This reeks of misdirection. It seems likely that both Dragon and Jimmy were town. If they weren't I think we would've seen a larger preservation movement for them other than just Rummy. I figured you'd at least see a couple of people piggyback on her defense. Unless we're in an M79 scenario and they decided to throw the new guy under the bus.
And so the whack is the person who voted for...the person the two in the runoff voted for at some point.
My immediate reaction is probably that SFA was killed because he is experienced and not because he did anything in particular. He barely did anything at all throughout round one. The reason I'm voting for jazz is because I just get a bad vibe from him the way that he handled himself in around one and how he stacked me up even though what I was saying I think was really reasonable.
Yeah I knew someone was gonna mention that - but in R1, generally all we have to go off of is our gut feeling (except Inspector and Mafia naturaly who have more info than the town). Sometimes it is accurate/on the right track and other times not at all. I said that I do realize he could be Mafia and acting like this; as of right now, though, my gut feeling is that that isn't the case. I am choosing to go with that as my leading decision making factor, rather than the fact that switiching my vote to place someone else in the run off instead of him might look suspect to others.
There's still 12 hours left in the round. If others feel he should be in there, you're of course welcome to act on that yourself.
We had a simular talk in Round 1 two games back about a first time player acting weird. I was the one defending them that time but I did leave my vote on them. So I'm not so sure you should have moved yours just yet. Having said, you would think his mafia buddies would have had time to calm him down by now. At least Monie had a clear goal with her move, that doesn't seem the be the case here.
Dragon is by far the main person that deserved his place in this runoff. Not so sure he should be let out. But I'm not voting along with JFG. If I've learned anything since I've been playing again it's that JFG votes for an innocent person and sticks with it in round 1.
Hey now, there was one game I had a Mafia with my d1r1 vote and later that day switched to the inspector for the deciding vote to lynch. Not my proudest moment in the game, and one of the few times I've switched a d1 vote unless it gets wiped in a run off.
Ha. Not in the games I'm thinking of. Either way, besides joking around, the real point is I have nothing that strong to go off of, so switching is just as likely to help the mafia as staying. Plus switching votes without some plausible reason has the added bonus of dragging my name into the dirt and taking focus off searching for actual mafia.
I opted to switch my vote simply to mix things up and create movement.
I personally would not trust Rummy one bit. Why defend me if you're town? I've been unhelpful thus far, and am new at this. To the town, I am either mafia or a doofus, which hurts you one way or the other. I would be an easy candidate for the mafia to let play, continue to try to clear in the eyes of the town, and in turn distract the town from trying to figure out the actual mafia.
Also, SFA not changing the vote to me, despite stating that I'm the main person that deserved his place in the runoff, is mighty fishy, given the flimsy reasoning. I'm not quite sure what to make of this yet, as it sort of contradicts my statement above, but that's definitely something to keep in mind. It seems a little like trying to bring attention to me, without actually having me get voted off (which, as previously stated, would not benefit the mafia).
What? I brought you up because, as the person about to be dropped from the runoff, you were the topic of conversation. What flimsy reasoning? That I didn't feel I had the info to make a solid decision and so kept my vote were it was? I'm not one to change my vote around in the first round unless something really sticks out to me.
And by deserved his place in the runoff, I meant had made weird moves and stuck out to people. That usually gets you negative attention but it necessarily doesn't make you mafia,
Jimmy isn't the one that's calling me suspicious for playing like I always do. Besides that I don't really see one as being more suspicious then the other.
I agree with Slack and Jimmy's assessment that this whack may have been for misdirection or because SFA is a vet. SFA both indicated that he thought Dragon should have been in the runoff, but also said several things indicating that he doesn't necessarily think Dragon was Mafia. The Mafia's aim should always (IMO) be to kill the inspector, so resorting to just whacking a vet makes me think that last round not much was said about our current group of Mafia. I think this warrants some new faces in the runoff, but since we've got the weekend I'd like to hear what some other people think before voting.
Another possibility is that the Mafia was worried about the things SFA did say about Dragon, but regardless Dragon is dead so that doesn't help us much now.

Carini>>>JFG
If it wasn't misdirection this could be the cause of the whack.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Agreed on the new faces aspect, and like Carini mentioned, Jfg was mentioned by SFA.
I'll be able to check in later this afternoon on my flight, hopefully. But after that, I'll be MIA for the rest of the weekend. Tool and Primus be calling. I'll be sure and check back in Sunday on my flight back.
carini12, you cited one of SFA's posts as potentially pointing towards me.
Two questions:
1. Did you read his next post? He said he was staying on his vote as 'switching is just as likely to help Mafia than staying'. He stayed on that vote until it was wiped. Him staying on that vote was my take away from SFA.
2. Does this means you suspect he was inspector, and so giving a bare mention of my name lends weight due to your perception of his role? Or do you think he was just some unlucky town who used my name in passing and Mafia are jumping on it?
If Mafia isn't sure on the Inspector, it behooves them to go for a vet or a player who's posts they can twist after the player is dead and can't clarify. In SFA's case it looks like they got at least the latter two reasons with one whack. You've played this game a lot though - you know that.

1. I read the next one. He had no need to bring up your name at all. He could have said he didn't want to switch because it might help mafia.
2. You have played same length I have as in long enough to know mafia's main goal is to kill the inspector asap. Yes if mafia isn't sure they will often go after a vet like SFA or Mike D but I have to think he did or said something to get on their radar.
the person sfa mentioned the most was dragon. he's dead, so nothing to be done there.
when i think about it as dragon being mafia, i am going to look at the people who voted for jimmy.
that's leaves jaz, rothric, and taint. i don't feel comfortable stacking at this point, so:
eap>>>rothric***
could easily be interchanged with taint
Why don't you feel comfortable stacking?
We've been over this. Unlike some people with huge fucking heads, I don't like to make decisions that are big when I don't feel like I know what's going on at this point.
What a silent game this has been. My vote is purely to put a new face in a runoff. I'm voting for Taint instead of Carini (who would also be a new face) because I don't want the Mafia to hide their votes on players who currently don't have any, allowing us to just go into a JFG/Carini runoff with them having 2 votes each. Usually I don't think the town would let that happen, but this has been a rather inactive game and I don't want to risk it if people end up missing their votes. We should have at least three people, in my opinion.
I also think EAP is being decidedly unhelpful. I can't tell if she's trying to throw the game in a certain direction or just being whiny.
