I’m going to be stopping through Nashville Sunday through Tuesday. I’ll be seeing modest mouse at the Ryman(soooooo excited) is there any food or breweries I should check out? Hot chicken? I heard yazoo is a great brewery but google says they’re close those days. Anyone ever been to third man records? Worth stopping by?
Just saw them in B'ham on Wednesday and it was a great show. I'd love to see them at the Ryman! I've only been to Nashville once but we ate at this burger place called The Pharmacy (thepharmacynashville.com) and it was good. I liked third man, lot's of cool and strange stuff in there.
I've always wanted to go to the Pharmacy en route to Roo but kept opting against for fear of the just being too long a wait so we've gone to The Row a couple of times. It was good, there was parking and there was always live music.

I will be at that show. The Lula Cafe is attached to the Ryman and really good.
Be aware that if the Predators do not win tonight, the final game will be that night. They will be playing one block from the Ryman.
It will be a shit show downtown. Come early. Park. Eat early, wander, and marvel at the insanity that includes multiple drunken bridal pedal taverns.
The lady and I are going to the Tampa Bay area for a week. Recommendations please.
I honestly don't know anything in Tampa Bay except Bush Gardens. My family always went on vacation in Sarasota when I was a kid but we mostly just sat on the beach. If you like doing actual beach activities like looking for shells drive down to Venice, FL(an hour south) early one morning. It's the "shark teeth capital" haha. For real, you can find fossilized shark teeth on the beaches there. Just research a little to find the best spots to stop. I guess you could dress up as aliens and go troll the scientologists in Clearwater?

Hey, I live here! If you have time, would love to meet up.
As for recs:
Downtown, specifically the River Walk and Armature Works. They've really built up the downtown area the past few years, and both of these spots epitomize the best of the efforts so far. The River Walk is a path that takes you around the Hillsborough River (also open container), and Armature Works is a cool warehouse that was converted into a spot with several restaurants and bars.
If you're big on beaches, check out Fort De Soto in St. Pete or go to Clearwater/Sarasota.
Busch Gardens if you like theme parks and/or animals.
ZooTampa at Lowry Park, Big Cat Rescue and/or the FL Aquarium if you like animals.
Random food recs: La Teresita for Cuban, Aguila for their awesome Steak sandwich, Konan's for BBQ, Osteria Natalina for Italian seafood, La Fiesta for Mexican (in a kinda sketchy part of town, but so worth it). May come back and edit this later if I think of any others.
Dolphin Tour
Al Lopez park for a pretty cool, large park
Ybor is a historic, cool neighborhood. Walk down 7th Ave. from the Columbia Restaurant to around the Ritz. Take the trolley if you have time.
If you like kayaking or canoeing, check out the Hillsborough River State Park and/or Lettuce Lake Park
Not Tampa, but depending upon where you stay, you'll be an hour to hour and a half from Disney or Universal in Orlando.
Watch a movie at the historic Tampa Theatre if you have time. It's pretty cool.

You can do the m*th and mullet tour if you try hard enough on the side highways.
If you're flying down there, the best stuff to do nature wise is go to the beach. Clearwater is pretty cool and St. Pete and Madeira Beaches are nice. Some of the northern ones like Indian Rocks are not so great. Also, if you're going to have a rental car, almost all the beaches from Anna Maria Island down thru Bradenton Beach, Longboat Key, down to Siesta Beach and and then down to the 10,000 Islands are all pretty cool and unique. I actually like the Atlantic Beaches a little more, but that's slightly over a 2 hour run from Tampa over to say Cocoa Beach, and that requires that you not get f'd in Orlando traffic.
It's a bit under an hour and a half to Winter Springs/Kissimmee, and obviously all the thrills you could ever want are right there.
Eureka Springs Park is right there in Tampa. You also have Sulfur Springs and Purity Springs right there in the city. About an hour north is Homosassa Springs which is pretty bad ass. So if you have transportation and time, there's a lot of great stuff to see down in West Central FL
This 2018, I plan to visit Europe and Spain. For my summer holiday, I'm looking at Tenerife or Lanzarote.I came across this one article about the place here in www.canaryislandsinfo.co.uk/fuerteventura/places/ I've never been to either and apparently, the beaches are fantastic as well as being suitably 'different' to make it interesting. How about you guys? Any plans?

Chicago friends -
Can anyone suggest a decent and affordable place to stay? <$150 / night. Thinking around Union Station / Lincoln Park / Lakeview / or that area
We're only in town for a short visit before flying out. Arriving about 10 AM and going to the airport at 2 PM the following day. What all should we do? It's my fiancee's first time in the USA. She's already discovered deep dish pizza and said that we have to do that... I have only been to Malnati's... any other suggestions? We'll also do Millenium Park I think.

Lakeview is pretty cool, I'd suggest an Airbnb in that area. I suggest walking over to the park/pathway next to Lake Michigan and taking a stroll.
For deep dish, Pequod's is my favorite. Only problem is that it's a bit of a trek, so may not be worth it if you're in a pinch for time.

I stayed here, studio apartment on lakeshore dr., host was great, location was great, very secure building. Quick Uber/Lyft to Millennium Park.
Edit: As far as things to do, we loved 2nd City, saw the improv allstars show in the Up Comedy club. Don't see it now on their site but they have lots of shows to choose from. link: secondcity.com - Chicago Shows
Giordano’s, Art of Pizza (Lincoln Park), Geno’s east and all those places are good. Chicagoans all have their favorites, but I’ve never had bad pizza in Chicago. If you are near Millennium Park, there are some bad ass museums - Institute among others - right there. The Planetarium on the lake is cool as shit if you find yourself close to there.
My favorite shit to do in Chicago is just walk. You can go block after block downtown, Michigan Ave/Miracle Mile, Financial District, Gold Coast, etc. and never run out of cool shit to see, places and shops to visit, and wine bars to stop in on. Heart Chicago.
On top of Porto in September, we’re spending a week in Barcelona.
Porto is pretty set since we’re there for a wedding, but Barcelona is up in the air. Recommendations for where to stay, what to see, where to eat/drink, etc. are needed and very welcome. It’ll mostly be the boyfriend and I, but there is a larger group we are loosely planning with.

We are headed to NYC for vacation Nov 18-21. Likely this has been covered in this thread, but if anyone has any recommendations for food or things to do I'd love to hear them.
Food-wise we are generally more interested in quick-service type places, not anything super fancy. So not necessarily "budget" eats, but for example I'd rather eat a big bowl of ramen than a small fancy piece of fish at Le Bernardin.
Here is a rough list of potential things to do/places to eat we've put together. Let me know if any of these are must-dos or mustn't-dos:
Sleep No More UCB Comedy Cellar 30 Rock Tour and/or Top Of The Rock Met Katz Deli (i've been before but wife hasn't, so pastrami from Katz is a must-do) MOMA Broadway show 9/11 memorial and/or museum (will likely at least do the memorial since we are probably staying in Tribeca) Xi'an Famous Foods Totto Ramen Absolute Bagels Milk Bar

i've only been to nyc once, but i'd say all three of these were a must for us, and totally worth it. also, not necessarily "budget," but highly recommend momofuku noodle bar for ramen. and please feel free to drop off a milk bar birthday cake at my front door, thank you.

Food:
If you like ramen, hit up Ramen Shack (home of the slightly famous Ramen Burger, which is absolutely worth getting).
Peruvian is big for us, so if you like Peruvian, I recommend Riko Chelsea across the street from Madison Square Garden for Peruvian rotisserie chicken and/or Pollo D'Oro in Brooklyn for a wide range of Peruvian cuisine.
Awesome desert born out of New York: Taiyaki, ice cream in a fish-shaped waffle cone. Get it at the synonymous Taiyaki.
Italian: Peppe Rosso Social near Little Italy and Chinatown is incredible.
For great soul food, Taste of Heaven in Brooklyn near Brooklyn Steel is top notch. The owner and his wife and so sweet as well.
Cafe Henri in Long Island City, Queens has lovely French breakfast offerings.
Things to do:
Any movie/TV lover should hit up the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, Queens
If you're into getting cheap books, The Strand in Manhattan is apparently a great book store. Book-off is also a great option.
A night boat tour around the city is pretty fun.
To satisfy your inner techo/house fandom, look up what's going on at Output, Good Room, Brooklyn Mirage (may be closed during that time), Nowadays, Bossa Nova Civic Club, Elsewhere, etc. Resident Advisor will have everything you need as well.
Walking across the Brooklyn Bridge is fun and offers lots of great views.
The Bronx Zoo is amazing, and worth going to early during a weekday. When we went, it was dead pretty much most of the day.
If you like gaming, check out Arcade Bar locations around the city in either Manhattan or Brooklyn
If I think of anything else, I'll return back here with suggestions.

thank you both! great recommendations, going on the list.
Wife and I are flying into Boston later next month with the kids. We plan on driving up to Arcadia National Park. Any suggestions on things to do/see in Boston/Massachusetts/New Hampshire/Maine?
