I used to love Joy Division (and still do) but mainly know the US singles for New Order. If someone wanted to tackle the New Order discography, what's the best place to start?

Power, Corruption, and Lies is widely considered their best album

Disc One of Substance. It's a singles collection but it's my most listened to New Order records, really one of my most listened to records period.

I appreciate it - I will make it my second. I am surprised I haven't listened to more of their albums before now. It's a great band.
They're fucking amazing live. Cap'n Mac & I saw them in December at Day for Night, then we saw them again earlier this month at the Opera House with a full orchestra. Both times were insanely good.
As far as discography: Power, Corruption & Lies Brotherhood Get Ready Music Complete
In order are the ones I've spent the most time with. Outside of those I've just randomly heard other songs off various albums. Music Complete is their newest album (2015) and even it still has some really fantastic songs on there. Tutti Frutti gets stuck in my head like no other and keeps me dancing.
If Roo could pull off getting New Order next year I'd be impressed. I think that ship has sailed for them though, partly bc I don't think they could HL, but would expect to HL. Therefore making coming to an agreement on booking near impossible. It'd be amazing tho.
Roger Waters * Arcade Fire * EDM/ Hip Hop * New Order would look real nice.

I think it's more of an issue of whether or not there would be enough interest on both sides. They played Coachella, Lolla, and Osheaga a few years ago. They were billed 5th on their day at Coachella, 8th at Lolla, and 5th at Osheaga, so I doubt they would expect a headlining slot. I think they would be a good fit as Which closer or (ideally) LN Which. Either way, I fully sport this, and I'm disappointed it didn't happen in 2016.

You're right, maybe they wouldn't expect a HL spot. I guess I say that only Bc the fests they've seemed to play lately have all been smaller where they've been billed as #1s. I say this with no research and based on personal experience. Lol.
New Order LN would be absolutely insane. I 110% support that. But I feel like they're too big for Which. Or maybe I just like them so much that I'm overestimating their fan base? I'm clearly very biased which makes it hard to gauge outside interest.
Edit: actually, with Bonnaroo's crowd, I think you're right. They'd be on which. Which is a shame.

QFT. New Order are still crushing it live, and the new album is one of the best later-career albums I've heard in recent memory.
I would like to think New Order would fill that sort of dancy, punky, alternative HL spot, a la LCD Soundsystem & Radiohead - but I could also see Bonnaroo stupidly trying to squeeze them onto LN Which, which would be such a clusterfuck. Anyone who witnessed the nightmare crowd at NIN in '09 can use their imagination here.

I would love to believe it'd be a clusterfuck, but with what seems to now be Bonnaroo's main demographic, I doubt they'd really draw a huge crowd to the Which. The kids don't even know who New Order is, and the late 20-30s are beginning to outgrow the Roo line up (assuming they continue to book the way they have the past two years).

Yeah, I think New Order would actually be perfect for Which. I feel like the What field would be embarrassingly empty for a New Order set. Like you said, they're not especially well-known among the 18-25 demographic, but they're also just not as big in the U.S. as in Europe.

I have been a big New Order fan for a long time, and every year they are on my Roo wishlist, but I've never even considered they would play anywhere but a tent. Y'all are kind of convincing me they might be Which appropriate, but I've never really considered them popular amongst the Roo demographic.

In terms of crowd size, Bonnaroo could probably get away with putting them in a tent. However, I don't think New Order would accept an offer to play anything smaller than the Which Stage.

Their stage show is way too big for a tent. They're definitely a Which act. I feel like they'd pull a big enough crowd to at least turn a tent spot into a giant clusterfuck. They HL'd Day For Night in Houston, which had an overall attendance of 21k people. Granted, we were super close for New Order's set, so I'm not positive how packed their set was, but even if it was just half, that's still about 10k people. I feel like those numbers (between 10-20k) sound about right for a Which set.
What are tent capacities?
For those interested in what their stage show is like, here is a short video of them at the Opera House earlier this month:
After listening to each album individually, I made a New Order/Joy Division playlist with their entire discography of music and have it on shuffle. It's all I now want to listen to...
I hope July is a slow month for new music... and maybe August, too.
You're just too young to grasp how stylin' I really was. All the boys wanted to do me when I was 5. Actually the girls did too. My haircut was confusing.
