part about hearing the show from the concourse so that's kinda a bummer
My boyfriend just won tickets to that show. Now figuring out if we are even able to get to NYC and attend.
I was about to say that if you couldn't make it, I'd offer to take them off your hands, but I decided I should check my email just to be sure I didn't win them and voila! This is on my dad's birthday and he's a big deadhead so I'm hoping I can find a way to get him to the city.

I found us cheap plane tickets, and I have people who I could totally hit up to crash at their places. I have never been to NYC before and my boss has given me the time off if I want. There is just so much going on already and I just don't know if we can pull it off, especially with Thanksgiving and Christmas right around the corner.

Well I hope you'll be able to make it! This will be my first Dead experience, so I'm fairly pretty excited. Even if the band is far from fantastic these days, Mayer will bring something interesting to the table and I can't imagine it won't be a fun show.

I've been keeping an eye on Stubhub for the DC show. I'd like to see this, but for nowhere near the prices they were asking. And low and behold, the secondary market is starting to tank. Decent upper deck seats going for $10, by next week the lower bowl will probably be going for $20.
Do you guys think they'd add an Xmas Jam date, or is it too late?
I would be surprised, Christmas is only two months out. It's pretty odd schedule at the end, taking a month off before they play the four California shows...tour will already be on the west coast.
Would love to hear thoughts from anyone who's been to the shows!
Found this on youtube, the music sounds great. Voices are serviceable, Mayer's voice is a bit too clean and pretty for this stuff, but his guitar playing is fantastic and there are some solid jams. Really looking forward to the show on Saturday.

I think moten33 wrote a brief review in the hangout thread for a show in upstate NY.
Oh wow. I didn't know this thread existed. Here is the brief writeup with a little added. I listened to the whole 11/1 show and the end of the 10/31 show via live stream. Heading to Philly Thursday and Buffalo next week. Maybe hitting the 11/7 MSG show as well.
Just getting home from night 1 of Dead and Company in Albany. What a great time. We were pretty much on the rail. Mayer was much better than I had imagined he would fit. The first set, Bobby was directing everyone. Hand gestures, head nods, walking over and talking to Mayer, exaggerated playing so the others knew what he was doing. First set was good. The place was packed and was sure someone was going to die in the tiny smoking area for 15k Deadheads. The band came out of intermission as a new band. Tight, loose, jammy, structured, all just gelling with each other. No more Bobby as sole leader, they came out and just played. Mayer, Otiel and Chimenti all took turns leading parts of songs and it was awesome. I was pretty blown away by the second set. Two biggest negatives: 1.) Chimenti was way too low in the mix for most of the show. Same could be said for Otiel. 2.) Mayer lip syncing all his guitar parts. I have no idea why but this drove me crazy. Mayer is not Trey and that can be a good thing. Mayer put his own spin on a lot of the soloing but also stayed closer to 'traditional" Dead than some of his past covers of Dead tunes. It was a good performance and a great show. The crowd was hyped. Th lots were kind of weird as there were a ton of small downtown lots and not a very collective experience but Shakedown was pretty good. People were talking about the show all night and the after-party with members of Max Creek and Beau Sasser's Escape plan was a blast. I'm hitting Philly next week and Buffalo the week after that and am super excited to see where this goes as just in the first night they showed a transformation from some guys playing Dead tunes with the core three to the new faces of the Dead.
Jeff and Otiel also sounded much better in the mix during the NYC shows. That Chimenti piano run over the reggae type playing towards the end of Cassidy was great.

If it had "Sugar Magnolia" and "China Cat" then it'd have my top 10 Dead songs
Just found out my new job doesn't start for an extra week so I will be able to do it up right in Buffalo and now may try to hit Worcester too!
If you see a Reverb booth at the shows do me a solid and ask if they have been able to get in and see the shows once they are done volunteering. I'm volunteering with them and there's not a lot of info out there. Kevbot from these boards got me into it and was supposed to report back after he did it at MSG, but he's gone AWOL.

Will do. I heard someone talking about it in Albany but I never saw the booth and didn't want to jump in the guy's conversation. I will hunt it out tomorrow in Philly.
