I was almost done with this whole response thing accidently clicked a wrong thing and lost it all.... so now you're getting the speedy condensed version of it.
I've "ween" this twice. The first time it turned into a make out session, the second time I think I fell asleep or was doing other things while it was on. It is a movie you really have to pay attention to, so I count it as like a half yes.
Monsters inc The incredibles Finding nemo Toy story
Yes to all of these. Kids movies and a lot of comedies are your best bet for guessing movies I HAVE seen.... (and yes, I've seen all of the Toy Stories)
Watched the first one on a bus ride to DC in 8th grade. Found it incredibly boring and never bothered with the rest.
Sounds like something a Potter fan would say.
I'm just starting Deathly Hallows Pt 1 on my Potter movie marathon. So far, they're just sorta eh. They're not bad, but there are too many things that keep them from being really good.
First is Daniel Radcliffe just isn't a good actor. I know it's hard picking child actors when you'll have to watch them grow up on camera, but it was a swing and a miss with him.
Too many plot details are explained by people over hearing/pretending to sleep/etc. Too much is focused as "You're just kids! You can't do that!" "Ugh, adults!".
Maybe the books are great, maybe if I grew up with it, idk.
There is zero comparison between Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings (not counting these recent bullshit Hobbit movies, those suck).
I think I may have rented this and started it? But I may have been not so sober at the time and remember little to nothing about it. So like, maybe a half way yes, more so a no, on this one....
My ex looooooved Coen brother movies, and he always said that Zucker brother films were the reason we had the Coen brothers, so he made me watch a fuck ton of both of them. Airplane was one of his favorites that we watched numerous times over 7 years.
pretty much all the coen brothers (yeah, i liked ladykillers all right)
See above, re: Coen brothers... I've seen a vast majority of them.
and in regards to the western movies... Prob not seen many of them. If you want to name a few, I'll answer. But I haven't seen classics, let alone getting into niche genres...

*ducks from book being thrown at head*
To be fair, DHpt1 is the weakest of the series. It is a lot of running around, hiding in woods, searching for things and only very little actual action or anything. But the books are amazing. I have been a HP fan since I was about 14, which is actually late considering my age and when the fandom really started for the series.
have you guys watched boondock saints recently? It is a terrible, terrible movie.
it is really dumb ultra-violence for the freshman dorm crowd played out by ethnic caricatures.
No, I haven't seen it in years. I saw the second one when it came out, but even by that time it had been at least 2 years since I'd seen the original. I do remember really like it though. Maybe I should rewatch?
Because I have so few movies I need to watch that I should obviously go back and start re-watching movies instead...

The second one only needs to be seen once, it wasn't that good.
I don't know why I should be so surprised that you haven't heard of The Sting, given you've "definitely not" seen the other great Paul Newman / Robert Redford collab. I guarantee you've seen it homaged in TV and film many times, even if you didn't realise it.
As a music lover, you owe it to yourself to see High Fidelity ASAP. We're watching this in December if you haven't seen it by then. Not up for debate.
Also, Boondock Saints is, in fact, a forgettable boilerplate crime drama.
Cartoonish on a scale of 0-Cage though. You can't compare him to mere mortals.
There's also that he's supposed to be kind of ridiculous in that movie as it fits with the general theme and tone of every character. We're not talking latter day Cage where the movie is supposed to be completely serious and he's ridiculous.
Monie, don't fall for all this The Godfather hype. I finally sat down and watched them a few years ago and was bored to tears. Had to be forced to watch the third.
Unless you have pubescent dreams of being a mobster, pass.

I do think they're overrated, but I and II are still good movies. Worth watching just to reach the rest of the world in terms of cultural expectation, IMO.
Horse head May your child be a masculine child Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in I'm going to make him an offer he can't refuse Revenge is a dish best served cold It's a Sicilian message... I can handle things! I'm smahht!
The list goes on..
Edit: Though admittedly I do have pubescent dreams of being a mobster. Why do you think I play Mafia so much?

I think I got nearly all of those references before even seeing The Godfather. As you mention, they're so used in every day culture it's hard to not know where they come from.
As I read those lines, I had Michael Scott doing more than half of them in my head.
And ya, I guess I wouldn't call them bad by any means. Just severely over rated.
