Hey everyone,
We now have a specific sub-forum for what TV shows or movies or whatever it is your watching right now and want to talk about. I've moved a bunch of the TV and movie threads I could find into this section but let me know if I missed any.
We can also have a vote for what to call this section if you want. Doesn't have to be The Cinema Tent. Could be whatever. You guys let us know.
There's also "Labels" when creating a new thread so you can specify whether it's a TV Show or Movie (or we can add more labels for other media formats).
Below is a beautifully written spoiler disclaimer that emoney pointed out to us when discussing this new section:
Here is the spoiler policy from another web forum's TV subforum:
SPOILER RULES: Are you talking about something that's already aired in an episode on the East Coast? Then you don't need spoiler tags. Are you talking about something that you only saw in a preview, or a commercial, or or due to a leaked ANYTHING? Then you need spoiler tags. Casting information is not a spoiler. Unless it obviously IS a spoiler, like a recurring character that was presumed dead or something coming back. Honestly, just use common sense. Netflix shows "air" all at once, so once they go up, there's no need for spoiler tags in that show's thread. You should still use them in other threads that might mention the show for at least a month. Shit like this falls under the "common sense" clause.
Let's have some common sense. Not everything needs to be in spoiler tags. Theories and speculation and stuff that has already aired is fair game. If it hasn't aired yet (or is based on source material) then keep those in spoiler tags.
Subforum is a good idea, and I like keeping the Cinema Tent as the name. Just makes sense.
Not a fan of the spoiler policy though; it pretty much means I won't be visiting any of those threads (not that I visited them much anyway tbh). And I'm not a fan of the red tag either. It's a nifty thing but adds clutter IMO.

Labels are gone. Spoiler tag rule makes sense. I've been spoiled by shit on Facebook and other media sites. It's taught me that if I'm not caught up on a show then I shouldn't be reading stuff about that show. If you aren't caught up and want to avoid spoilers then avoid the threads. It's much more annoying trying to read people's thoughts each week and having to click on each individual post and not knowing if they are spoiling something for real or just talking about something that recently aired.
I'm glad you did this. It's an added bonus that Phi is upset about a certain aspect of it. Keep it up.
Since we're on the subject, I feel like a quality addition to the subforum would be a thread where you and Bishop watch and review all the obscure B-movies that both of you seem to enjoy as I haven't heard of a good portion of what you two watch. You two are the of the film threads.

Did you see where we touched on this in Now Watching a week or so ago, along with EAP ? The end of that mafia game distracted me but I wanted to do some sort of Horror movie thread that explored classics of different sub-genres. I was also thinking that we could do some kind of Inforoo poll for everyone's favorites but I wasn't sure how to go about that last one.

Maybe the b-movie thread could have a weekly suggestion, followed by a review the following week? Not sure how the timing would work but a review and discussion period would be hilarious. A lot of B-movies are easy to find online.
I'd do my first on Slime City because that's one of my favorites that I always pimp on here and I don't remember a single person ever saying they've seen it except Bishop.

Thanks, will add that thread here.
I already removed the thing about the labels after a couple of complaints. It was something new that I was trying but not totally necessary. It put a little colorful "Movie" or "TV Show" or "Podcast" label in front of each thread. You could then (if you wanted) click on it and filter the section so you only see other threads with that label. I wanted to see how it works and see if it would be something worth using around lineup time. Like...we could label certain threads with "Confirmed" or "Denied" or other things along those lines. But I guess I could see how it's annoying on the "Recent Threads" view.

I don't really use recent threads or recent posts but I guess I see why it would be annoying for regulars. But yeah, I do see the value in the experiment. Especially for newer people coming in during lineup time who are having trouble navigating the music lounge. Some type of simple tab/coding system to relay information might cut down on redundant questions
One little thing we could do for band threads around lineup time is ask the OPs to add "confirmed" to the end of the thread title. That's what I did in the Rooclue threads once they were solved, just to save people time. But having the same word in a lot of thread titles would likely drive some people crazy. So maybe an icon or light text shade difference would be less jarring? If that's even possible or worth doing.

But yes, a b-movie thread needs to happen!
That would be amazing. I've never been a big movie watcher, so tons I haven't seen. Something like that would be a great place to start for me.

Ohh, we could bury you in movie suggestions. I'll brag and say I know more about film history then 90% of the board. Which was why I was thinking of a general thread and then a review thread were specific movies are the main topic of conversation for a period of time.
But it doesn't have to be just b-movies. European cinema could easily have it's own, etc.

I'm all for this. I'm not quite as well versed in world cinema, but it's a work in progress.

I have been spoiled by shiz on Facebook and other media sites. It's taught me that if I'm not caught up on a show then I shouldn't be reading stuff about that show. If you aren't caught up and want to avoid spoilers then avoid the threads.
It's much more annoying trying to read people's thoughts each week and having to click on each individual post. And not knowing if they are spoiling something for real or just talking about something that recently aired.
